The second part of this song is so... wicked...
I mean damn, you never hear this kinda stuff. It's edgy, yah know? And like, you hear metal bands sing about gruesomer things, but they just come across as silly and expected, but Colin actually makes it... kinda bone chilling.

saw him last night in brooklyn. this song stuck with me and my friend all day but all we could remember was "wasn't it a lovely night," but i got the firefly part and the bed of boughs part right =)
great song. can't wait for it to come out on CD!

I went to the charlottesville show too, and everyone was cheering when he sang this song. Only decemberists fans.....
I'm still wearing the arm band from that concert, and it was 3 days ago
