(An orbital ring is a very large space station that circles the globe, and is held aloft by centripetal forces derived from 'active mass', once in place, think od Saturn's Rings, payload can be hoised by lift into space at low cost. It would look nice with illumination, that would make children ask questions! plenty of advertising revenue as well. This ring could be shot up with ballistic technology.)
