cops are such pigs these days killing a homeless man which had a perfectly leagal knife and minding his own buisness, wow thats terrible i think that police really should have a undrerstanding of what they do to innocent people, by being put in the same situation, there at the grocery store, off duty and he has his taser, casheer sees the weapon and asks him to leave the store he takes his taser and shoots the casheer then a different casheer shoots him with a gun and saves her co-worker
@CooldudeXXL I agree, much worse. I just toned it down because I didn't want to hear some liberal-pansy bullshit about the Death Penalty being wrong.

American cops are such pussys. Where I come from, regular cops don't have or need guns yet they still deal with knives, golf clubs and violent individuals. All about superior training and...not being scared little bitches.
@theonlydann The last thing i'm suggesting is that American police should be disarmed. Much like the Middle East and Africa, America is saturated with weapons so disarming the police wouldnt make anyone safer. Admittably my original comment was a bit 'troll like'. The point I was trying to make is that some police in the US bring out their guns for situations that simply do not warrent it. There are plenty of techniques to bring someone down without giving in to an itchy trigger finger.
Seattle reported their getting their own t.v. cop show today . They were investigated cause they kill everyone they come in contact with .Scum . They shake in thier boots for sure !
Here in Puget Sound area. Seattle use to be a highly regarded police force. A lot of people now consider them to be some of the most corrupt police in the state. Kinda funny how they switched potions with the Tacoma police. They have gotten better. They use to be very corrupt but with a lot media and public eyes on them they had to clean up. Hope it happen in Seattle.
Congratulate yourself all you want. They still aren't getting prosecuted.
8 seconds to shoot a senior homeless man with a pocket knife.. that's fucking embarrassing. How can you say things are getting better when that cop is back on the street with a loaded gun? Next time your 12 yr old will get blasted with a 12 gauge for carrying a baseball bat... and a mitt and a ball. Hey, 7 seconds.. he wasn't listening. The fact that cops actually back these guys is like me backing a drug dealer.
In the Utah case where the guy was obviously surprised by armed men bursting in the house unquestionably with full force and drama; why would these law enforcers think to shoot him dead when they are the strangers in dark clothing and armed and ready to kill. A baseball bat doesn't shoot bullets at lightning speed; couldn't they just take cover and scream that they are the police or DEA or something or shoot the guy in the leg instead? What words did they say to the mother of the dead man?
But when the president commits war crimes, that's okay. The real terrorist threat comes from our own government. I hate this toilet bowl country, and all it's criminal cartel that we call government.
Then leave. You're just as bad as the Leftists. I have serious problems with certain aspects and elements, but things aren't so bad that I'd ever characterize it the way you did. There's a brighter future ahead, and I'm going to help bring it to pass. If you're so extremely pessimistic and hateful, then you can go find another country you like better.
@canofsand I was born here before it turned to siht. the cartel that's overthrown our government has no business running loose. Obomber is a Mossad operative, a fraud, and congress is asleep. The senate is too busy F-cking off to impeach the war criminal that's running this once great nation into third worldism. I don't hate the country, I hate the government.
@joebananatube Obama is a Mossad operative? Okay, you're nuts. There's no evidence Obama even LIKES Israel, let alone that he does their bidding. So, again, please leave.
The cop in the Seattle case, Ian Birk, wasn't really cleared of any wrongdoing. The prosecutor simply didn't want to bring charges against him. The police dept declared that Birk acted contrary to procedure and training and allowed him to resign rather than fire him, which they certainly would have done. I can't imagine why an officer would simply shoot to kill a person who refused an order. What if the man happened to be deaf or mentally deficient? That can't just be bad training.
amazing... the swat team didn't even give a verbal warning they just shot him automatically. and not even trying to taze the homeless guy just saying put down the knife and fired multiple times. what a waste of life, and to think that some cops dont want people to be able to video tape them... fucking ridiculous.
@CrimsonEdge38 my guess is that you have never been shot anywhere in your body. Shoot a person holding a knife in the leg and 99% of the time he/she would drop to the ground nursing the bullet pain. But then again, a bullet in the head always does a better job at dropping the citizen for good
@CrimsonEdge38 moron, I did not ask for for most effective way to kill an assailant. But then again maybe the idiot thugs we have as policemen are not trained to subdue but to kill the citizens who are forced to pay their salaries.
