Since the auto patch that Steam applies everything works fine - barring the occasional crash to desktop - so quicksaving often becomes a must. But still, the graphics options are sparse - and the only 2 texture options are small (same as console versions) or large. To run large you need MORE than a gig of video ram. So it seems my 1gig 6870 can't cut it? Yet it runs on XB360 hardware that my vid card is 6 times more powerful than? SOrt your fucking heads out iD. Fix it or fuck off forever.
Mine runs fine on a 6870 with textures on large, i have crossfire but the second card is not being used. All full at 1920x1080 is 60fps no drops or popping.
I also have a 5850 and an e8400 @ 3.6 Ghz, exactly the same problem as well. Drivers: No luck, special Ati Drivers for rage: no luck, adding cache folder: nope, adding cfg file: no sir. This completely sucks... Please let me know when you found a solution.
Carmack should have stuck with id Tech 4. It was a great engine. Rage could have easily be done with it. It would have even looked better than it looks now.
