  • Koreans should be proud of the wonders they did in 1980s. So moving.

  • This may sound odd, and extremely off topic. I hope you don't hate me for saying this.

    Pingu bought me here.

  • I was very lucky to be stationed there in the army. It really was a very happy time in and for Korea,i was very proud of them, they did a perfect job showing national pride.

  • What the hell are those Chinese who are trying to bash Korea?

LOL though I am Korean, I don't really have offense on china, but as I have seen their comments on this vid, it makes me hate China. Now that thanks a lot, doesn't it?

  • @callofduty7813 I am Chinese and I apologize for negative comments of my compatriots on your country. You know Chinese are very sensitive and lack the ability to tell the authenticity of information. I do not believe Koreans "steal" Chinese culture because you Koreans have a different culture, although related with Chinese culture.

  • @callofduty7813 Also, most of the news about Koreans "stealing" Chinese culture is untrue. So I cannot understand why so many Chinese hate Koreans without reasons. It is true that South Korea still needs to improve, but you Koreans have done a good job in the past 20 years.

  • The Seoul and Barcelona Olympics probably produced the best theme songs in the more recent Olympics history - none could match thereafter.

  • very very nice nice song hand in hand by koreana, thanx thanx koreana i love you.frm gerald ng manila philippines

  • I am so proud of South Korea~ I really really hope to see South Korea host the Olympics again. I wasnt born till the 90's..so I never got to see the games in 88 lol But I really hope South Korea hosts again!

  • one more FACT : their (artist name: Koreana) album was sold more than 15,000,000 copies world wide, and this song 'Hand in Hand' hit the 'No.1' chart in 17 countries.

  • @wCoffeeNTea yesssssssssssss

  • this song never ages.. everytime i listen to this song, it touches and moves... also reminds me back in time 1988, i was only about little, so i barely remember.. but was was really successful! i see some arguement here, but history should not be manipulated for political reason. YES, 1988 Seoul Olympic was 2ND TIME IN ASIA after Japan: 1964 in Japan, 1988 in S.Korea, 2008 in China - each has about 20 years gap between. one more, 2002 Korea-Japan World cup was the first time ever in Asia.

  • wow i just wow i love this

  • That is my point after reading some coments from Chineses users in this video. Chinese will never be able to overcome their problems with other nations if they keep their narrow mind. They think they are the best in Asia, however, their living standards is so poor comparable to their neighbors Japan and Korea. Well...turning back to the video itself, I will say that it was a wonderful olimpic games. Peace & Love.

  • Wow..This video just makes me think? What a peaceful time in the World..Where did we all go wrong?

  • You want to see every game on live from the comfort of your home ? watch them here

    watch?v=0mqgQliWK1I

  • peace i pray and hope for all mankind

  • The best song...EVER

RIO 2016 - LIVE YOUR PASSION

  • It's a solemn, beautiful song with some hidden Korean patriotic references (e.g., arirang, morning calm, Korean drums, etc.).

  • the best song.....

    hand in hand together.....

  • this is the best Olympic song!! arirang!

  • I was a competitor at these games, so great to find this, and it was the Opening Ceremonies in 1984, 1980, 1976, 1972 etc etc that inspired me!

  • this is the day the world united. still brings a tear to my eye. death to the infidels.

  • The best olympic theme (and not only) song ever .

I've searched for many years this song in Italy , but only via Web I 've Found it. Very Strange 'cause the Italian Composer , the Very Clever Giorgio Moroder...

SEE THE FIRE IN THE SKY.........

  • the best olympic theme song ever .

i was a kid in 88 but this song really was touching and still awesome.

Koreana , they are korean but they grown up in europe and they barely stayed in korea . hmm . i remember they were on tv show at that time and talked about that .

i think at that time all was great .

music , people , and the world.

  • I remember these games with fondest memories. Seoul was the best! I turned 16yrs on this very day of the opening ceremony - 17 September. This theme song is as we kiwis say 'sweet as'. - so catchy and cool. The whole games was just so memorable and full of highlights and positives, inspite of the ben johnson incident which until full facts emerged, had me gasping at the feat as people did 20 years later with usain bolt . Thanks for the memories Seoul, well done South Korea !!! From New Zealand

  • It's a beautiful song. I have the recorded NBC broadcast of the performance from the opening ceremonies way back in '88. The tape is old, yes, but still works. This version sounds so much better because it didn't have the commentary from Dick Enberg and Bryant Gumbel, both of whom butchered the song by talking during it.

