  • Awesome. I have to play this on marimba as well and it's really hard.

  • Is a fantastic interpretation!

in 0:40 2:18 and 3:02 you got the idea!

  • i would like to hear some impros of yours

  • hey man-nice touch! was that note-perfect? It sounded great.

  • Awesomee ! *.*

    You're amazing and beautiful :D

  • Very nice!

  • muy bueno si señor,hay musicalidad,un tempo estable y una coherencia en el fraseo(yo la toco algo mas rapida, mas virtuosistica pero),genial chico sigue asi

  • That is brilliant. I played this on violin and always forgot about dynamics - yours were great!

  • beautiful, simply beautiful

  • Did you say this is a "homemade" marimba? Did you make it yourself? And if so where did you get the bars? Excellent playing and musicianship.

  • Hi!

I'm putting the finishing touches on the same piece for my college auditions.

Anyway, I liked your playing..I'd suggest you experiment with one thing, if you're still working on it.

When you have a line that is accompanying another, you can play with where your beating spot is in relation to the resonator. It adds a level of shading that is a nice effect.

  • Magnifico, gran interpretacion de Bach!!

  • dude awesome! Didnt miss almost any notes! Dynamics excellent, like ur voicing a lot. The one thing I would say is that u should stretch some parts more to give the beggining or the ending of a phrase. Also to play a little bit louder when it comes when reaching the climax. If u do this i would think its perfect! Very nice job, especially bc playing this pays in front of an audience makes it even harder than what it is! Keep it up!

  • woah awesome

  • That was awesome! What a beautiful instrument to do it on, and a great job of playing. Thanks, made my day.

  • Great!!

  • fantastic!

    Try onother variant works.

  • n.i.c.e.

  • Enough of the bitchy comments! I think this guy holds a marvellous tension in this piece, with a splendidly light touch which is quite revelatory. In Classical music, pace (tension with or without rubato) is all - the rest is just notes.

  • You've made my day

  • Well done Christian, beautiful performance :-) I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work!

  • I quite like this piece.

    :)

Are you looking to go into percussion like, for college and later professionally at all? Or do you want to keep it a hobby?

  • what's your age?

  • I am 17.

  • now play this with 4 mallets.

  • What's the need? If it only takes two mallets to play why bother picking up another 2? You're one of those people who believe Bach needs to look harder than it is. I am currently playing this piece with 4 mallets but it's only because that is what I feel more comfortable doing. I guess my point is are you playing music in order to play music or to show off...

    (great chops, btw)

  • take it easy dude, I wasn't trying to be critical! i only said that light-heartedly.

I learned this in both ways and the piece is a good work out for 4 mallet independence. that's all, just passing on tips for fellow marimbists, don't judge.

  • oops, and i forgot to mention, you would have the advantage of using a graduate set of mallets (using a softer mallet in the bass). it will bring out the voices better.

    cheers

  • I think the problem is that this was played on a home-made marimba with PVC resonators. We used 2" ID PVC on the lowest bars, but they still don't voice as well as they should. Thanks.
