  • I have this album, haven't played it in decades, but seeing it on your video felt like I'd just visited an old friend after a long, long time. Alas, mine has been played so often it is pretty worn down.

  • This has an interesting "guitar solo" from the Stereo... I don't remember this on the Stereo mix. Nice surprise!

  • wow...10 cents, and copies on Amazon cost around $20, and British copies on Amazon cost around $50

  • my older sister bought all those albums in mono up to Revolver. Revolver really differs from the stereo mix.

  • Welcome Back Spencer

  • I've bought several old Beatles albums (in glorious mono) at garage sales and thrift stores from 25 cents to a dollar over the years so you beat me there.

Did Capitol use EMI's mono mixes or just folded down the stereo mix for this album?

  • @wildbilltexas Capitol did use the dedicated mono mixes that EMI sent them from England. But they often applied more compression and other processing to them before pressing the records.

  • @blackwaxjh Thanks. I have the Capitol Versions Vol 1 box set and wasn't sure. I used to have a 70's era copy of this album and it was super-compressed.

  • @wildbilltexas You're most welcome! :) I also have the Capitol Versions CD box set and an original mono copy of the "Something New" album and they sound almost identical. Ted Jensen who remastered the box set actually did a great job making those less than great sounding tapes sound pretty good.

  • 10 cents even surprised me, but I contained my excitement till the deal was done!

The Beatles mono mixes were indeed dedicated and supervised by George Martin. They were not simple "fold downs" of a stereo mix. That is why the remastered CD set is available in both mono and stereo versions. More effort was spent on the mono mix as that is what got played on mono AM radio of the time. No stereo FM radio stations existed at this time that played Beatles music, so youth only heard the mono version.

  • A Great song from the UK A Hard Days Nights album and Something New US Album. Keep up the great work.

  • Hey welcome back! :)

  • i just wonder how many songs could be on vinyl cause i kinda really want a Gramophone but probably digital so i will buy some vinyls

  • @WABCRADIO77 Hey, long time no see!!! XD It's great that you've just posted some new songs, after quite a while... Great 10-cent score, by the way!!

  • Thank you! It's great to be back!

  • Awesome song! You should upload more of their 45s! The ones with the different mixes! :)

  • their album cuts are so great, like this one, impossible to put it all out as singles.

  • Love this stuff!

  • I love this song. I also have this LP in mono as you do. I wish it was played more on the radio. It is a catchy tune and the echoed drum hits make it all the better.

  • Was never a top 40 single but still gets a lot of airplay nearly 50 years later.
