Actually, Isaac Newton had only discovered five colors: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. He added Orange and Indigo to make it match with other lists of 7 (days of the week, musical notes, etc.).

But here's another kicker. His blue was a light blue. His indigo was a dark blue. Most people can't see today's Indigo as separate from Violet, hence the discussion on taking it out.

I teach this song to my elementary school students in Korea. They like it. They learn English and Sign Language at the same time.