The first one isn't really abuse. Obviously, there where quick trigger fingers involved but you have to be an absolute idiot to come out with a golf club half naked...they yell "Police!" etc for a reason. Get the fuck down.
@ntheory You know... you're right. The police department could have also just ceased to exist or the people and businesses could have just stopped paying taxes. Fucking asshole citizens. They funded this murder.
Ok how about something feasible that doesn't violate the purpose of the entity.
@omgawesome They don't yell "police" and knock on the door for a bonus on their paychecks...it means get the fuck down to the ground, not be hero with a golf club and bust out of a bathroom. It was a sad incident but maybe they should have sent the guy a postcard a few weeks ahead of time so he would have known they were coming then
@Ruinous The invasion of the man's home is an abhorrent abuse in itself but that's so common and it's seen as acceptable behavior for "law enforcers." Killing a man attempting to protect himself is apparently ok for the cops as well. The police don't value human life. If they did they wouldn't create situations where they scare the shit out of people then have to shoot them if they react in any way other than cowering in the floor.
@Ruinous The fact that stories like that are pointed to as "abuse" regardless, as well as others often omitting greater context of the incident, should make you question the entire narrative. Reason's an agenda-pusher like any other political group. Sometimes they make good, truly reasoned points. Other times, you have to question their intellectual honesty. Just what kind of organization would "err" on the side of anti-police? Their semi-"anarchist"/"liberaltarianism" tendencies are too strong.
the second incident is a clear example of why an armed citizenry is extremely important. if I had been in the woman passing by's position I would would have shot the cop as soon as he had drawn his weapon in order to prevent what is clearly a case of assault.
All cops aren't like this though. These guys are the exception not the majority so dont portray it the other way around. I know cops and they are some of the nicest by the book people I know.
@rockinandout That's why this video is called 3 worst cases in 2011. If you pay attention to the interview, Radley is pretty fair in saying that although police brutality and dept transparency is improving, we still have a long way to go.
Here's a question: What if that so-called homeless man had a family backing him? What if they paid attention? Might that officer not have gotten off so easily?
Police abuse shouldn't be internal review. It should be straight up judicial system. I just don't think they have a fair shot of going behind bars for a long, long time if their superiors are doing the judging.
Never forget that the police ARE the government. They are a department of the government just as a senator, congressman, mayor, bureaucrat, etc. The police are behaving exactly as the government wants them to. Oh, wait, that's right, they are the government!
Man, that's some scary shit. I'd hate to come out of my bed with a gun to defend my home because I thought someone was breaking into it, and get shot by the fucking police or a swat team. I'd fucking haunt them for the rest of there miserable sorry ass lives.
But, in case people have just ignored one of my questions, let me ask it again. After a bit of research, 2 of the three clips shown in this video did NOT occur in 2011. Why is video entitled "Radley Balko on the 3 Worst Cases of Police Abuse in 2011?"
To me, this is obvious padding by thse guys, and it's just as shameful reporting as the mainstream media performs.
@CaitiffFTW These aren't box scores. From the description (which also links to all three of the videos) "three most-shocking videos of police abuse that have come to light so far in 2011." In other words these events, although some actually happening in 2010, only recently got the press they deserved in the last few months. Or they are likely ongoing official investigations, etc. Or they are now being properly investigated by people like Balko. Hardly shameful padding, dontcha think?
For cops here in Denver were fired last week for lying in their reports. This is a very very small amount of the lying and corruption that goes on in this this and other Colorado cities.
That woman witnessed the cop kill a homeless guy as if she was watching some dog crap on the sidewalk... it didn't seem to phase her at all. The sheeple are more in danger from cops then criminals.
I don't care what uniform you wear or what "holy" war you wage, if you break into my house with guns drawn to rob me or my family you better have brought all your friends too; words can combat State aggression only to an idealistic extent, at some point there must be defensive measures taken by the individual to ensure his succession from this coercive imperialist regime. government is merely a gang of thugs with more guns than you. be brave, stand up to tyranny.
