I remember this episode! It was on a video cassette which included Heathcliff and Marmaduke episodes. I am a Finn and Heathcliff TV series have not been shown on television in Finland. This video cassette had sound track in Finnish and also some 1984 series episodes have been published on VHS in Finland. They were my favorites when I was a kid. But this episode belongs to the 1980 series doesn't it?
SwiftFur: When will you add more DIC Heathcliff (and DIC Catillac Cats) besides Ruby Spears Heathcliff? Especially the DIC Catillac Cats episode I am still hoping for - "Pre-Hysteric Riff-Raff".
By the way: Regarding the cartoon: The talking alligator sounds similar to Snagglepuss but he's not voiced by Daws Butler.
I prefer Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats, but this one had it's own charm too.

According to the credits I'd say the voice was done by Paul Winchell or Henry Corden.
