"Educated professionals," no. Bureaucratic clowns who need to prove that their job is important- YES. Just shows how little actual work these government employees have to do. It's picric acid...do you know what type of explosive that is? "Educated professionals".......how about you educated yourself by reading something, dumbass.
@dawson01912 How is the faculty of a Medical Arts college considered "government employees"?
And it's Picric Acid, aka, Trinitrophenol, aka another highly-nitrated compound like Trinitrotoluene aka TNT aka stuff for Dynamite. WTF else do you consider it a type of explosive?
"Pour it down the drain" eh? Where did you get you HAZWOPER Training? From some wrappers of Bazooka Joe gum?
Why didn't they just wet it with water??? You can easily wet the threads and the picric acid if you know what you're doing which makes it harmless(its usually the friction of the bottle cap turning that can cause problems, by wetting it you remove the problem). Seems to me the news station was desperate for any kind of story and the University obliged to give them one. Either that or that was one bored bomb squad.
2:10 lol at his hair :P thats the way to get rid of HE's ^^ read some security thingy on TATP.. lol wash it away with water.. -.- it will dry and then detonate lol. gather it all in one big facking pile and light it
OMFG a 100 g bottle of picric acid. Did the school officials piss their pants? Now, did the news reporters piss their pants as well? And detonating it, what a waste of good stuff.
is detonating explosives a waste? cmon.. >_> nah lets send it in a little expensive bag to africa.. then they can make advanced chemistry with that.. not.
I bet that guy didn't keep his cool when he first saw that, I guarentee you he was all like "OH SHIT MOTHER FUCKER! EVERYONE GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE SCHOOL!!!!11!"
This stuff could have been more discreetly disposed of by perhaps a more daring of chemistry teacher. But this guy (the chemistry teacher) was simply following procedure, all else involved seemed to have done the same.
this is just a good example of the effect of leftists that think freedom is too dangerous for a world that they can live in because they are cowards, that can't accept the consequences for there negative actions, thus they make every effort to pad everything around them they are winning because the rest of us that are not cowards are not annoyed enough yet, soon there will be a time to act, and things like TNP will be the only weapons on hand......when the pitch forks come out so will I........
Picric acid in solution in a glass bottle with a plastic lid is unlikely to explode. One would have to find a way to ignite any crystals that formed on the lid and just unscrewing the lid isn't gonna do it. I used to work with dry p.a. and would take a spatula to gouge out a chunk to make up a solution. Not my idea of dangerous compared to lab fires with alcohol, breathing methanol, unsecured gas tanks. I routinely work with toxins, radiochemicals, grad students, any of which could be worse.
Why do you think a school went crazy over a small spill over Mercury ? This guy isn't very educated, they should learn more about the chemicals they use everyday instead of panicking like this professor just did.
I'll tell you why they freaked out. Have you ever seen the video of the detonation of 1 kg of completely dehydrated picric acid? that is enough to scare the shit out of anyone, considering that it detonated merely at the opening of the container. the video is still used today to show the dangers of hazardous chemicals to pretty much anyone involved with HAZWOPER, and if you've seen it, you would probably never want to be around picric acid under any circumstance.

GTFO.
dawson01912 1 year ago
Couldn't they just open the cap, put it in a bucket of water, and once dissolved pour it down the drain?
Now, that's too logical. Let's call the bomb squad and close the college.
dawson01912 1 year ago
@dawson01912 Picric acid shouldn't be put in the drain since its toxic chemical.
UTubeisSHIT523441 10 months ago
@UTubeisSHIT523441
You are absolutely retarded. The toxicity of diluted picric acid in a drain is one of your last concerns.
dawson01912 10 months ago
@dawson01912 I would personally never drain picric acid. I also always neutralize the wasted chemicals before throwing them into drain.
UTubeisSHIT523441 10 months ago
@dawson01912 Opening the cap is one of the most dangerous things involved with picric acid.

"dangerous problem" - oh my fucking god!
pricic acid is - dry or not - safe to handle!
u cant detonate it by opening, shaking or even throwing the bottle against the wall
this is just insane, useless and money wasting
at least a professor (!!) shoud know that!
what kind of professor is that guy?
another "doing useless things for the sake of just doing something"
btw. why is the vid. quality so crap?

dont talk crap
picric acid is somewhat insensitive!
it was used as an artillery round filling.
do u think they shot super sensitive stuff whit artillery?
no.
its absolutlely safe to handle (even dry!) as long as u dont use ur hammer ect.
Assi2004 2 years ago 2
dont let the system control you with fear. explosives are perfectly safe when handled by a person having a sound mind.

You can step on Picric Acid all day long and it won't go off, Picric acid is just as sensitive as TNT, you will need a primary to have it go off.
