This song is pretty sad feeling, as if you want to get to know Ryu better. I like that. It may be one of the reasons why I picked Ryu as my favorite SF character for a long time now, but I forgot how it sounds until now.

Yeah, in the World Warrior version, he looked kind of dried up. I think that's why they redrew his face in Champion Edition and in Super Street Fighter (Which he looks better in.)
