PaulDHamilton I've wanted to do this since I was a child. I'm now 39, is this too old, or do I still have time left? I'm in quite good shape for my age. Should I book a course at a local club or have I 'missed the boat' ?
@yellowlucky70 I was 39 when I learnt to fly a hang glider. Strangely in this case, reality matches the dream EXACTLY. Very strange indeed. But the feeling of flying... flying with birds, just like a bird, woah... that's something spiritual which is hard to describe! Just do it, if you can run, you can learn to hang glide.

@yellowlucky70 there is a video of a lady thats like 100 years old hang gliding... granted shes being towed and she's flying tandem... either way you can still go up and enjoy it
i seriosly want to by one of these iv never done it but id jump off any thing with one of these it looks brill id be in it all day an night i live in a city so people in there high rise flats will get a shock when i come crusin past haha. i no im geting carrid away but i want one lol. how much does one of these cost?
most rider has to be under 80kg to fly those glider cos i use to ride one with instructor about 20 yrs ago !.. but now i cant cos im 105 kg im not use it now cos of fear of height as i get older lol
If you let go of the bar in calm air the glider will just keep flying straight just like driving a car. It is designed and trimmed out to do this. If the air gets bumpy you need to keep your hands on the control bar just like you need to keep your hands on the wheel of your auto to go around corners or on a bumpy road.
@risquecat Idk if you live on the East coast or not, but Outer Banks, NC is a great place to go, its right out by the ocean on the sand, so you have a good view with nice soft landings.
I agree with this comment allot, Im applying for the royal marines after college, why? because life is too short too worry what if, too short to have regrets.this is one of those things just do it, hopefully I will be able to start this sport in the marines
glider alone used $1000-$4000. new- training glider $2500. new novice to intermediate $3500-$5000. throw in $125-250 for a helmet, most basic harness for $350. middle of the road harness for $800-$1000. parachute $500.
Paul, i have a HG/PG flight park by my home in PA. They can only take off facing north. My question is do you find it tough be able to fly alot? I believe you have to take off into the wind. Great video by the way!
Great video, well done and thanks for sharing!

@yellowlucky70 That is not to late at all. Many start at that age. Evert day you wait is one more day you did not do it. Live your dream and fly.

how safe is bicycles?
how safe is driving?
how safe is playing football?
how safe is something you love to do?
aviation is the safest form of transportation. and hang gliding is the safest of all aviation.
but then again it all depends on the judgement and ability of the pilot

This is why being towed by an ultralight or ground towing is so pupular. Than you can fly any time with the wind in aly direction.
