Honestly, I believe that Itachi is a hero. He destroyed the Uchiha clan to avoid war between his village and his family, but he couldn't kill Sasuke because of his love for him. He chose to be a rogue ninja and have a false reputation just to save Konoha. Even in his death, he cared for Sasuke and the village. He never really wanted to kill all those people.

But Sasuke kills for power, revenge, and hatred. He always disappoints me :(

Yeah I agree... unlike some of the other shonen anime like Fairy Tail, Code Geass, FMA, Bleach, ALL the males in Naruto are consistently more powerful than ALL the females (eg, Sasuke, Naruto > Sakura, Oro > Tsunade, Gaara > Temari, Kakashi > Rin, Nagato > Konan from a power/ability standpoint) Also, the female characters seem stereotyped into medics, even more so than usual (c'mon there can't be male healers?). It's too bad, since the male chars in Naruto are awesome ^^.
