  • Australian sopranos?...What talent?....the list is endless...Hammond, Sutherland, Melba,Bronhill..etc....and Welsh tenors?....a great combination of both singing this most beautiful of Irish songs, "The Last Rose of Summer"...used by Flotow in his opera "Martha", first performed Vienna 1847.

  • I remember her from those wonderful English recordings in the 60's. Delightfull and beautiful.

  • Rowland Jones was British and a fine Welsh Tenor. Miss Bronhill is of course absolutely wonderful

  • If I left this earth hearing this, it would be a blissfull way to die. Can anyone today sing like this? I wonder how many young people would appreciate it. It is an era that has probably died out. It's sad, but on the other hand, who knows, maybe this will all be still online in 100 years! Lets hope! Thanks for the post.

  • @iskenderuna I for one totally love and very much appreciate June Bronhill, her wonderful voice and fabulous versatility. I am 21 years old :) I'm also a singer and very much aspire to be like June!! Not sure how many people there are like myself, but there are definitely those older than I who have not ever heard June's heavenly voice! :(

  • The sweetest, beautiful and underated ot the great Autstalian sops,

What a tragedy she was not treated with greater respect.

A person and a voice to be treasure.

  • Hi Steve , I do so enjoy listening to June & also seeing her .

    Moyra

  • Incredibly preserved and beautifully sung. Thank you. 5 stars all the way!

  • Thanks to Ballaratboy for videos of my favourite Australian soprano. Absolutely supersweet voice. She sings the best Vilja I have ever heard. Any chance of Vilja Ballaratboy?

  • Thanks for looking at my film and sound clips. I'll have a look for a Vilja, which might have to be an audio clip. June was the best 'Merry Widow' in my opinion.

  • Lovely. And who is the tenor who joins in at the end?

  • British tenor Rowland Jones.
