@liljeblad Actually, that's not true. Deafness is a spectrum like blindness. Whether someone identifies as Deaf or hard-of-hearing (the term "hearing-impaired" is out of date and considered to be insensitive) depends largely on what the remainder of their hearing is useful for (speech? or just a motorcycle right next to your ear?) as well as if they tend to identify more with speakers or signers. Yes... the label is often largely cultural and not medical.

WOW, It took sesame street for me to figure out her sounds. @ 1:47-50 she is playing "boom whackers" on mini bongos. while listening to 1 of her awesome cds I couldn't for the life of me figure out what kind of drums/toms she was using. NOW I KNOW. thanks oscar. oh, and they are not muppets, this is sesame street, not the muppet show. sorry to be so anal....but! LOL....and there is NO argument that she is thee best percussionist in the world. being HOT!!! is a big plus too.....namaste

Not only is she a great musician(A surprise to many of the hearing) but she can lip read(Of course she had a script, because you can't lip read a puppet.)

My ASL teacher(Who is deaf) tried to show me how to lip read and I completely failed. It's amazing how we assume all deaf people can lip read.