Here's what all of this boils down to. I'm saying that, yes, some police officers are corrupt. But, that's because some people are corrupt. The first shooting shown on this video does not suggest abuse or corruption to me, especially after having seen the unedited footage. The second one? Not hearing everything that happened, I'm forced to trust the ruling that it was clean. The third one was clear corruption. But, if only 1 in 3 are corruption, when the topic is corruption, that's just shitty.
Breaking into someone's home for owning a small amount of the wrong vegitation and then shooting people that try to defend themselves is not abuse?
For the second one you yourself say you don't have enough information, it's nonsense you are _forced_ to "trust the ruling". That way you can dismiss anything. But he was shot as a direct result of minding his own business, doing nothing illegal. Why are you trying to explain that away?
@myusernameisluc It's not "breaking in" if they have a warrant. You see, a warrant means that a judge believed that there was sufficiant probable cause to allow the police to go into the residence.
What happened off camera before the officer ordered him to drop the knife? No. Seriously, I want to know. You can't see it, because the camera is in the wrong direction. You can't hear it, because the guy won't shut up, and let the audio speak for itself. What happened?
A piece of paper called a "warrant" issued by a human being doesn't change the nature of the act. If the maffia started to call certain members of their organisation "judges" who in turn distribute "warrants" to extort money from store-owners, they don't magically become right.
In the second video a police officer harassed someone that was minding his own business. It doesn't matter what happened off-camera. The man was shot dead after the officer harassed him for no reason.
@CaitiffFTW What it "boils down to" is you attempt to rationalize and excuse civil liberty abuses, mistakes, cover-ups, and bad cops - your a protectionist of govt corruption. This is only one small video touching upon the subject, once again a Google search is your friend.
@Everett07630 You don't know a damn thing about me. Have I claimed that the police has a perfect moral code? Of course, I haven't. What I have claimed, and no-one has disputed, is that the good FAR outweighs the bad. And, guess what. That's the basic rule for the rest of humanity, as well.
Man... Libertarians sound more and more like Democrats whenever someone disagrees with them. You're not saying that I'm wrong. You're accusing me of being part of a vast conspiracy to hide a vague truth.
@CaitiffFTW All Libertarians need to know about you is plainly displayed in your comments. Of course, you're entitled to your misplaced opinions and pro big government statism. It means you make excuses for overzealous govt authorities violating civil liberties and in some cases murdering people. Police abuse is a legitimate problem and the solution is to reform the system, not burry one's head in the proverbial sand pretending it doesn't exist.
@Everett07630 There's so much bullshit in your last comment that I have no idea where to begin. But, that's typical Liberalism, inherent in your comments. If you can't defend your point of view, attack your opponent. My point of view, at every turn, has been that good cops vastly outnumber bad ones, because good people vastly outnumber bad ones. You have responded to that, at every turn, with insults. I pity you, and your inability to see good in people. You're no longer worthy of my time.
@DoomHippie Police are a paramilitary organization. You don't go with the flow, be prepared to suffer the consequences even if you're right. All government organizations (not necessarily the people in them) are criminal and unethical. It's just something people have to accept if they want to live in a "civilized" society. :P
Strange how cops sometimes use violent force against in uncalled for situtations, such as a person having a potential weapon, but did not threaten anybody.
One instance was a person in their own yard having something (forgot what, was similar to a sword on display) & neighbors called about perceived threat. Police confronted him in yard & the guy was shot & maybe died.
The police have lost the respect of the general public, and I blame the unions for allowing them to think they can get away with it. Maybe it's time to consider outsourcing policing right alongside other public services, since properly trained private security personnel would cost us less and do a better job than most of the cops we've got now.
Police raid, assumingly with a warrant, since no mention otherwise was made, a suspected meth lab. They come across an armed meth adict, who doesn't respond to commands to drop the weapon. They end the threat. How is this abuse?
Commentary covers the audio before the officer told the second guy to put the knife down. Wait a tic... He was cleared? It was deemed a clean shoot? What's the problem?
Holy crap... The third one is actual abuse and corruption. 1 out of 3 is good in baseball, right?
@arcanekrusader Armed junky that refuses to obey commands from police to drop the weapon. Yes. That IS a threat. With what part of that do people have difficulty?