  • this is the best of the best song

  • I wish North and South Korea to Unify and host the next oylmpics as a one new nation. That would be so meaningful

  • waaaaaaaa!!!!!i take that song in school

and also it make me cry Hand in Hand we

    can start to understand WAAAAAA!!!

  • najlepszy hit letnich igrzysk olimpijskich

  • Najlepsze otwarcie olimpiady przez 2000 lat.

    Nigdy takie się nie powtórzy

  • That's my favourite song

  • This song makes me cry.

  • I was in the army in korea that year, wow! what a mad house! but it was a great for that country, it really set them ahead.I was on gaurd at Kimpo airport, i was sick of this song, i must of heard it a million times a day.

  • This is really 80's... that's awesome!

  • simeple yet fundamental, inspiring and important message in this song and images especially considering political situations these days. It's beautiful looking at people from different culture share their minds at the moment. True destiny and direct human beings should go to. Thanks for posting this.

  • Wished this song would relly come to life as people need to really, really put aside their differences and work together. For the common good of both man and woman.

  • Everything would change and everything has changed, that inculde China,Korea and your jap,but not you.

  • i am extremely proud with the beijing olympics but have to admit it was not a perfect one. On the other hand, i think that the seoul olympics was the most touching and successful olympics. i was only 10 at that time. well done seoul and thx for the memories you gave me.

  • i was 10 too at that time!! It was the most memorable Olympics ever!!The last Olympics that Yugoslavia as a whole entered before the breakaway.

  • hi everyone, chinese from hong kong here. just came here wanted to listen to seoul olympic theme song, cos i thought this was the best olympic song ever . Having a war in words here? what a pitty.. personally, i hv a lot of korean friends, and i also think that most and most of the chinese people love your country south korea and ur culture. well... we are fully aware that our country far of being perfect; just think there's no need for insulting each other. truth is most chinese respectkorea

  • I also think we have to break the wall btwn Koreans and Chinese and respect each other!

Having you saying that I was very flattered!

It is time for us to make our relationship closer and harmonious, not the time to pit ourselves against each other and having endless fight forever :)

  • Why the hell would you break the wall between Korea and China...? I think you meant North Korea and South Korea...?

  • I meant the wall of our heart. Read btw the lines, jesus.

  • the best!!!

  • T.T as a rule. real olympic.

  • If this is what South Koreans think in general, I really pity you guys, and I am not going to waste my time here with your puz, so enjoy some of your pride when you still can, 'cause 20 years from now, you guys will know how your ancestors felt for centuries, the GaoLi nomads as ancient Chinese would call.

  • well fuck u Chink boy~ 20years from Now China will be boroken inot pieces~

  • haha ur ancestors?? those idiots who tried to take over Korea for so long but couldn't??? lol i feel sorry for those nice chinese people i know cuz a person like u is ruining the image of the whole country. I hope u realize it one day.

  • Listen up all you paranoid to ignorant South Korean punks, if you guys dare come to China, we will show you how we treated you ancestors centuris ago, so stay back in your wussy pussy home.

20 years from now, you guys will have you tails between your legs and kow-tow all the way to Beijing.

  • Hey Chinese punk Y don't u suck my toes in order to get the honor for ur family? huh? 20years from now, You Chinese will suck toes to live~

  • isn't it a bit ironic how this year's olympic theme is HARMONY and all of you are fighting over which country is better?

china is awesome, so is korea n both yrs olympics. and dont say anything about either koreans or chinese without knowing anything about them.

you non-asian people hardly know ANYTHING about asians, their histories, the reasons of their conflicts etc... so you have no say in this matter. geez. who do u think u are, buttin into other countries' bussiness.

  • Amen to that!

  • You hate China at the first place...

I have to apologize for my impoliteness,

but I assure that no one could tolerate their mother country to be bad-mouthed... Right???

Before you criticize China...or comment on the Chinese affairs, please study Chinese Culture, than you may understand the way we go!!

Once again, I am sorry for my discourteous

    comment!!!

Moreover, do you really think Beijing Olympic Game's ceremony was really that bad????

