Did you know that this is a true story (or at least a 'true' story)? According to Joe, he heard this story from a guy sitting next to him in a bar once. So it's not about killing Santa (seriously guys...?!?!) and probably not about God taking vengeance (though I like that idea), but about... well, read the lyrics. AWESOME song, imo.
@DesiPanga512 I'm pretty sure it's about someone who stole his kids' presents, not someone who gave them their presents. Unless you mean Santa as a sort of vigilante who's going to give the presents to the needier children in the slums.
This song has been on repeat for me for two days now. At first i was sedated by the vocals and the atmosphere it creates. Then I couldn't stop laughing when I read the lyrics. I got punked hahahaha. Such a great song.
Hmm. Well, I know what I'm going to do next time someone takes my Christmas Gifts. These guys are pretty chill since, you know, they basically sang about killing a bitch who stolen christmas presents.
Keeping the bands Christian beliefs in view, the father in the story could be God the Father taking vengeance on the thief who has stolen his children's innocence and the sorrow that has been inflicted on His children. Roman 12:19 "Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord." Just a theory. I can't know what they are trying to say.
... naaa. I think it's just a song about a guy who right or wrong takes out a guy who wronged his kids. I highly doubt they intended a sermon. But good observation on your part.
@malikamakamuki You could be right, but I did say that my thoughts were just a theory. Having said that however I just don't think this piece can be taken at face value. It's like reading poetry. You can just read it and say "that's a nice poem", or you can read it more than once and start to see what the author is really saying. I could be wrong in my analysis but I don't think this song is what it seems to be on the surface. Within it are clues to what it is that they are talking about.
@methosofgondor One more thought. Most poems can be taken in more than one way. That is not to say that one way or another is better. It could be that one person sees one thing and someone else sees something totally different. I've been in poetry classes where people saw things so different in the same poem that it was staggering. That's part of the beauty of art.
@methosofgondor I read somewhere that this song was key to the band getting signed to Candyrat. At first rpoland found the lyrics "disturbing." But the artistic value of the song is what came through. Like a screen writer writing a murder plot or an author, like Stephen King, writing a horror story. Kindo is so good at matching words to music then to vocals. It's scary how big they can, and should be.
@themulberrystealers I can tell you that none are. That's just pure natural talent. A couple of them took lessons when they were younger and one took a semester of music theory, but that's it. Kelly, the old keys player and the one playing in this song, just left the band to study music in Boston. Their new keys player is no slouch either.
I will not be your judge because you chose what you felt was the right thing to do so your children were not hurt by one more person making (a choice that he paid for dearly). Great vocals and the band is delicious-to the soul. I will check out more of this delightful fantastical band. Thanks to those beautiful souls that share their knowledge of these great bands. <3 you DEARLY. ;-) XXXOOO
@DAMMITSANTANA The children and their toys are obviously a metaphor for something else. I would assume the man who stole the toys (which are a metaphor) represents another man, metaphorically.
That or the writer might be trying to say something about homicide. I don't know, but those are some ideas to think about.
when I listened to this song attentively and understood the lyrics, I was surprised lol. I LOVE how this song's about chasing and killing someone for running away with his kids Christmas presents
@EvilJamJar; Explain, please. Not sure what U mean. I think it's extreemly well writen and composed. The words might be disturbing to some but then again it's no diferent than watching a murder movie or reading a murder novel. Like a comment I read put it, a song like this gets people talking and thinking on social issues, not like the bubble gum garbage the radio floods us with. Bottom line, these guys are pretty damn good as musicians, storey tellers, poets, etc.
thanks for uploading! ... the only thing - wouldn't it be better advice in your info section to have everybody that wants this song buy it on itunes or candyrat's site? rather than downloading programs to rip mp3s off of youtube? :)
Indeed; Tha background vocals are so well done it's ridiculously amazing. Starting at :54 it builds up then at 1:01 it gives such an haunting & eerie feel. These guys are musical geniuses. Just listen to the rest of their songs & see for yourself.

I love the ending. I just imagine the narrator sitting in a rocking chair drinking tea in front of a dim fire place, humming that tune to himself.

@malikamakamuki Sick is slang for good

@Isythos I get that. But with a song like this, it's hard to tell if that comment meant "sick" good, or "sick" twisted.