@CaitiffFTW the meth addict doesn't respond? They didn't see him for even 2 seconds before he was shot dead. The guy didn't have time to drop the golfclub. --he shouldn't have been there, he shouldn't have lived with a drug dealer--and he paid for those mistakes with his life.
On the flip side, those cops are on edge, going into a super dangerous situation--I understand that they have to make split second decisions in order to save their lives.
@VegasBilgeRat "Search warrant! Search warrant!" He had more than 2 seconds to respond. Not only that, but the video that was shown here only shows what happened 2 seconds before the shooting. I have no doubt that, if the entire footage was shown, the police would have been heard announcing themselves repeatedly. The first clip is clipped to the point that it doesn't tell the entire story.
@CaitiffFTW It's the middle of the freaking night!!! You're telling me that if you're in a deep sleep, and you awaken to the sound of your front door being busted in, that you're going to be even able to tell what these guys are screaming as they rush in with guns? I'd be reaching for some sort of weapon to defend myself, too. And I'd be dead.
@bigchiefbc If one person came in, yes, I would protect myself. If 6 came in, shouting things like "Police!" and "Search Warrant!" I do what they say.
@CaitiffFTW He didn't even get the chance to comply. The second the guy enters the screen from the right with the golf club, you can already hear shots firing.
@bigchiefbc How do you know that there was no announcement made before the point at which this video was shown? You don't. Why? Because it was clipped to begin immediately before the shooting. Key things are missing from that video, such as EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED BEFOREHAND! Why is this difficult for people to understand?
@bigchiefbc So, it went down EXACTLY as I thought it did. In fact, the armed meth addict came out with the weapon AFTER hearing the police announce themselves. Damn right, I support the cops on that one.
@Nexus974 Well, if 6 people come into my house wanting to kill me, I'm very likely dead. Why die tired? If they're thieves, I can replace stuff. If they're police, I have nothing to fear, since I won't pose a threat. Oh wait.I'm not a criminal, and I don't live in a suspected meth lab!
So, yes, the combination of "suspected meth lab,""armed meth addict," and "won't listen to commands" IS a viable threat.
This isn't their job, if they were concerned with danger they should pck some other proffession, armed thug for the state isn't a safe career choice.
It is THEIR JOB to LAY DOWN THEIR LIVES, in defense of the citizens. Meth addicts and homeless people are citizens too, a small knife is virtually no threat to a cop in body armour. He had a taser, the swat team should be half tazers half guns, shooting some guy who had a golf club is a joke, what pussies.
@CaitiffFTW This isn't baseball. This isn't a game. Many innocent civilians get essentially murdered by overzealous law enforcement and the overuse of SWAT in botched raids more often than you care to admit. Many of these paramilitary type raids are constitutionally questionable from the get go. Many of the cases are covered up, but some make the national news.
@CaitiffFTW Tarika Wilson: In January 2008 the Lima, Ohio, SWAT team burst into the home of Tarika Wilson, her one year old son, and her boyfriend, and immediately opened fire. Wilson was killed and her son's finger shot off. The SWAT team also killed one, and even one of the family dogs.
@CaitiffFTW Cheye Calvo: A SWAT team raided the home of Cheye Calvo, mayor of Berwyn Heights, Maryland, and his wife Trinity Tomsic, after delivering an intercepted box containing 32 pounds of marijuana to the house and observing Calvo bringing it inside on returning home. Police, who were unaware of who lived in the house, shot and killed Calvo and Tomsic' two dogs, and handcuffed Calvo and his mother-in-law while searching the property.
@CaitiffFTW The Calvos were cleared after it was determined that the family did not have any knowledge of the contents of the package, which a UPS deliveryperson intended to intercept before their return home.
@Everett07630 Congratulations. You came up with one case of corruption, one case of speculation, and one case of a reasonable good faith mistake by police. And, without knowing whether or not the dogs had attacked police first, I won't even be mad at the cops for that one in the Calvo residence. Especially since they caught the actual bad guy.
@CaitiffFTW There's no such thing as a "reasonable good faith mistake by police", it's called incompetence, overzealousness and poor planning. Many of these raids rely on the information of questionable informants / prior felons who are looking to shave time off of their criminal charges - not creditable sources. Secondly, the judges need to do a better job of scrutinizing the "probable cause" for issuing a search warrant. Of course, the Patriot Act did an end-around the 4th and 14th amendments.