  • Best Olympic opening ceremony about everybody putting differences aside, working together for peace and harmony. And the goodwill of man.

  • WOW! This brings back memories! I was only 8 years old back then :p One of the greatest Olympics Songs of all time!

  • We are living in the same world

why do you people always attack chinese---Chinks???

But I think it is the tradition for the foreigners to discriminate others....

the colonialism, imperialism...maybe it is the nature of you!!!!

  • Y? U TELL ME Y! Idiot! Do u think Korean peole want to call Chinese people, Chinks! heck NO!! Look at Chinese people's behavior here! They talk shit about Korea and Korean olyipic for no reason! U TELL ME Y! HUH?

  • Sure very typical of qinks, always blaming westerners for whatever Koreans or other Asians might hold against you. Very typical of qinks indeed.

  • yeah it's called inherent nationalism

that ANY PERSON belonging to ANY country

naturally and rightfully has. It's separated by a thin red line from our oh-so-important PATRIOTISM. Oh, and have a bite at this:

WHY DO YOU THINK that of all countries "hated on" by the modern world, China is a the summit? Tell me it is mere coincicdence.

  • This Olympic theme was the best... Really well made and toching as well... Wonderful!

/BTW,,, why are chinese people here abusing Koreans? I personally dislike chinese as they are very rude and stinky...

  • yea chinks stink like shit

  • 지금 봐도 완벽하다

  • oh yeah? try it if you can, China wouldn't even need to do it, North Korea will kick you South Korean's skinny ass..

  • i was in my mother's uterus at that time. i think i heard this song when i was in there :) it feels like a very familiar song to me

  • Best Olympic opening ceremony & theme song ever.

  • DID YOU KNOW...

China is effectively hiding the fact that

1988 olympics was held in Seoul, SOUTH KOREA as they are now celebrating/advertising their 08 olympics? (in china only)

The govt claim that their olympic is 2nd in Asia next to Japan. And the many uncivilized citizens actually believe it.

  • What, are you serious? Disgusting qinks.

  • what the f*** are u talking about? you are just a so fool. where the hell did u get that idea? Jerk

  • icedoo// instead of just blabbering offensive words at me, how about FINDING out about it? It's clearly shown in their domestic version of olympics guide/intro. Where the hell did u get that idea that it's NOT? jerk? what? you mad cause i picked your chink's stupidity?

  • fensh//

=> Idont care how you call Koreans pig since im not Asian, but you chinks call them gooks so you people deserve to be called chinks.

You chinks also do stuff to be looked down.

Wash up? Wash your dirty chinese ppl.

show what?war? that's how you poor country can argue back. any logical args? No, this is not tha place for you to say how 'great' your country is/was. Chinkland got raped by japan anyways.

I was discussing that CHINA govt is hiding the 88 Seoul olympics.

  • chinese stinks i agree wit u

  • still way much better than 100 times of all you monkey family combined

  • hahaha? Chinese? 100times better than us? hahahah u meant 100times dirtier? right? since when did u take shower?

  • oh yeah, not Asian? then I am not going to waste my time with you primitive monkey.

Show us where your little pig hole is if you dare, maybe I will pay you a visit and cut your little pig tail to whip your skinny monkey ass.

Hiding the 88 olympics? what kinda dream you were seeing in your little monkey brain?

By the way, learn how to spell before you type ok? punk

  • fensh06/

your argument to my comment is very silly.

Not asian=primitive monkey to you? haha

pay me a visit? go ahead

yes, you people were quick to hide 1988 seoul olympics to use propaganda as 2nd asian nation to hold Olympics after 1964 japan olympics. Not internationally, but in regional conventions.

learn to spell? haha good nitpicking. No, I'm not going to revise my grammar/spelling in 500word Youtube comment section.

Stay on subject instead of your pointless bashings

  • Heck No I will never ever teach Chinese to my children, cause it is such a waste of time. U can teach ur chinese children chinese OK?

  • shut the dirty mouth up. Chink

  • This is to "fensh06", not to Koreana.

  • banana, bow and knee down, you little Korean bunx

  • hahaha, hey chinese boy y don't u knee down and lick our toes for ur honor?

  • are u all scolding 'China's Chinese' ? or all the Chinese around the world?

  • I hate chinese

    they're so dirty

  • Goooooooooooooood~~

  • is this the opening or closing ceremony?

