@mropinionful You're assuming south korea can't defend themselves. The U.S. isn't the only country in the world with armed forces. The north may try but it would be a suicide mission from the overwhelming response of the south's allies. China would also be real hesitant to back the north because of how much money they're making off the west with trade. The north currently has a larger standing army, but the south's navy and air force would win eventually.
If we slowly withdraw, south korea will beef their own forces up. They have the economy and resources to do this. They have better equipment, better training, and I believe something like twice the able bodied population that could join up. I like the story of giving a man a fish or teaching a man to fish from the bible. We supply the defense and they grow dependent on it. Teach them to defend themselves, and they become independent. And we could save American lives, and money.

The north may try but it would be a suicide mission from the overwhelming response of the south's allies. China would also be real hesitant to back the north because of how much money they're making off the west with trade. The north currently has a larger standing army, but the south's navy and air force would win eventually.

If we slowly withdraw, south korea will beef their own forces up. They have the economy and resources to do this. They have better equipment, better training, and I believe something like twice the able bodied population that could join up. I like the story of giving a man a fish or teaching a man to fish from the bible. We supply the defense and they grow dependent on it. Teach them to defend themselves, and they become independent. And we could save American lives, and money.
