two camels are swimming across a lake and one is green and the other is going left. how much does the sun weigh if the hegdehog is twenty five years old?
Oh... i'm sorry i thought we were doing stupid things here.
Dove self esteem project is a great thing but did you know that Dove and Axe are owned by the same company? You know Axe, with the degrading shampoo commercials towards women? Just something to think about
When you think about it, the ideas of supermodels and them improving outer beauty is highly ironic: They try to look the best, and as good as they can. But they end up looking uncharacteristic and plastic. So it's really just worse. It's not about "hotness". It's instead about love, intelligence, responsibility, humor, etc.
funny.........until that last little comment. if you can edit the video so it doesnt show the rude thing about so-called ugly people then it can be all the way funny.
EVERYONE READ PLEASE: 'Dove' is owned by the company 'Unilever'. Unilever also owns the companies 'Axe', a company which I can say sorta degrades women, and 'Fair and Lovely', a company which markets mainly in Asia, which sells 'skin whitening' creams. The Fair and Lovely commercials give the complete idea that no woman can be successful or beautiful without being pale.
They don't care about whether women feel good about themselves. They care about making money.
Girls... To look date able? People who lived before the time of make-up and Photoshop didn't get dates? or have kids? Sorry if that's offensive. Hiding under your make-up doesn't solve your problem. In fact, it does the opposite-- all that chemical. A bit of make up is fine because society has a twisted concept of women having perfect skin and what not. Also, stop dating shallow men who only like you when you have 1 cm of make-up on you.
I'm a girl and I think this is hilarious. IMHO the target of this parody is not female insecurities, but the belief that "almighty Photoshop can do anything", as conveyed in the original ad. Basically, it's saying "Girls don't be discouraged by the perfect look of models in ads, in reality they're all ugly!" Just my thought.)
@SaintsWillMarch Because this is a extremely hurtful theme in a womans life. And when this video is making fun of it in a way like this, it might be hurtful and some woman could have found it embarrassing... People, worldwide, are suffering from anorexia.. and 80 % of all woman today do not like the picture of themselves in the mirror... they hate the person they are! So please, Im begging you. Show some respect. People are starving themselves to death, because they want to become someone else..
- "and 80 % of all woman today do not like the picture of themselves in the mirror... "
That is impossible knowledge.
Your point is in itself valid; trans-natural beauty ideals are potentially harmful, to those who cannot configure their bodies accordingly, in a safe and healthy manner.
Your gynocentrism, however, reduces it to sexism, as boys and men too are touched by the hand of The Ideal.
I'm not against this parody of Dove, but there's much more controversy on this page than on the original Dove Evolution. I just want to remind people that the original was an attempt to prevent girls from going to the extremes (e.g. anorexia) to mirror women in commercial media. I wish they would also do a movie on how much airbrushing men get in the same media. I agree both sexes fight stereotypes, but through a history of sexism women are targeted more viscously. Film: "Killing Us Softly #5."
@MEVelpe I also want to point out there is a difference between anyone (male or female) trying to look attractive, and trying to portray the people we see in the media. It's the latter situation that is unhealthy.
Duh, girls are always like, "Don't you dare compare me to a Barbie doll!" But guys are compared to G.I. Joe, who's biceps now are bigger than his head. Girls get anorexic, and guys take sterroids. So don't blame all guys for your crap.
@ijjbaa Bullshit dude, guys are not compared to G.I. Joe. Why don't people think before they talk, the world would be a better place. Simple example, television, i'm not even going to explain it for you, just think about it. Use that brain, you can do it, really.
@ijjbaa Realistically, as I girl I would definately not want to date a guy on steroids. I don't really want a man who looks like G.I Joe. I want a man who is caring.
While I think guys are more shallow then girls in general, I don't think they want a girl who has an eating disorder.
The media tells us we have to look a certain way, but in reality most people love their partner for who they are.
This isn't damaging anyone's self-esteem at all. =_=
All he did was put on a wig and lipstick and then switched to Zac Efron (lol). It would be insulting if he took some random girl's picture and made it different. Gosh this isn't a big deal and I can't even go out in public without makeup!!!
