  • Music has no borders !

  • love the mariachi version :D ViVa El Mariachi !!!

  • this is one of the most beautiful songs ever in Japan

and now he brought me one of the most beautiful male vocal version of that song

I can't but have tears flown as I think twice of Japan earthquake and current worldwide disaster

I hope this video will heal their hearts gently and guide us to positive and peaceful future...

thanks wansob for sharing this video!

  • Pretty moving, especially considering what happened in Japan recently. I heard he sang in Japan at a benefit for the earthquake victims. He's such a sweet, generous person. :)

  • Challenge met and bravery exemplified.

  • This actually brought tears to my eyes. Everything about it. The fact that Placido Domingo and Misora Hibari are two of my all-time my favorite singers in the entire history of this (or any other) universe probably has something to do with it.

....I gotta go find some kleenex now.

  • What a REMARKABLE performance !

..to sing in Japanese !,,it was a funny" experience "for him to sing and for us to hear!

I would be happy to listen to him even if he would have been singing just in..LA LA LAAA "language" :-)

    ..

  • great song !!!

  • sugoooooiiiiii ôÔ

  • Great job!!!!!!!!!Bravo!!!

    Qué voz!

    Excelente!...

  • It is can be more best than this, but this is relative good for a non-Japanese tenor.don't you?!

  • adorabile topone.....

  • HE IS STILL SO HANDSOME!!!!

  • @gharusa Yep! :) Keep it up, Placido!

  • Bravo, Placido Domingo. Now it is time for you to sing in Hebrew and Yiddish. We know

you spent 2 years in Israel in the early 1960s

so you are familiar with the language, and

Yiddish has a similar pronunciation to

German. I can imagine Placido Domingo singing´ cantorial classics such as KOL NIDRE, ELI, ELI and others made famous by Yosele Rosenblatt and Moyshe

Oysher. We are waiting for you, Placido

  • @AbrahamDiner

I think he's already sung in Herbew, search 'Noam Sheriff Placido Domingo' here on youtube.

  • Fraquinho....

  • He did a great job! ... MAGNIFICO!!

  • could jay-z or someone make a rap version? it would beat all the rest. (juz joking) domingo makes it sound so majestic..

  • As a Japanese speaker, I disagree with comments above. Domingo has done his homework here. The Japanese is understandable and it sounds like he does know what he is singing. As somebody else said, phrasing when singing Japanese is far from easy. The title means, Like the flow of a river, but I'm kind of glad he didn't try an English or other translated version.

  • Fantastico! What a voice, and to try another language that you don't even understand. I give him a lot of credit for even trying. The phrasing in Japanese songs is very difficult to get especially when you don't know how to speak the language.

  • poor guys next to him

the second he opens his mouth he's the only one you can actually listen

  • bravooo placido bravoooooooooooo

  • Bravo Domingo!

  • genio

  • Wow I really admire this guy

  • Stunningly beautiful setting and, of course, performance.

  • That was so cool. Yeah his pronunciation was a little off but.......damn!

  • Love his version (though I have the utmost respect to the original singer, Hibari, too). I'm Japanese, and his pronunciation is very very nice to my ears. I think it shows his respect to other culture.

  • the brown hair lady is beautiful

    whats her name

  • Bravo!!!!!!!

I liked that much better than the "3 Tenors" version. Placido! Simply glorious.

I'm glad he got his specs out in time! ^_^

  • Wonderful, wonderful: the finest vocal performer (singing ability/language/dramatic capability....) of his time. Wonderful, wonderful.

  • WOW. What a treat to hear. I've always loved this song, and its performed beautifully.

  • ES UN CANTANTE SUMAMENTE VERSATIL.

    Part1:

Without knowing it, I have walked here

    This long and narrow road

    Looking back, long distance away

    I can see my hometown

On the uneven and winding road

There is no map to follow.

Again, life is the same way.

  • Thank you very much! Beautiful words!

  • @Taiwanensis part two

  • Part 2: Like the river flowing leisurely, Time passes through the ages Like the river flowing endlessly, The sky is tinted (red) by the sunset Life is a journey on an endless road with my love beside me I search for dreams Even this muddy road in the rain Will some day see a sunny day
  • Part 3:

    Like the river flowing leisurely,

I entrust myself gently to the flow of nature

Just like the changing flow of the river

Awaiting the season to change and the snow to melt

    Like the river flowing leisurely,

I entrust myself gently to the flow of nature

    Like the river flowing eternally,

while listening to the sound of blue stream
