1973 was an incredible year for Elton! At all points of view! A voice, energy, songs sublime! I want a live concert of his 73 'such as "Sundown Theater" or another good quality that made the tour 73'. Find her, it would be bliss!!!!!
Whenever I play this tune, I always have to bust out into tune pretend I'm singing it on a stage, especially when he sings, "when there's a nightmare, I'm there."
This song is awesome...both this and blues for my baby and me never got any radio time, but they should have. Contrast the understated delivery of "Blues" and the way he rips the vocals on this song...both are perfect...
DAMN!!! Elton John could sing when he was young!!! The way he executes the chorus on this song is exceptional..his breath control...his attack of the words..
Youth and driving ambition to succeed in his craft is very audible in every track on this album
great post, and I'm always amazed at his own claim that he was a very tentative singer and performer early on. he got past that, no? what a monster talent!!!
@mutchkatsonga "his attack of the words" - excellent description. That's one of the many things aout him, his dynamic expression in his songs, I can't get over it. I don"t prefer listening to live versions of songs I like, ut with Elton John, he sings live just as great as the recorded and they don't sound the same, it"s hard to explain what I mean.

Elton did not have throat cancer! He had nodules removed from his vocal chords. as a result, his voice is deeper. That's it!

We can't forget Bernie Taupin's lyrics! One of rocks best.
