  • @SecularTalk, you sir look like a walking vagina. But then again what other people on the face of this planet have defeated themselves as soundly as the white people ;)

  • the bible also says if your wife cheats on you and gets pregnant you have to go an' eject da boy! i'm paraphrasing but its in their. theirs a few more too.

  • @chakra25king Science also says that DRD4 is the cheating gene. Science is also finding other genes responsible for certain behaviour traits. Ever heard of the term eugenics? Consider that your pre antiquity form of it. Think thats cruel? Eugenics is still going on TODAY.

  • @SecularTalk ...the Catholic church would be involved in both. But to place the blame like that is inaccurate. As someone mentioned, there are over a million abortions per year just in the US, so that is an equally important injustice to seek to end. By saying that Christians should focus on the "downtrodden," as you put it, and not on ending an injustice like abortion, you are implying that no Christian does anything for those in poverty. That's simply not the case.

  • @SecularTalk ...Lastly, I'll comment on your closing remarks. While it's true that we could all do a better job of being Christlike and helping the poor, as you mention, that doesn't negate the efforts pro-lifers do in trying to end abortion. Would you critique the American Cancer Society for not doing enough to end AIDS? Of course not. That is not their stated goal. Likewise, pro-life groups are geared to ending abortion, not poverty. Many work towards ending poverty as well. Ideally, yes, ...

  • @SecularTalk ...child is referred to as better off when compared to a wealthy man whose soul is not satisfied, but not better off than one who lives and whose soul is satisfied. In the case of the verse, a wealthy man who does not find that satisfaction in his soul will experience more earthly anxiety and distress than the stillborn child, because the stillborn will obviously not experience any in this earth. Again, this says nothing about abortion.

  • @SecularTalk ...or was aborted. Lastly, you reference Ecc. 6. This one, you are right, does talk about a stillborn (or miscarried) child. But again, this is as a result of chance not of an individual forcibly ending the life of the child in the womb. A miscarriage is far from an abortion. Here, though the author acknowledges the tragedy, he realized that the stillborn child goes to the same place as one who lives and dies, i.e., the grave. But, he makes an important distinction. The stillborn...

  • @SecularTalk ...Had there been any damage, up to and including a death, then the punishment would have been more severe. This verse can't be used as a commentary on abortion, then, since the child in question doesn't die. The verse from Ecc. 4 is an even further stretch on your part, since it makes no reference to a child in a womb. It simply says one who never existed. Given all the scripture to acknowledge of a child being known in the womb, we can't assume this means a fetus who died...

  • @SecularTalk ...which means, "to bear" and is translated in the Hebrew Bible as "childbirth" 10 times, "gave birth" 50 times, and "bore" or "born" 180 times. Yasa means "to go out." When you look at how it is used, it describes a living thing, such as Genesis 1:24, where it says, "Let the earth bring forth "living" creatures..." The point in all that is that it is not referring to a miscarriage, but rather a premature birth. Since the baby lives, and nobody is injured, there is simply a fine....

  • @SecularTalk ...More than likely, you're referring to an old version of the NASB translation. That translation, updated in 1995, currently reads: "If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely..." Note that it says, "give birth," not, "miscarries." The Hebrew in question here is the key. The Hebrew contains a combination of a noun, yeled, and a verb, yasa. Literally, it means, "the child comes forth." Yeled comes from the root word yalad...

  • @SecularTalk I'd like to respond to a few things in this video as it regards the scripture you quoted and then summarized. I'll make it as brief as possible. For starters, let me clarify something about the Exodus 21 passage you quote. If I had to guess, I'd say that's one of the most misquoted and mistranslated passages of scripture. In fact, I'm not sure what translation you used, but to my knowledge all modern day translations have fixed the translation of "miscarriage" that you mention. ...

  • this is bullshit, lol.

  • Maybe you didn't hear the word that you read, MISCARRIAGE NOT ABORTION.

  • Passages in the Bible that are pro-abortion?? hmm

'44,000 people die a year b/c they have no health insurance' - Not all but, a lot of those people die b/c they don't take care of themselves, it's called a healthy lifestyle by way of common sense. Not to mention that hospitals are just simply cutting back. O, but the over 1.3 MILLION unborn babies aborted every year is of no significance right?

  • Why would you care if the bible is pro abortion?

    who really gives a damn...this 2010...

if ur 12 and get rapped by your father and end up pregnant are you really going to have the baby? What ever tho...no matter what anyone says, abortions are going to be done.

whether its from a professional doctor or not.

  • LoL this video is ridiculous!! You took every one of those passages out of context. No scholar would ever disagree that the Bible is Pro-Life. Learn about hermeneutics and then open your mouth about the word of God. If I were you I would also be careful about being a false teacher of the word, I've heard God's punishment on those people is pretty bad.

  • @sagy52 I agree that these are, obviously, out of context. I'm right in the middle of reading the bible right now. I am interested in where in the bible you derive pro-life points of view. As far as I know it is silent on them. Some early church fathers believed ensoulment didn't take place until after quickening and others on inception. Neither gets it's justification directly from the bible.

  • @AHBritton

you only can interprete the bible in a wrong way as their is no coherent statement about the meaning of any part. if you discuss bible issues and you have several christians taking part, its so funny when they start arguing, even fighting, about the REAL message. (not that you would find much sound arguments though.)

  • dont say smack a bitch. not cool man.

But...the most right, the orthodox faith, is pro choice OR undecided. i would know.

the church can get involved if they want. they are citizens as well. am not saying its good or bad just saying its legitimate.

    be secular man.

those texts were written long before the medical act of abortion was practiced or given as choice to the general public. the bible doesnt say 'dont nuke people' or ' if u taser someone make sure u dont kill them'. its all relative.

  • very interesting.

  • Nicely said. But I was a bit confused when you said we can find tons of passages still "against" abortion.... I cannot find one. When you read Exodus 21, you clearly see that this god does NOT care if the child dies.... as long as you do not kill the adult woman, as the bible strictly states. It's ok to beat your slaves too.... just try not to make it too rough, if they survive a few days without you killing them.... you are totally cool in god's eyes as well. God's favorites owned people !lol

  • oh haven't seen u for a long time. welcome back
