  • My dad loves this, and my son, 3 at the time- 2007, always wanted to hear cumberland gap! brilliant!

  • absolutely brilliant ... :o)

  • Classic band music

  • This hit by Lonnie Donegan was the 24th #1 song in the United Kingdom of the Rock Era.

  • This was Number One at the very time I was born! :)

  • Heehee, It's boxing day and I just heard this song for the first time! I love how it made my dad dance like a loony, my dog dance like a nutter and my mum tap her foot and shake her head in a manic way! You just know when a song is good when it makes a room full of people and a dog dance!

  • This a VHS copy of a 16mm print.

  • great

  • I really love this stuff...

  • I just wanna jump about while listening to this

  • Music, as we know it today, owes this man more than it will ever know. Genius.

  • Thanks Roger.

  • Is he just playing G and C there or is there some variation. Anyone help?

  • @maniqueboy He's singing it in Emajor so the 5th chord is B7. Hope this helps.

  • I don't care, but I'll just call this heavy fucking metal!

  • @b44styreraug Sounds more country than metal, its not heavy metal, listen to Slipknot, Bullet for my valentine, Bring me the horizon etc . . thats metal music

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP I think he was being sarcastic or saying that it's cool.

  • @ThePaperFalcon Ohh okay aha

  • @paulmccartney7ElvisP Welp... all of those bands are straight up terrible, except for slipknots drummer

  • @GAwes I know it was just some examples :)

  • @GAwes What's strange is I'm actually agreeing with you on this lol

  • Quality. :o)

  • This is fantastic - knew the song but never seen it live before - thanks so much for posting!

  • Thumbs up he is great

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love the music!!!! Is it me or does Lonnie look a bit like Robbin Williams?

Once again I cant stay still listioning to this!

  • Love lonnie thumbs up

  • Great!

  • Thanks for that. We do have some more LD clips which will be posted soon.

  • So so awesome, thank you so much for putting this up.

  • I met Lonnie many times and he told us that he was able to get hold of most of the early putting on the donegan footage however they wouldn't realise it all to him. So much of this footage is unseen and great that you've uploaded it - please keep it coming i'm loving it :D

  • Thank you for your kind comments. The clip was taken from one of the Putting On The Donegan shows salvaged from a 16mm Telekine film. That is a television broadcast captured from a television monitor onto film. This type of recording was done before videotape became available. We do have other clips, which will be posted.

  • There's hours and hours of footage from Lonnie donegan Tv show's out there - even when his show went into colour for a series in the late 60s... why is no one can get their hands on it and have it all released, so many people like me who are younger would enjoy it!

  • Beautifully done!
