  • I was lucky enough to meet Mr.Reeve(Who played both"Clark Kent & Superman"in the movie)in NYC before he died.He was a kindly, caring and sweet gentle man..(Crying)I Still Miss Him.

  • I was 2 back then and my father made my 3 older brothers do their homework and he wouldn't let them watch Superman I on ABC until they were finished and my parents checked it. Plus the ABC movie intro was my fave intro, I wish ABC would bring it back when they air their Saturday night movies,

  • i think i was 10 years old and this cut was on abc and they stopped the movie as lois lane started to fall from the hellicopter and paused the movie and then the recap and it picked up where it left of and they unseen scenes just as well i would like to have this cut on a laser dic or a dvd i still have dune on laser disc and it was the same way superman was released if i can get a copy this cut on a laser disc or a dvd

  • Valerie Peron? It's Perrine.

  • OH MY GOD, I HAVE THIS TAPED ON VHS OFF OF ABC!!! INCREDIBLE THAT YOU POSTED IT.

  • Man...I can remember being GLUED to the TV the two nights these came on when I was in high school. The next day after the first night, everyone at school was talking about it and were amazed at how "cool" it was. This was event TV at its best!

  • I remember this! The memories.

  • When will the 188 minute extended cut of this movie be available on DVD?

  • I was 9 when this film came out and I can't watch it without thinking of my Dad..who took me to see it on December 26th, 1978...and again at Easter in 1979. Such a special film and to this day, I get a bit choked up at the opening credits as I think about how great it was to be a kid at the time of Star Wars and Superman. A fond memory of my Dad as well.....RIP Dad.

  • @jntdhome That's cool, man.

  • @jntdhome My dad took me to see the film in the theater. And I DID believe a man could fly! To this day, I still get choked up when Jonathan clutches his wrist, says, "...no.." and collapses. Great great movie and awesome memories. I was a Star Wars/Superman/CE3K kid too at age 12.

  • @jntdhome Such heartfelt words, I think we all can relate to the magic of seeing this on the big screen as a kid

  • @jntdhome Good point. It was a great time to be a kid at the time of Superman and Star Wars. I was 9 as well when I first saw Superman. Still my all-time favorite movie.

  • I remember these, great memories.

  • I remember when they ran this with all the extra footage. But they didn't just add deleted scenes. They tacked 10 seconds on every scene where the actor would stand there waiting for the director to yell "cut". They pretty much ruined the pacing of the film.

  • I'm five again watching the television special with Mom, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins in the living room. Thanks for the fond memories!

  • This is the complete and uncut edition of"Superman The Movie"(1978)that was first seen on ABC TV.

  • Ah, when Hollywood made movies for the fun of it.

NOW they all have to be deep, dark, social commentary on how bad the Bush administration was.

When was the last "feel good" superhero movie made?

  • Oh my, still can remember when superman came in movie theaters in 78, was crazy sh#t, seriously !! Went to see it 2 times, absolutely loved it.

  • I'm 5 again. What a Movie.

  • omg!!! I'm 7 years old again!!!! Thanks!

  • ATARI!

  • @skinwalkerxxx They make the kickass Ghostbusters video game that recently came out! :D

  • @TheSecondEvolution cool but I don't play videogames anymore. If Intelevision does something, then i'll flip. ;D

  • @skinwalkerxxx I still play video games!! Not Atari, PS3 Modern Warfare 2 !!!

  • I remember being in second grade and I stayed up watching this movie on tv. I didn't do my homework for 2 days.. I got in trouble big time.. Oh, I also had the Atari 2600 game system.. Man, those were the days being a kid.

  • @jusfukoff yes they were, good memories

  • The announcer "SUUPERMAN" lol

  • I wish they had a CGI fix for that crappy suit Gene hackman is wearing.

  • It was the seventies. Everyone was wearing stuff like that.

  • The announcer sounds like he is from 1952, not 1982. I remember a different guy being the announcer on network TV in the 80s, he had far more life to then this stilted speaking dude.

  • You're right. The announcer you are remembering is Ernie Anderson. Paul Thomas Anderson's father. (Magnolia)

  • On what ABC station was this footage derived from?

  • At 10 years old I was obsessed with this film! I totally rember it airing on ABC. I'd seen it several time on HBO before the network premiere. I hated the added footage at the time. Now I wish to God I could see the network version on DVD!

  • we got to see this movie in elementary school as graduating seniors BEFORE it premiered on tv.....it WAS GREAT!!!!!!!

  • Atari! talk about a flashback.

  • am a huge superman fan but how did the train go over him

  • because he's the shit.

  • I remember when they first showed this movie on ABC. Now I'm so used to watching movies in widescreen and in their entirety on my TV or my computer that I couldn't watch this. Full screen makes any movie like this look like the camera is missing part of the action.

  • Got love old school TV...to break up a movie like Superman into two parts :)

  • I remember watching this back in the day and I have the game too....

  • I think i watched this!

I would have been 7 or 8 years old.

    JB

  • I love the Ataria promo, first video-game system, even before Nintendo..

  • lol, Old school.
