US spends lot of their defence budget in maintaining 100s of bases around the world. How much china spends? SO they save money here. The reason why they're full of crap is because imposing tariffs on Chinese imports or taking other measures to reduce Chinese imports does little to affect the current account.
If they knew that trade barriers do little to affect private savings, invesment and budget deficit [ CA = (Sp - I) + (T - G) ] they'll learn that Chinese imports is the only thing slowing down the decay of the US economy.

Russia and China arn't in it to benefit each other. It's purely political and purely for image. Someone has to be able to scare America, and no country on Earth can do it alone.
The problem is, the Russians claim backing to the Chinese, but will they actually make good if war breaks out? America is certainly too scared to find out. The political aims of the partnership seem to be working.

"chapsroc", u say china haven't been on loosing side since ww2. what about korean war? NK received direct manpower aid from China and they lost hard: 1.5 million dead combined, comparing to less than 0.5 mil on coalition side! Not counting 5 mil dead korean civilians.

Eah, but the original goal was to capture entire Korean penisula. They failed and the best they could do was to push back past the 38th, then US pushed them back to 38th, but no further because it could provoke nuclear war and not because they couldn't.

McCarthur invaded NK and pushed them almost all the back to China's border. PLA and NK countered and pushed back MaCarthure to present day DM zone. Koreas are technically at war today, because US refused to sign the peace agreement with NK....

We should say it is a draw at Korean War.
But at that time the NK have no power to regain their land back. So the China People`s Volunteer Army succeeded halfway by recapture NK which start from nothing. While the UN forces lost NK after they capture it. So, the UN lost halfway.

No, you read some historical points.
September 1950. SK is on the verge of defeat, only a small pocket of SK troops holds out in south-east corner of penisula. then allied in vasion pushes NK back and by November only smal pockets of NK forces remain. Then China sends reinforcements and pushes way past 38th parrallel. Half way INTO SK, they get smashed and driven back to 38th by UN which DECIDED not to move further.

Of course China is or will be a super power. This country remained as a world super power for 2,000 years. But it suffered too much in the past 200 years when China turned to inward-looking. Now, it's just the time to redeem and return to greatness.
For such a huge country with so large population, it is very natural for China to build up it's own military power to protect it's border and sovereignty. I just don't get it why USA looks so unconfident!
