@atumcronico there is a live cd that was recorded in hamburg not köln. and it is called everytime i hear this melody. its just as good as the köln concert. one of the best albums of the last century. i used to have it but lost it :-(
Now, why is it (and I bet you are a resident of the U.S.) everybody these days takes offerings within a scope of negative? Why? Too much Fox News, or what? Everybody is doing it. It's not a bad thing that I bring up, it is merely a phenomenon of the industry. Keep your shirt on, ifelldown, it's not all that bad.
Never even visited the states, unfortunately. I've not had a single breath of that freedom-filled air, I've heard so much about. I'm very uncultured. In what can only be described as a freak coincidence, I'm also shirtless as I'm typing this (you have no way of verifying this information, so you'll have to take my word for it).
Tom Waits has always been a magnificent liar, in the most charming of ways. Had he been honest, his work would hardly be art, to paraphrase Oscar Wilde.
Does he still smoke? You know Steppenwolf produced his play in Chicago. I was very fortunate to attend. He spent a fair amount of time in certain circles stealing in NYC before he wrote it. To this day I am convinced he appropriated "the lord is a very busy busy man" from my own act. And you'll just have to take my word on that.
@guywalker29 Don't generalize all of us into one group. Just make yourself look like bad and just because we are born on differently named soil, doesn't mean we are any different. We're all human.
@LandoftheShanks Ah, whadayouknow, prissyboots. Just because you were born under My Little Pony's Rainbow doesn't mean you can tell me what to do. Go burn down your kid's houses, you'll feel better and I'll be grateful.
@guywalker29 I probably should have thought before responding as you do generalize massive amounts of people - which should have clued me in right off the bat, that you are none too bright and rude. Enjoy fighting with yourself. This is my last comment.
@LandoftheShanks You listen to Tom Waits and you are concerned with other people getting rude??????? Please, peddle your papers somewhere else, like over to Donnie and Marie's page.
My point is only that Mr. Waits appeared to have a wonderful time in NYC in 1984-85 and I was glad to see him enjoy himself at so many alternative spaces and that it influenced his work in Chicago and then internationally. How's that?
I really liked how he transformed these songs, they really compliment the setting upbeat, jazzy , Thou I do like his down and out sound alot... Christ I just love Tom period.
@dave030492 Probably because non-english speaking countries or the whole of Europe in general appreciate him more than a lot of people here in the US. I love him and will travel my ass to one of those countries to see him because this American Girl LOVES Tom Waits.
AFter the first album or 2, Tom dug into his material and found a whoel new way of approaching it...this, and the other early songs on youtube are the real masterpieces of his early stuff....completely transformed into the hippest, baddest, and most realized....what am I to say...whhhhaaaad am I to saaaayyy.

Thanks a bunch for posting this concert. Any idea if the audio was ever released, or was it just a T.V. spot?

And the list of performers who choose to project images of themselves behind their staged equipment lengthens.

I have been wondering this more and more. Funny thing is I also blame outlets like FoxNews. They are feeding the fire of negativity.
