@littleignisfatuus well I think it's nice that it's pro aspie and all cause I think that's a nice way to see it but I think the reason why he couldn't socialize didn't have anything to do with aspergers to be honest but rather because he had lived away from people all his life. I think that would make sense as to why he couldn't socialize properly. I dunno though if the director said that specifically bout the movie but that's just my personal opinion.

I don't know if you've noticed this movie's a metaphor representing Asperger's Syndrome. How Edward starts off alone, how he's different to other people and how he'll never socialise properly. As far as his scissorhands are concerned, they give him his "special interest/gift" (cutting hair, plants, etc.) but also make him look dangerous and weird. He's, however, sensitive and purely good. A total pro-aspie movie.

I grew up with this movie, my mom and i would watch it around xmas time. It's funny but has a very dark theme to it. I thought Depp was the perfect choice. Horror icon Price was excellent as well. The music in it is amazing and the acting is top notch, Hall is the ultimate jock dickwadd, damn he sure did change since his other movies, wtf!!! I liked the style of this movie, the colors or lack of. I like all kinds if movies, action comedy and sci fi and this movie is def in my top 10 of my favs.

To me this movie is right up there with classics like The Hunckback of Norte Dame and The Phantom of The Opera. It's a classic in its own right and has great characters,story, atmosphere, and, as always, an amazing soundtrack by Danny Elfman. I hope Tim Burton goes back to this style of movie making. He can think, feel and all this. but in the Moment where the Inventor showed him his future hands, he died infront of Eddy! So edward was alone in the castle and ad the Scissors from the Scissor Robot. Or maye he was done, without beeing a robot!^^
