Vive l'Empereur!
The duke of Wellington said that just the presence on Napoleon on the battlefield was the equivelent of adding 10,000 men to his forces. The is no desputing that napoleon was a great General
OK..OK..OK, Napoléon n'est pas un idiot ha ha ha.. . OK Napoléon is not a idiot ha ha ha but forBaruc, I dont no.. And you??
The middle Guard broke, the units of the old Imperial Guard either retreated in good order or stood and died. "The Guard dies but does not surrender".
For the Marseillaise, Napoleon never prohibits it officially, but he did not like it's true Especially not for political reasons but for sentimental reasons ^^ (on the contrary even the 1st time that he hears it in the presence of Rouget of Lisle his creator, he thanks it for the song)

@588158 A great LEADER not necessarily a great general. Although he was brilliant and won many battles which would suggest he was a great general.

You're right, Napoleon did not ban la Marseillaise, though he did not encourage it either. Davout's troops played it as they entered Berlin in 1806.

nice video to this tribute
5 stars :-)
but you don't choice the perfect french military songs for this tribute my friend ^^
for example "The prisoner of Holland" or "Auprès de ma blonde" its other title, was sung less by French Army during the Revolution and Empire wars ^^
she was more used by French Royal Army in 18th century on the reign of Louis XIV and after during the 19th by the French Republic Army