I'm a girl and I think this is pretty funny. If other girls are so sensitive, then why would they be watching a video like this? I mean really. It's just a joke people, so take an Advil, put in your tampon, and grow a sense of humor.
boys dont understand? ha... thats typical one sided thinking. Guys/boys have it just as bad.... be muscular, be thin, etc.... it goes both ways.... its not just the girls self esteem.... trust me..
At first, I didn't really mind the video until the last 15 seconds. I'm surprised that some of you think that this is ok. It must be nice to limit yourselves to your own narrow-minded perspectives and not consider how certain things can (seriously) upset other people.
Self esteem is also low in males in this day and age, not just females. Teens are getting more and more concerned about health and looks the that it is making them miserable. And unhealthy - A teenage girl the other day told her friend not to eat more then 2 pieces of fruit in a day because fruit contains sugar and she feared this sugar would make her fat. There is a different between natural sugars found in fruit and that found in chocolate. Where are we going wrong...?
clearly what they've done here is just used an invisibility mask over a pre-existing photo.. this is not extreme manipulation at all... this would have been a lot more impressive if it had actually involved some photoshopping skill at all. rather than just obviously slowly deleting one photograph to reveal another (which is not what they do in the original..)
@fromthenightbefore To be honest, would you have wasted time and effort doing that for a small parody like this? Remember the original people were paid to make their video, I doubt this has made any money - They obviously made it for fun.
You know what? You faggots that made this video are friggin bastards who deserve to die. Do you realize that girls actually feel this way? Its not a cheesy ad you see on tv, its real life for some people. So go get a life somewhere off youtube selling fries.
@TheAnnieCandy Oh my god, calm yourself! The video is satirical and should be treated as such. The intention wasn't to mock girls, they're using the idea of the original video to show how much the media changes our perceptions (ie asian being completely photoshopped into Zack Efron). The intent is to be FUNNY. I think you being homophobic by throwing around the word "faggot" and saying someone DESERVES death is far, far worse. Seek professional treatment if this video pisses you off that much.
@blanchepapier@numba1balla kk i know :( sorry just pms'ing. It just kinda made me mad because i was in health class and we were talking about self esteem and stuff and i guess i just got riled up. So im sorry. And yes, i AM an angsty teenager. so yeah. Im soooo sorry. And ill admit, the video WAS a little funny. I feel really bad and it haunted me for months.
Insecure girls should get the hell over it. you have BOOBS, it doesnt matter what you look like, men will only really stare at your tits... if ur flat chested... i hope you are rich.
@craigbrian I'm a girl and I'm not offended because I understand the intention of the video is to be funny (asian guy's face being completely shopped into Zac Efron's), not to mock a girl's insecurity. Honestly, you're being very sensitive and taking this way too seriously. I don't even understand where you're getting this "big insult to girls" thing; your understanding of this video is completely distorted, it's supposed to show how fake people that girls compare themselves really are.
Right because when you walk on a bus and see the ugliest person you've ever seen, you think about their great personality. You need to stop sugar coating the truth
Boys and men considered unattractive have no problems getting dates and beyond? Women judge men by their shoes. Not all of them, of course, but enough to make it a known pattern and indicative of a larger social issue.
When girls and women stop comparing us to fictional characters / fantasies from their TV-shows and romantic comedies, I may start giving a damn about their insecurities and the "expectations" they project on men who, in reality, never even noticed the "flaws".
@craigbrian get over yourself - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Women are insecure about themselves, so are men? Deal, with, It. This is a big insult to girls, so? I mean, a normal asian boy turning into Ms Justin Beebs should be an insult to all women and men alike, too much make up for men (idk what man would use makeup) can make them look like a little girl, and for women too little can make them look like man.
@craigbrian - Dude, shut up. You're being too sensitive. I mean, sure, self-esteem is a huge problem in girls today but that doesn't mean we should be an over the top politically correct society that's never allowed to poke fun at anything. Calm down.
