  • Oh! I was not aware the 39 was opened to the lake from Azusa. I:ve got to go there this spring!

BTW, the West Fork was full of water falls from the cliff above the trails beyond the 3 mile post. They are beautiful. If you cans spare 3 to 4 hours, I recommend you should check them out

  • @tytytji Oh thanks I will check that out soon.

  • I didn't know they had already reopened the 39! That's exciting!:D Thanks for sharing David! Your video at the lake is awesome too btw, and pretty crazy going swimming when there's snow on the ground! haha

  • Crystal Lake?? How do we get there?? From the Crest Hwy?? Gee, I wanna go.... The last time I was there was like 10 years ago ; (

  • @tytytji From Azusa and the 210 fwy take highway 39 north to the end of the road. signs will point you there. The 39 is still closed from Crystal Lake to the Crest Hwy.

  • Just beautiful - thanks!

  • That looked like a "refreshing" swim in the lake!

  • love a good polar bear swim. looks like a great place.

  • 190 views and hopefully some new subscribes. I sent the URL out to my mailing list and also posted it to my Facebook account. The comments on Facebook has been great!

  • @NotSoOldHippy Hey man thanks!

  • @davidsquall351 Be careful Jason from Friday the 13th lives there.

  • @martinez418 lol

  • David, thank you again for taking us to another cool place via your camera.

  • Pretty.....

  • Darn, I found myself spamming your video. Ug, I need a can of cola.

  • @NotSoOldHippy Ha! I'm such a rabid Internet abuser.

  • Oh! You got to the lake! If you don't mind I will post to my Facebook account your URL to this video as well. This looks great!

  • May I use your video? I'll add it to the Crystal Lake web site's video section, continued to link to your channel.

  • @NotSoOldHippy Yeah you can use my video :)

  • Hey! You made it to Lewis Falls! I bet that the trail was virtually gone, does not exist any more.

  • @NotSoOldHippy yeah a few hundred yard past the second cabin the trail was gone.

  • @davidsquall351 Did you wave "hello" to Cigrett while she held a gun on you? LOL.

  • Wow I just fished that lake last Christmas before any snow had shown up. The lake looks much fuller now.

  • @mobiltec Does this lake dry up?

  • @davidsquall351 I believe it has been dry a few times. There is a pump nearby and I don't know if it will pump water in or out of the lake. When I was up there with Fred it was pretty low. Fished but no luck.

  • @davidsquall351 It never gets dry entirely, and as MT mentioned there were pumps in there for a while removing the water so that the garbage could be hauled out (bit of a fiasco there but LOLable.)

Now there is no garbage anywhere, no litter, all the old plastic pipes have been pulled out, everything in the campgrounds are clean and pristine -- which won't last long.

  • @mobiltec I wonder if the drain was closed. I have been getting emails from maybe 50 people so far. The roads within have not been plowed and most peope don't want to slog through.

  • i was there sunday, as close as the camp sites, it was 15" or more of snow, every where. last time I had been there was 14 years prior fishing, caught 1 trout that day.

  • @PHARRAOH When we were leaving there was a fisherman headed out there. I wonder if they stock the lake when the area was closed.

  • @davidsquall351 The Fisheries Conservation Volunteers stocked the lake while repairs were being made so that city kids could come up for a Fishing Derby, at least 2 of them in the 10 years the place was still a safety hazard and the place was getting repaired. The last Fishing Derby left lots of fish in the lake because something like half of the kids who wanted to come up could not because there were not enough buses available -- the Fisheries people are unpaid volunteers.

  • @NotSoOldHippy Yeah I saw a few volunteers up there on monday. Good to know there is fish.

  • Hello David. That's one beautiful lake.

I've seen Crystal Lake on the topographic map. I'll have to try to get up there before the snow is all gone. Nice!

  • @bapyou It's nice up there. I forgot how much the sun reflects off the snow and blinds you. I have been waiting for this road to open for a while. Its funny there is a flier on the visitor center that dates back to 2002 : )
