great performance i must say the lead guitarist accompanying her i am pretty sure he is one of rock and roll great guitarists james burton ! congrats wanda inducted into the rock and roll hof in 2009
WANDA.....YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY HEART! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO PAVED THE WAY FOR ALL THE GALS TODAY. YOU WERE THE FIRST, THE BEST, AND THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE YOU.....LOVE, DENNIS
@rebelqueen67 yeah, it was in the beginning of the runaways. In the scene where Joan is buying the leather jacket and pants from the rockabilly couple.
A legend who hasen't missed a beat. Rock and Roll just wouldn't be what it is today without her profound influence. It is heartwarming to know that she is at a point to know that appreciation. Love ya Wanda!
@thebannie Wanda says herself on another YouTube video that the Japanese probably don't understand what she's singing about. Apart from sitting back and trying to rationalise this song, why not try actually singing those words yourself and see if any emotional reaction happens to you. I sure hope it does. If not, do you fancy making up a catchy little number about Auschwitz too? And believe me I am not a serious guy, even if I did overdo the caps in my last comment! I love rockabilly!
@thebannie do you always stutter when you talk? i don't think the americans did anything in auschwitz unless there is something they haven't told us. fujiyama is a great song, not PC, but there you go.
Love it Woo Hoo!!! This is MY SONG!! She's great. I can't wait till her new album produced by Jack White comes out! She has a mean growl....VERY unique! Rockabilly Queen♔ ♕ ♚ ♛
The lovely & talented Wanda Jackson has lost none of her COOLNESS. Truly the QUEEN of rocakabilly! Thanks a TON for sharing this super groovy clip with us! Rock on, Wanda!!! :)
definately the quenn of rock dont you just love her voice!!!!! i wanna sing jsut like her but i jsut cant seem to take that rock'n raspy sound out of me its only when im in the moment just jamm'n out! but any way you rock for liking her!!!!!!
Saw her in London at the Forum with Jerry Lee. She rocked the house and was kind enough to meet for an auograph and a photo after. My life is now complete!
I am a great fan of Wanda's but I have always felt that this song's tasteless references to the horrific bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki did her no credit at all.
That's true, but did you know that this song was actually a huge hit for Wanda in Japan in the fifties, just a decade after the war. Seems kinda strange?
Hi dallaswhiskey. Yes I was aware of this fact. I can only guess that the Japanese fans didn't fully understand the lyrics. A rock song with a Japanese title would have had some novelty then. I can understand how the song first became popular in the USA due to post-war euphoria. However, the world has moved on(I hope)since then and I could never understand Wanda's continued performances of a song with such a frivolous regard to the annihilation of hundreds of thousands of innocent people.
If the country of Japan has no problem with the song, and it still doesn't...neither should you! It's just a song, not a political statement. By the way, do you remember Pearl Harbor?
she still sounds sooo awesome...love wanda jackson!!!!!!!!!!!

fuck war.
my japanese just dont understanding what this crazy RACISTS composing and singing.
she never thought it hurt anyone who damaged by atomic bomb?
and you know what, it was a number one hit song in JP.
so you can deride us!

WELL I BEEN TO NAGASAKI, HIROSHIMA TOO
THE THINGS I DID TO THEM
BABY I CAN DO TO YOU
WELL I USED TO SAY I'M CRAZY
BOTH DEAF AND DUMB
BUT I CAN CAUSE DESTRUCTION
JUST LIKE AN ATOM BOMB
For pity's sake WAKE UP!!!!
