I believe Dusty was born in Ireland but raised in (again.. I believe England). It's a beautiful country and I would love to see it again. This video is so beautiful. And Dusty is so wonderful. Her voice sounds as beautiful as always. Thanks for posting! *)*
@sunflowermother : Nope, birth certificate states born 87 Fordwych Road, West Hampstead, London April 16th 1939. But her Irish heritage seems to have been super-important to her - she never seemed to miss an opportunity to tell people she was Mary Isabel Catherine (with a "C") Bernadette O'Brien - Irish Convent School Girl!. She was wonderful.
@SlieveLeague1 I don't remember where I read what I stated..It was online somewhere. I stand corrected. But yes, I remember about her Irish decent.. I guess partly because I am as well..100%.. Silly as I sound it makes me happy we are of the same heritage. Thank you for the helpful info. And I I agree whole-heartedly..She was wonderful!!! *)*
Yeah Ireland to be sure, on the West Coast around Galway and the 'Cliffs of Moher', on Google Earth if you click the small blue square below Galway you can see a photo of the Megalithic Tomb at Poulnabrone Dolmen on the Burren, I think it's the same one as in the video, Dusty's brother "Tom" cast some of Dusty's ashes at the Cliffs of Moher.
Just beautiful...God death is such an enemy....lose all in the end..must treasure the life we have now and grab happiness where it can be found.....Sandi
What an absolute legend, she was the essence of fabness. I went to Dustys funeral and was lucky enough to be allowed into church along with 200 other fans. A remarkable lady who wasmt hungry for fame in her final days !!
*sniff* okay, the first time i tried to watch this i couldn't get all the way thru it. it was too sad! i just tried to watch it again & DAMN IT DUSTY! it ain't fair, she should still be here!!!
omg, this song gives me such an increadibly sad feeling. dont get me wrong, its a beautiful song &, as always, i love it cuz its dusty. its still sad, however, cuz you know it, you can feel that dustys life is coming to its end...
You hit what I was going to say on the head! Spot on! I'm still crying, coz i just watched the funeral video! its not fair! I wish she were still here! i'd be proud if i can accomplish 1/4 of what she accomplished during her life and make such difference to so many people! A truly great soul she was! R.I.P Dusty, or rock it up in heaven, whatever works for 'ya!
Lol, Al, you just KNOW that The Great Lady is rocking out up there! Our girl (like I say in my poem) had to go on to lead Heaven's Choir! I just feel blessed that the Good Lord allowed us to have her for 59 beautiful years!
Thank you for posting this video. A beautiful song and now so poignant. I remember seeing this on the now defunct German music video channel Onyx and didn't think I'd be able to see it again anywhere. The song deserved to be a big hit. We miss Dusty so much...
Hey nice one for putting it up, thats me the little boy I was 7, it was set in Menlo Galway Ireland in 1995. Ya it's her last video. It's funny to see it on the web now. Thanks again
How cool. I read a review in The Observer newspaper by Sean O'Hagan, shortly after she died, about the making of that video. He called it My Date with Dusty..and it was how she was being driven about the west of Ireland in some huge winnibago and worrying about the wind and what it did to her hair..but that she was also sweet and she reminisced about her singing in Memphis with him. I have been a fan of hers for a long time. Good for you being in her last video!!
thanks so much for putting this up - have wanted to see this for years and years. This is the outstanding track from A Very Fine Love and though Dusty's voice altered over the years she remained a wonderfully evocative and graceful singer. As fine a singer as ever lived.
I try to see where my souls at now. I need to get to know the man I see in the mirror. Think I might like him.
What a great song. ...I'm proud to be gay too.