@Everett07630 There was a warrant issued in the Calvo case. That means a judge signed off on it. That means that it was presented to a judge. That means that a DA found enough cause to present it to the judge..... Or, do you just never pay any attention to anything except your own conspiracy theories?
Why do they get information from crooks? Because people who don't do meth have no idea where to find meth.
And, the Patriot Act has violated the rights of exactly ZERO American citizens.
@CaitiffFTW I am by no means a "conspiracy nut", nor a hugh fan of the Left-leaning ACLU, but they did do a very good job documenting the 4th and 14th amendment violations that have occurred under the Patriot Act. There has been plenty of evidence of its documented abuses by the govt / law enforcement. Keep running from the truth, but once again Google is your friend. You should learn to use it.
@CaitiffFTW The government no longer has to show evidence that the subjects of search orders are an "agent of a foreign power," a requirement that previously protected Americans against abuse of this authority.
@CaitiffFTW The FBI does not even have to show a reasonable suspicion that the records are related to criminal activity, much less the requirement for "probable cause" that is listed in the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. All the government needs to do is make the broad assertion that the request is related to an ongoing terrorism or foreign intelligence investigation.
@CaitiffFTW Judicial oversight of these new powers is essentially non-existent. The government must only certify to a judge - with no need for evidence or proof - that such a search meets the statute's broad criteria, and the judge does not even have the authority to reject the application.
@CaitiffFTW Surveillance orders can be based in part on a person's First Amendment activities, such as the books they read, the Web sites they visit, or a letter to the editor they have written.
@CaitiffFTW A person or organization forced to turn over records is prohibited from disclosing the search to anyone. As a result of this gag order, the subjects of surveillance never even find out that their personal records have been examined by the government. That undercuts an important check and balance on this power: the ability of individuals to challenge illegitimate searches.
@CaitiffFTW Kathryn Johnston: In November 2006, Atlanta police stormed the home of 92-year-old Kathryn Johnston, stunning her into opening fire as the intruders, who were of unknown nature to her, broke in through her living room window. Police returned fire and killed Ms Johnston, shooting her 39 times.
@CaitiffFTW And let's not forget the Hurricane Katrina gun confiscation case where the New Orleans PD and national guard illegally entered peoples homes w/out warrants confiscating firearms from lawful people defending their property from looters. The NRA had filed a federal lawsuit at the time, and did a documentary video about the Katrina case. Most of those people still have not gotten back their firearms from the New Orleans PD.
The fucking cops are a legal mafia, they can steal, kill and rape and their buddies will turn a blind eye or lie and cover up for them. We really live under martial law and don't realize it.
Except now they charge you with "illegal wire taping" if you record their wrong doings, civil liberty violations, and criminality. Since there's no expectation of privacy in public places, and they record / violate the public's 4th amendment rights daily, clearly there shouldn't be this double standard when it comes to recording the police. After all, they are public service employees held accountable and paid by we the taxpayers. Govt transparency is important in preserving our rights.

The US Constitution no longer applies when a subject's behavior requires forceful intervention.
Physical or verbal resistance to any enforcement measure used against you will result in harmful repercussions prior to your arrest and imprisonment.
Failure to comply, nullifies the rights of the perp and allows any means of physical force, even at risk of death, to be used against you.
It's not a matter of innocence, you either obey or you'll be sorry, we will teach you a lesson you'll never forget.

@anavrintobin In America they deal with guns. Lots of guns. Why would you want to disarm them you moron?
theonlydann 7 months ago
@theonlydann The last thing i'm suggesting is that American police should be disarmed. Much like the Middle East and Africa, America is saturated with weapons so disarming the police wouldnt make anyone safer. Admittably my original comment was a bit 'troll like'. The point I was trying to make is that some police in the US bring out their guns for situations that simply do not warrent it. There are plenty of techniques to bring someone down without giving in to an itchy trigger finger.

Kinda funny how they switched potions with the Tacoma police. They have gotten better. They use to be very corrupt but with a lot media and public eyes on them they had to clean up. Hope it happen in Seattle.

