When seeing non-martial-artists fighting in a movie i always have the impression, that in order to "enhance" their non-existent skills, cuts and other tricks are used in an overwhelming number. @UCHIHAmadara40 He is an extremely popular japanese singer. He has taken part in a few movies, tv series and wrote and directed a movie himself. He's also the model for the a Bujingai and Final Fantasy character. His music is really good if you don't mind the language barrier.
This is a result of a wrong explanation of Japanese culture. Bunraku is originally a traditional theatrics using Japanese Joruri dolls. It has been played in accordance with a traditional style for neatly 500years. I have no idea why that people who made this movie wanted to use the name of Bunraku, but its still disappointing me. No interest on this fu*king kind of movie. sorry for my poor English (´・ω・｀)

@Numb0084 Because the movie is a story and the actors are the puppets. The pop up story the bartender shows Yoshi was an allusion to the world that they live in. Really the first 5 minutes or so where it is just a puppet show, and the sets made to look like a puppet theater, and the surreal and incredibly artificial lighting was also supposed to hint at this being a fake world. Your english however is very good. :-)
@Numb0084 Did you ever think that it might be a different interpretation than what your are thinking? For example if you titled a movie 'Candy' it does not mean it's all about candy. It could be a movie about a slice of life, what make life sweet and sour or even bitter. A characteristic of a candy interpreted in life. I could say the same for Bunraku instead of using dolls and tradition they used real life actor to tell there tale.
@Numb0084 I'm afraid you are partly wrong; this film is basically a live-action adaptation of a Bunraku, and i know this because i was born and raised in Japan and learned a lot about the Japanese past and present. Bunraku isn't portrayed perfectly in the movie (obviously) but is a new version on showing it to the world, just with real people and not puppet paper or Joruri dolls. Yes, paper puppets are used in some of the main Bunraku shows
I know it's very cliché, and it didn't bring anything new, and the critique pretty much killed it with bad reviews, but at the end of it all, I liked it. It's a mix of Kill Bill, Sin City, and maybe a bit of Mortal Kombat too because of the journey all the way to the bad guy. I wouldn't probably buy it, but definitely watch it if you see it coming up on TV.

I don't understand how it is they manage to prevent the creation of guns and explosives. It's really not that hard and obviously they have the materials needed. They also apparently have ranged weapons (near the end the Jap uses a bow), so why don't the utilize them more? It's pretty silly. They could have also utilized slings, javalins, etc.

Even if I did come here just for Gackt, (whether you like him/know him or not doesn't matter much to me) this actually looks really interestingly surreal. I definitely wouldn't call Gackt a God... that's so fucking extreme. He makes pretty music and looks pretty doing it and its all coated with a thick layer of raw, real emotion and dedication. And that's what makes him brilliant in my eyes.

I dont get it. Is this supposed to be a comedy, action or fantasy? (ignoring the fact that its possible to be all the 3 at the same time). First i see gangsters, then samurais, then friggin Gandalf the Thug ("-Kill them all" he said).

i just finishd waching this movie. it turnd out so well. i love it.
spaghetti western + martial arts + comic book.
i enjoyed the references to bunraku.
awesome. funny. great drama. super great fight scenes.
i am a huge gackt fan, but i couldnt say any one of them was the best. every character did so freaking amazing in their role.
i have been waiting over 3 years for this, and it has surpassed expectations!

Even if I did come here just for Gackt, (whether you like him/know him or not doesn't matter much to me) this actually looks really interestingly surreal. I definitely wouldn't call Gackt a God... that's so fucking extreme. He makes pretty music and looks pretty doing it and its all coated with a thick layer of raw, real emotion and dedication. And that's what makes him brilliant in my eyes.

I do happen to be a huge fan of Gackt's music and acting/voice acting, but that's not whats making me see the movie, it's just a bonus for me. But I hope people see the movie regardless, it looks great. But yeah, I usually don't read most comments because of how petty they tend to be..
