  • America is what diversity looks like!

  • I'm Indonesian and I'm planning on enlisting in the United States Army, other than a green card, what are the basic requirements on enlisting?

  • @XxGameadickxX The only other thing you might need is primary education; like high school (you don't need college). Don't worry you will get in easily and thanks in advance for serving my and now your country!

  • i live in brition and i hate it here i want to be in the army and be a US citizen. can i join the US army and fight for a US citizen visa?

  • I am so proud to have served with these outstanding Americans. For those who look down on immigrants, shame on you!

  • ok OUTstanding.

  • sir i am filipino and i have been wnting to join the us marine corps for a long time now, s t possible?

  • how do i join when im irish ? come on US and Ireland are close ... we served your country well didnt we ?

  • Wow I did not know they let foreigners fight in the United States military.

  • uhmm they are called immigrants.

  • @PlanetXObserver

The continental army was made up of foreigners, from all the European nations and slaves.

  • wait a second...i dont get it...according to some immigration laws you can NOT become a member of United States Armed Froces / the U.S. military if you'r not a citizen of the U.S.

PLEASE REPLY...i'M REALY CONFUSED RIGHT NOW AND I AM ACTUALY THINKING OF SIGNING UP FOR THE GREEN CARD LOTTERY WHEN I TURN 18...

  • you can join the armed forces if you are a citizen or an immigrant only. These people that theyre showing were immigrants, and because we are at war, the law states that anyone that is serving during at the time of conflict is awarded to be a citizen. Theyre easily given, but the armed forces can take it away from you once you show any dishonorable acts.

  • thatt+ sounds like a hell of a deal...i would love to join the u.s. armed forces...i mean who wouldn't want to be one of the best in the world...

  • so you can get your citizenship taken away after having living in the US for years?

  • So I dont get it, If yo go to the U.S embassy and say you will fight for America in such places like Afganistan, Then they will let you in and fast track you?? Responce please because you seem to konw your stuff

  • But you are painting a very broad stroke with that brush of yours, who thinks that way and how prevelant is it really? I have not seen and comments here that warrant that. I have nothing against lawful aliens working in the US so who are you talking about?

  • I know this will get a bunch of shitty comments, but (as much as I think these guys deserve it) there is something screwed up about a country/group/society that accepts you only after you've participated in violence (been a part of the group's sanctioned violence.) That is essentially what gangs require.

Its crap that we look down on our neighbors, who provide for their families by building our homes & nannying our kids.

But when they join the State's body of power/force, THEN we welcome them.

  • What you failed to mention is you do not have to join the military to become a citizen, its just one way.

  • Oh I know. I wasn't criticizing the naturalization through military service rule, or the military.

I was 'pondering'(?) why some Americans look down on illegal immigrants who contribute to society, pay taxes and provide cheap labor for the economy, and who they trust enough to build their homes and take care of their kids, but don't consider that enough to warrant citizenship -- that is unless they go beyond most Americans, and participate in State 'violence' on their behalf.

  • Boy,you are talking out of your butt. Do a research first before you talk, that way you wont sound stupid. These men and women are immigrants not ILLEGAL immigrants. Illegal immigrants cannot join any branch of the armed forces.

  • Re-read my comment. I was saying that people look down on illegal immigrants, but still trust them to raise their kids & build their homes. They enjoy the rewards (even by extension), but are outraged when the immigrants want the same rights (citizenship.) The excuse they use, is their immigration status.

The point is that regardless of their immigration status, they contribute mightly (its not easy leaving your home to live in poverty so that the family you never see, can live above poverty.)

  • It is ironic that in both instances, we reap the rewards of their sacrifice, but heap praise on one, and scorn the other.

That's just speaking of individual people. There is also some hypocrisy in govt policy that gives qualified immigrants immediate access to the naturalization path, because their service is military. If you want to be a nanny or a homebuilder, prepare to wait years for a visa/green card, and maybe a decade for citizenship, if at all. Military? zip in & collect quickly.

  • It was a little confusing the way I specifically mentioned illegals later, but the point was that both groups of immigrants (workers & military) contribute & sacrifice, but we disproportionately reward people who serve the state.

  • @crock703

I don't know if you are in the military or not, frankly it seems your not for you speak of things you know nothing of. As a member of the armed forces this I know, the main reason why our military personnel get faster naturalization is due to the fact of the many overseas bases there is. Due to this, to keep in compliance with other nations we cross we must all hold a citizenship with in the armed forces, instead of trolling around with stamped visas.

  • understood and point taken. As for me I am proud to serve in the United States Army and earn my right as a US citizen

Im with you against these people who look down on immigrants,be it illegal or not. I know their sacrifices coz ive "been there, done that"and Im one of them.

  • Understand and point taken. You really did mixed up the idea back in your other statements.

As for me I am proud to be in service. Nothing makes me proud to earn my citizenship through the Armed forces.

Im with you against this people who look down on immigrants be it illegal or not. I know how much sacrifices they made. They deserve a chance to be here as much as the pilgrims.

  • Nex stop, Irak

  • also I think once ure in us military , u cant go back to ure original country bcuz it will be too dangerous for u.

  • So...people can serve in the U.S. military without being citizens? I don't get it...did they come here on a tourist visa and then get drafted?

  • no you have to obtain form I-551 or so called green card n getting one isnt a walk in the park.

  • We don't have a draft. They volunteered. All you have to do is be a resident alien, or have a green card.

  • In any other country of the world can you imagine non-citizens volunteering to fight in a war? Only in America...the benefits of being in the service must be really good.

  • Its not only that but they get fast tracked to becoming citizens this way.

  • @bringonthelovin "get drafted" USA doesn't have a draft