Brajabu74 11 months ago
In the Utah case where the guy was obviously surprised by armed men bursting in the house unquestionably with full force and drama; why would these law enforcers think to shoot him dead when they are the strangers in dark clothing and armed and ready to kill. A baseball bat doesn't shoot bullets at lightning speed; couldn't they just take cover and scream that they are the police or DEA or something or shoot the guy in the leg instead? What words did they say to the mother of the dead man?

The cop in the Seattle case, Ian Birk, wasn't really cleared of any wrongdoing. The prosecutor simply didn't want to bring charges against him. The police dept declared that Birk acted contrary to procedure and training and allowed him to resign rather than fire him, which they certainly would have done. I can't imagine why an officer would simply shoot to kill a person who refused an order. What if the man happened to be deaf or mentally deficient? That can't just be bad training.
jaybone23 11 months ago
amazing... the swat team didn't even give a verbal warning they just shot him automatically. and not even trying to taze the homeless guy just saying put down the knife and fired multiple times. what a waste of life, and to think that some cops dont want people to be able to video tape them... fucking ridiculous.

omgawesome 11 months ago
@omgawesome They don't yell "police" and knock on the door for a bonus on their paychecks...it means get the fuck down to the ground, not be hero with a golf club and bust out of a bathroom. It was a sad incident but maybe they should have sent the guy a postcard a few weeks ahead of time so he would have known they were coming then
Ruinous 11 months ago
@Ruinous The invasion of the man's home is an abhorrent abuse in itself but that's so common and it's seen as acceptable behavior for "law enforcers." Killing a man attempting to protect himself is apparently ok for the cops as well. The police don't value human life. If they did they wouldn't create situations where they scare the shit out of people then have to shoot them if they react in any way other than cowering in the floor.
ntheory 11 months ago
@Ruinous The fact that stories like that are pointed to as "abuse" regardless, as well as others often omitting greater context of the incident, should make you question the entire narrative. Reason's an agenda-pusher like any other political group. Sometimes they make good, truly reasoned points. Other times, you have to question their intellectual honesty. Just what kind of organization would "err" on the side of anti-police? Their semi-"anarchist"/"liberaltarianism" tendencies are too strong.
canofsand 11 months ago
the second incident is a clear example of why an armed citizenry is extremely important. if I had been in the woman passing by's position I would would have shot the cop as soon as he had drawn his weapon in order to prevent what is clearly a case of assault.

CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW These aren't box scores. From the description (which also links to all three of the videos) "three most-shocking videos of police abuse that have come to light so far in 2011." AshillaBeige 11 months ago
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW
Why are you trying to explain that away?
myusernameisluc 11 months ago
@myusernameisluc It's not "breaking in" if they have a warrant. You see, a warrant means that a judge believed that there was sufficiant probable cause to allow the police to go into the residence.
What happened off camera before the officer ordered him to drop the knife? No. Seriously, I want to know. You can't see it, because the camera is in the wrong direction. You can't hear it, because the guy won't shut up, and let the audio speak for itself. What happened?
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW
The man was shot dead after the officer harassed him for no reason.
myusernameisluc 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW What it "boils down to" is you attempt to rationalize and excuse civil liberty abuses, mistakes, cover-ups, and bad cops - your a protectionist of govt corruption. This is only one small video touching upon the subject, once again a Google search is your friend.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@Everett07630 You don't know a damn thing about me. Have I claimed that the police has a perfect moral code? Of course, I haven't. What I have claimed, and no-one has disputed, is that the good FAR outweighs the bad. And, guess what. That's the basic rule for the rest of humanity, as well.
Man... Libertarians sound more and more like Democrats whenever someone disagrees with them. You're not saying that I'm wrong. You're accusing me of being part of a vast conspiracy to hide a vague truth.
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW All Libertarians need to know about you is plainly displayed in your comments. Of course, you're entitled to your misplaced opinions and pro big government statism. It means you make excuses for overzealous govt authorities violating civil liberties and in some cases murdering people. Police abuse is a legitimate problem and the solution is to reform the system, not burry one's head in the proverbial sand pretending it doesn't exist.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@Everett07630 There's so much bullshit in your last comment that I have no idea where to begin. But, that's typical Liberalism, inherent in your comments. You have responded to that, at every turn, with insults. I pity you, and your inability to see good in people. You're no longer worthy of my time.