@craigbrian i don't see where tis is an insult to girls... it's just a funny parody to an other video. HOW is a guy being at a photoshooting and being "photoshopped" into an other guy a "big insult" to girls? this video never said something like "girls, you are ugly, please don't cross my way w/o make up" or something.
and also:
statistics:
women 13-17
women 18-24
(...and men 45-54, probably finding this funny)
if it is a "big insult" to girls then girls should stop watching.
@core36 The original is just showing the world that the standard of beauty is impossibly high and impossible to achieve. Earlier, I was just saying that girls wouldn't know this video is insulting if they hadn't watched it. It's a flawed argument unless they know ahead of time what the video is about. Personally, this video is reminiscent of the video it's parodying and I think it's a good one.
@babymariemerchant hm well i don't know what exactly you wan't to tell me (probably because i'm drunk right now) but i think you mistake me as a girl... no i'm a guy. and i also think that there are so much girls out there who think they are ugly with out make up even if thats not the case. one of my classmates sayd "shit i had no time to use makeup. i must look really ugly right now". i was like"wtf? yr fine!" and then she started to hit me :/
Why poke fun at such a wonderful, inspiring and realistic campaign? The original video has such a wonderful message. I get it's "humorous" but I think when parodies, such as this, are made it takes the importance and attention away from the message/concept.
dove talks about how beauty is on the inside but the true facts are that the same main company who owns dove also owns axe who talks about outside looks and have completely different adds, it all just seems to be a huge marketing campaign.
I don't like your "parody". Everyone is beautiful on the inside, and Dove's campaign should not be mocked. The media has made what beauty really is... distorted.
Unilever owns both Dove and AXE. So excuse me if I find this dove "true beauty" or "Evolution" campaign BEYOND hypocritical. GREAT message, but when you delve into who the source of the message is from, it only further perpetuates the pathetic nature of companies marketing. They don't really care about true beauty, unless that true beauty is green w dead presidents on it.

@craigbrian
SaintsWillMarch 3 months ago
@craigbrian get over yourself - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Women are insecure about themselves, so are men? Deal, with, It. This is a big insult to girls, so? I mean, a normal asian boy turning into Ms Justin Beebs should be an insult to all women and men alike, too much make up for men (idk what man would use makeup) can make them look like a little girl, and for women too little can make them look like man.
This is an epic parody.
MisterSandman009 3 months ago
@craigbrian - Dude, shut up. You're being too sensitive. I mean, sure, self-esteem is a huge problem in girls today but that doesn't mean we should be an over the top politically correct society that's never allowed to poke fun at anything. Calm down.
FreedomForOrcas 2 months ago
@craigbrian i don't see where tis is an insult to girls... it's just a funny parody to an other video. HOW is a guy being at a photoshooting and being "photoshopped" into an other guy a "big insult" to girls? this video never said something like "girls, you are ugly, please don't cross my way w/o make up" or something.
and also:
statistics:
women 13-17
women 18-24
(...and men 45-54, probably finding this funny)
if it is a "big insult" to girls then girls should stop watching.
... :D

@core36 Problem is, you don't know what's offensive unless you watch it first.
babymariemerchant 2 months ago
@babymariemerchant i watched the original, the parody and some other parodies and WTF is offensive in that? please tell me
core36 2 months ago
@core36 The original is just showing the world that the standard of beauty is impossibly high and impossible to achieve. Earlier, I was just saying that girls wouldn't know this video is insulting if they hadn't watched it. It's a flawed argument unless they know ahead of time what the video is about. Personally, this video is reminiscent of the video it's parodying and I think it's a good one.
babymariemerchant 2 months ago
@babymariemerchant hm well i don't know what exactly you wan't to tell me (probably because i'm drunk right now) but i think you mistake me as a girl... no i'm a guy. and i also think that there are so much girls out there who think they are ugly with out make up even if thats not the case. one of my classmates sayd "shit i had no time to use makeup. i must look really ugly right now". i was like"wtf? yr fine!" and then she started to hit me :/
not easy to tell a girl that she looks good...

@core36 Yeah you must be drunk because I never indicated you are a girl. Lay off the juice dude.

Thumbs up people.
