Wow... What's the point of trying to tarnish the local University AND the local Marine Discovery Centre? If you people really care about the Central Coast, why would you stoop so low to discredit its only university, and its only marine centre?
I know you are trying to stop the dumping of the HMAS Adelaide, but why resort to ridiculous 'tactics' like this?
Some of your supporters seem to think this is all a big joke...
No Ship Action Group are a bunch of people trying to make themselves feel like they are important. Can't wait to dive it when she's finally sunk after a year of waiting.
Thank you Mike for your work in helping to create awareness of this insanity! I am ashamed to be an Australian sometimes as our environmental practice has gone backwards in exchange for short term greed in comparison to the rest of the world - where we could easily and happily be the leaders!
Great movie Mike, disgraceful how an environmental discovery centre is so against discovering if military refuse that is being dumped in the ocean is toxic or not!
Ex-HMAS Canberra provides a timely insight into the unpredictable nature of warship disposal via sea dumping. The main incentive is financial gain with extraordinarily exaggerated revenue projections. Parks Victoria has placed a safety warning to recreational divers on the ex-HMAS Canberra dive site – just 15 months post-scuttling. Revenue projections need adjusting in light of the likely lifespan of the dive site – and balanced against a huge cleanup bill.
The CEN and Newcastle Uni's continued support for this project is utterly incomprehensible. The State Govt missed 23000 sq mts of lead paint. A large quantity of PCB containing wiring and cabling was hurriedly removed days before the Court hearing. Can the State be trusted to act with integrity and without error? Absolutely not. The CEN is a community environment group – well start acting for your community and look into the environmental concerns that have been raised by your community.
Wonderful film Mike, wish you the best of luck with your campaign and that the powers that be come to their senses in Avoca. Hard to believe the CEN is supposed to be an "environmental" organization if they support dumping waste into the ocean.
Why wasn't this ship tested for PCB's and lead paint despite multiple requests before it was due to be scuttled in March 2010? They have since been proven to be present. Now we have information that a sister ship had PCB's in its paintwork. Isn't it logical and relatively inexpensive to do tests on the paint of the ex-HMAS Adelaide, looking for PCB's? Why is this being refused? Is a positive result too difficult to deal with? Mikes film portrays the inflexible walls that NSAG are up against.
Great film Mike.It is great that you have portrayed us as just ordinary people with grave concerns about what may happen to Avoca Beach if this senseless act goes ahead. It is not too late for the Newcastle Uni to make a stand and support our concerns and insist that further studies and tests need to be done to answer our questions. peter king

Why does John Asquith, Chairman of the Community Environment Network send this rude woman out to do his dirty work? He was definitely inside at the time.
If he honestly believed that dumping an obsolete warship in a pristine ocean was good for the environment he would have come out to defend his actions.
Instead he cowers inside and avoids the scrutiny.
What hope does the Coast's environment have with people like this representing it? Selling their souls for the sake of funding, how sad.
Hysterical. Love the authentic Muriel's Wedding style "Ya Can't Stop Progress" attitude from some of the players including the local mayor, bless. You can't make this stuff up. Nice one Mike Rubbo.

... Time to take a good look at your tactics and what you are actually doing for Avoca and the Central Coast, as right now it is all negative.

Nice film... too bad the camera audio is right-channel only (I'm using headphones). Forgot to mix it down to mono? ;-)