VegasBilgeRat 11 months ago
@VegasBilgeRat "Search warrant! Search warrant!" He had more than 2 seconds to respond. Not only that, but the video that was shown here only shows what happened 2 seconds before the shooting. I have no doubt that, if the entire footage was shown, the police would have been heard announcing themselves repeatedly. The first clip is clipped to the point that it doesn't tell the entire story.
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW It's the middle of the freaking night!!! You're telling me that if you're in a deep sleep, and you awaken to the sound of your front door being busted in, that you're going to be even able to tell what these guys are screaming as they rush in with guns? I'd be reaching for some sort of weapon to defend myself, too. And I'd be dead.

bigchiefbc 11 months ago
@bigchiefbc How do you know that there was no announcement made before the point at which this video was shown? You don't. Why? Because it was clipped to begin immediately before the shooting. Key things are missing from that video, such as EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED BEFOREHAND! Why is this difficult for people to understand?
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW Here is the full video. Judge for yourself: watch?v=WV6Bq8xeQrU
bigchiefbc 11 months ago
@bigchiefbc So, it went down EXACTLY as I thought it did. In fact, the armed meth addict came out with the weapon AFTER hearing the police announce themselves. Damn right, I support the cops on that one.

@CaitiffFTW Let's all hope your never the victim of a home invasion by anyone clever enough to shout 'police' or 'search warrant'.
Nexus974 11 months ago
@Nexus974 Well, if 6 people come into my house wanting to kill me, I'm very likely dead. Why die tired? If they're thieves, I can replace stuff. If they're police, I have nothing to fear, since I won't pose a threat. Oh wait.I'm not a criminal, and I don't live in a suspected meth lab!
So, yes, the combination of "suspected meth lab,""armed meth addict," and "won't listen to commands" IS a viable threat.
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@Vegas "in order to save their lives."
Hashishin13 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW This isn't baseball. This isn't a game. Many innocent civilians get essentially murdered by overzealous law enforcement and the overuse of SWAT in botched raids more often than you care to admit. Many of these paramilitary type raids are constitutionally questionable from the get go. Many of the cases are covered up, but some make the national news.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW Tarika Wilson: In January 2008 the Lima, Ohio, SWAT team burst into the home of Tarika Wilson, her one year old son, and her boyfriend, and immediately opened fire. Wilson was killed and her son's finger shot off. The SWAT team also killed one, and even one of the family dogs.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW Cheye Calvo: A SWAT team raided the home of Cheye Calvo, mayor of Berwyn Heights, Maryland, and his wife Trinity Tomsic, after delivering an intercepted box containing 32 pounds of marijuana to the house and observing Calvo bringing it inside on returning home. Police, who were unaware of who lived in the house, shot and killed Calvo and Tomsic' two dogs, and handcuffed Calvo and his mother-in-law while searching the property.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW The Calvos were cleared after it was determined that the family did not have any knowledge of the contents of the package, which a UPS deliveryperson intended to intercept before their return home.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@Everett07630 Congratulations. You came up with one case of corruption, one case of speculation, and one case of a reasonable good faith mistake by police. Everett07630 11 months ago
Everett07630 11 months ago
@Everett07630 There was a warrant issued in the Calvo case. That means a judge signed off on it. That means that it was presented to a judge. That means that a DA found enough cause to present it to the judge..... Or, do you just never pay any attention to anything except your own conspiracy theories?
Why do they get information from crooks? Because people who don't do meth have no idea where to find meth.
And, the Patriot Act has violated the rights of exactly ZERO American citizens.
CaitiffFTW 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW I am by no means a "conspiracy nut", nor a hugh fan of the Left-leaning ACLU, but they did do a very good job documenting the 4th and 14th amendment violations that have occurred under the Patriot Act. There has been plenty of evidence of its documented abuses by the govt / law enforcement. Keep running from the truth, but once again Google is your friend. You should learn to use it.
Everett07630 11 months ago
@CaitiffFTW The government no longer has to show evidence that the subjects of search orders are an "agent of a foreign power," a requirement that previously protected Americans against abuse of this authority.
Everett07630 11 months ago
