,,,Having said that, no one ever looked at my high school educational background when I applied for jobs (thank God). So maybe there is a difference if one goes on to obtain higher degrees after home schooling and is applying for jobs that require those degrees? Nice to see you back, Rowan.
Thanks, it is nice to be back. You make an interesting point; tick boxing might negatively impact on home-educators for work that requires little to no higher education credentials.
As a strictly anecdotal observation, the hiring process can be a frustrating one because criteria for candidates is often a ridged, pre-determined list of minimum criteria, in part, to help streamline the hiring process, not to make it encompassing. This "checking off boxes" might influence employers be less open minded about home-schooled candidates, though legally it should not.
It is amazing; as is everything Beckett wrote. The lyricism of the dialogue, the profound metaphors, the nuanced dark humour; nothing compares. There is a collection called Beckett on Film on Amazon. It is expensive, but you will not regret purchasing a copy.
I think the results of a study on how employer's perceive home education would be very interesting and most likely the results would differ in different countries. I haven't heard much about the issue here in Australia, but I have heard employer's disgruntled by the standard of education of graduates from the school system so I'm inclined to think employer's may see home educated applicants as quite desirable :)
You are likely correct that the employer perception of home-education will differ depending on country; my childhood experiences (I frequently moved) suggest that views could even differ depending on the region within any given country. And another factor might be the background of the employer and therefore the kind of job.
Thanks Rowan. Also thanks for offering me the DVD but I'd like to decline. What I do on YouTube is pretty secret to my family and I couldn't receive it without exposing that secret.
Thanks :) Nothing so interesting unfortunately; although there are a few amusing works by continental philosophers. My sister has a great Bukowski collection so I have never got round to purchasing any; although I do have some of Bukowski's favourite novelist John Fante on the shelf just above the camera view.
Good point, I do personally intend to do so.

Hmmn - my hopelessly irregular visits to YT mean I didn't notice you'd gone until you'd already come back. Welcome back anyway. :)

I need to get the Godot soon on Amazon or something. Someone recommended it. Hope it is as good as I expect!

I hope so. Will you be uploading another Volsunga soon? When you start a series that good you have certain obligations to your audience.
Thanks for commenting.

Is that Robert Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia in the background?
6inches2theleft 2 years ago
Indeed it is; I bought it as a contraposition to Rawl's 'A Theory of Justice' which is right next to Nozick's book. Thanks for commenting.

You're welcome. And thanks again for the great question.
Fair enough; privacy is more important than many on the internet seem to understand.
