  • i once did something like this to shoot a few models for a casting, where i needed to shoot at different distances.

  • Nice video. But wouldn't this only work for tripod setups? when you go hand held the distances between you and you subject aren't always consistent. Unless i guess you stop down a little bit.

  • @mgeezy89 - no, not only from tripod. I just got back from calumet photographic and they sell the genius system there. There was a large white focus track set up for 1800 dollars total. There is a little metal pin that you can adjust to be within your sight (this is on a shoulder mount DSLR set up for video) - in any case, when shooting movies very often there will be place markers on the ground where the action happens - photographers can put dots on the wheels to get the shot!