  • the part of opening^^

  • One of the best! But beijing 2008 is at least not worse than "hand in hand"

  • yea ur rite. Wut Chinese are doing right now is just masterbating them selves^,^ every single nation is boycotting and demonstrating on China. yea u rite China man, good job keep dreaming. ^,^

  • We can just wait and see what will happen after the Beijing Olympics. Some nations have poor little history so they could do nothing but stealing from others, like language, celebrity and cultural events. They are poor, but i show sympathy on them, they deserve it.

  • hahaha are u talking about Chinese fantasy nobles? hahaha No one will watch and go to Beijing to watch olympics. cause it's only Chinese party not for the other nations. Yea u will c China will borken out into pieces in 10years maybe not even 10years. u will c who was right.

  • Don't keep" hahaha" like a moron. With more than 5000 years history, China is becoming the leader of the globe. boken into pieces in 10 years? what a joke! Yeah, maybe one day, China will break into pieces, but by that time, many countris are already gone, including yours.

  • LMAO. If someone is laughing, u call that a moron? What kinda idea is that? A Chinese idea? hahaha Chinese history is like broken glasses. They couldn't keep their empire not even 500years. Look at Xinjang Wiguru and Tibet, they all want to indenpent from China. U ever heard the news that two young men from Xinjang killed 16 Chinese police men? U C they must get back their land back from Chinese.

  • It's a pity that some Korean boys are making fun of China because China "could not keep their empire for 500 years?" I wonder who gave you that idea? well if the South Koreans want to have a place in the future, better kiss up to the Chinese in next 200 years, because if you don't, there is no place for you guys. Oh yeah the bombing, listen up little wussie, that's because China is a big country, not a tiny winnie place like South Korea! get it?!

  • and plus, U said China is becoming the leader of the globe? Are u fucking retarded? they are communist party. They can't be the leader. and they just started to get their economy get better. But u know what? they are still having problems of economy these days.

  • which country doesn't problems? don't act like an idiot. shame on you!

  • yes that's called developing, what was South Korea looking like 50 years ago? like I said, if you are a boy I forgive you, if you are a grow-up, better teach you kids Chinese ok?

  • Lindo...Lindo...Lindo!! Que saudades!!

  • wow great song i was 5

  • Seoul Olympics was absolutely beautiful!

Ever since that south korean athlets are kicking our butts in the Olympics.

Please join us to BOYCOTT BEIJING 2008!!!

Watch history of human rights violation in china.

video search->chinese torture atrocities: beheadings death by a 1000 cuts

World won't forget TIBET! World is watching BURMA!

  • Let's boycott ur fucking ass!!! If you do watch the 2008 olympics and even one event on tv, I hope you die in pain, including your children and family, since you want to boycott!?

  • mikebostonjones: your ignorance have gotten you blinded well. I am no commie nor am I worshipping for anybody or anyone. I am not Chinese either so you can go smack yourself on the head. I can assure you that YOU will watch the games though and YOU know it!!! Rest assure that nobody should mix sports with politics! Who are you to say anyways... are you a politician? a person with power? do you have a country to run? None of the above huh, then perhaps I should not need to comment further to you.

  • Honestly I am so glad that you guys have found a way to fight over the damn Olympics. Something that should bring peace, love, countries together, you have desicrated on. Congrats. and Mikebostonjones.original. You write a comment on injustice which is fine. I understand. I have a Bhutanese friend but then you throw out the low blows. a Chinc, really? You need to check yourself. Put your testosterone away and come out with you brain, stupid.

  • mikebostonjoes: Hip Hip hooray!!! Beijing Olympics will go all the way! We don't need fags like you to cheer on this event. You are not important to the sport. One day YOU will bend over and get banged by Americans and suck old Japanese cocks u FART! Hahaha!

  • You are pretty stupid. Boycotting Beijing won't stop the Olympics from not happening or stop human rights violation. By the way, what standards of human rights are you talking about?

If you are talking about American rights, you can never compare rights in US with rights in China. They are two completely different cultures. If you want to impose a different culture of rights on China just because you think every country should be like the US, you're an arrogant bastard.

  • 30 years passed, north koreans are still not liberated!

  • well hey, It's not from lack of trying

  • terrific song !!
