  • Floor it dude! Pass that fucker

  • @dubbys, are you trying to give me a lesson on the way motorcycles sound? Afraid not little man, I have own and ridden more motorcycles than you can dream about as you lay in your crib. The fact that you are suggesting have sex with me, well I'm not interested at all. Find one of your gay american men, not me!

  • This bike sounds like a leaf-blower. Why does it bog down when you open the throttle? It also sounds like there is no airfilter, and the bike is running lean. I hope you burn your valves!

  • @Tophairybutt Bikes often sound funny on small digital recorders, the SV650 is a V-Twin motorcycle meaning it has a deeper sound than most motorcycles. Also: Fuck You for being a complete tool.

  • @Tophairybutt Correct, there is no airfilter - the bike had 41mm FCR flatslide carburetors w/ velocity stacks. Jetting was done by Factory Pro Tuning in Marin, who also used the bike to develop different products for 1st gen SVs.

  • And most of you seem to forget one detail, on the public highway it isnt down to the outright performance of the machine, its down to the rider, example, Rossi vs Me, me on the R1, him on a CBR400...he will win, unless its a straight line, I know that comparison is ridiculous, but I was using it to make a point, so everyone who says "it'll kill this" "r1..." "sv" I own a 2007 SV650s, and I know a couple of guys with R1's, both will kick my arse because they do alot of track days and I dont

  • SV650S RULE!!!!!!

  • @fashnek

Btw Im not busting your balls. I am just siding with you that being the fastest doesnt matter when youre killing your gas faster than you are in a car. Sadly, I experienced that during my beginner riding days. Now that I have experienced a little more. Id rather just stick to something simple that wont kill me and will get me from point A and point B. Making sure not to make a point C stop at the hospital.

  • @fashnek

You have a point Nowadays its all about who's the fastest I have riden bikes all between 250 to 1400cc. I prefer a bike in the range between a 600 and 750 I like the busa and zx14r but I dont like the heavy body and a 1400cc engine for what? I live in Chicago Theres traffic until 8 pm the weather is unpredictable and at that time cops are out being dicks If that doesnt throw you off then the potholes all over the city will I enjoy the ride Enough to not care what the next guy does.

  • Im going to be honest and pretty much say that all the people who are saying that all R1's will kill any SV's are just pretty much being biast on the fact that its a 650 vs. 1k. But your forgetting this small detail. Theres turns. The R1 is heavier than a 650. So theres an obvious weight difference here that gives the 650 an advantage at the turns. Now if this was a straight away, Id believe that any 1k bike can kill a 650 any day. Also it depends on the rider. Factors add everything up.

  • What ever happened to enjoying riding instead of trying to be half a second faster on streets?

  • in holland we have de sv650cub de bikes are realy fast en have good lap times!!

i have a rgv250 and beat a lot of bigbikes!it doesnt mather how big it is it matters what you can do with it...................

  • Yup, classic example of a well riden small bike making a poorly riden big bike look bad.

    Good show there citybikemike.

  • Wow great riding. I could hear you were short-shifting the SV just because you were catching the guy. Must've been frustrating when the guy would walk you on the straights and then slow you down in the corners. Cool vid.

  • some of you guys write such shit.....get off ur PC and go actually buy a bike....

  • Such rubbish,,, my wife has a SV650s and i have a 99 R1 , i have riden them both and the SV is just not in the same league......

  • @jaspersmells 'Rubbish' is how some fast guys described the 1st gen R1 chassis. There's a reason that teams put that motor in an R7 frame...

  • @jaspersmells thats funny, because I'm clearly watching that SV destroy that R1 as far as turns go. why? because thats what the SV does best, turns.

yeah the R1 can kick its ass in the straits, but the SV demands respect in the turns.

  • The lad on the r1 is obviously not ridding hard enough, so relax with all the sill comments

  • that v-twin is rather impressive, and your skills are too

  • That's no standard Sv650. The R1 should leave it standing except for through the bends maybe.

  • @Rob187ok

It's not that the sv is fast, its just that there's a good rider riding it and the guy on the r1 wasn't even twisting the throttle.

  • @crash86ed, Yeah man,, It looks as if the SV rider knows how to get the best out of that machine. No end of R1 riders just buy R1's because they're the bike to have but very few of them are capable of riding them to their limmits. I enjoy leaving those fast bikes for dead on bendy roads with a smaller bike and it's nice to prove how much fun you can have on a smaller bike when you can screw the engine inside out. Those 1000's can sometimes get too serious for fun if ya love it in the red line.

  • @Rob187ok

Yeah I think it's not standard, too.

But, on twisty roads, and especially at the ends of curves, a standard SV may easily kill any standard R1, at least if the driver knows how to !

  • Only Rick Astler wouldn't give you up ;)

  • All I have to say is way to out skill the rider! Proof right here people, that its not the bike, it is indeed the rider! Nicely done!

  • what a load of rubbish,,,, my 1999 R1 would thrash any SV650... who do you have on these bikes?

  • @jaspersmells At the time, I was a consistent top 3 expert class club racer. R1 guy is some street rider - he can't even hang off the bike correctly.

  • @citybikemike So you're an expert class rider and it sounds like you have a quick-shift installed on your bike (either that or you are just thrashing the hell out of your tranny) and it took you the better half of an entire lap to get around some street rider than can't hang off the bike correctly? Reverse the riders and the R1 would positively decimate your little twin. I also like how he'd LEAVE your ass on longer straights. How's that 9k RPM red line working out for you?

  • @cbrandom It worked well enough for me to make qualifying cutoff time for 600 SuperSport and Formula Extreme at AMA Nationals...

  • @citybikemike I like how this guy was trying to talk shit on you for keeping up with a bike significantly faster than yours. How is it a bad thing that a v-twin is keeping up with an I-4 purpose-build race bike?

  • @samburger077 I don't mind the sh*t talking attempts :) And if you think about it, the first gen R1 was more of a hot-rod street bike than a purpose built race bike - it's why teams like Graves Motorsports put the R1 motors in the R7 frames when they could...

  • @cbrandom thrashing his tranny is a life style choice, don't knock the bike for that ;-) "Took the better half of a lap to catch the R1". Fuck me, is that a bad thing! Give the guy a medal IMHO. I own + race a road and race GSXR1000 K4 and have owned an SV650 - clutchless changes are seamless on SVs, better than my K4. Actually, why the hell am i justifying the SV, you're a dickhead. There, that just feels better.

  • @jaspersmells its all about the rider when it comesw to the track. good rider on sv bad rider on r1 easy victory for sv

  • my sv650 is tuned up to the max and pops flames a foot long but i would not keep up with an R1 . it dose handle like a dream and i can chuck it all over the place tho.

  • he doesnt let go of the throttle when shifting gears :S!

  • he probably has a quick shifter

  • @Arno123321123321 I used to clutch my upshifts.

  • @Arno123321123321 He rides a twin. Cutting the throttle while shifting is too many things to comprehend at once. I chop the throttle between shifts and I can shift just as fast as you, if not faster.

  • what did you do to the sv to make it handle this way? What suspension do you have front and rear? Stock suspension on sv's make me want to cry

  • GSX-R750 inverted forks, resprung and revalved by Traxxion Dynamics. Fox twin-clicker rear shock, also revalved by Traxxion Dynamics. Most people agree that the Penske shock is the way to go though.

You can get it handling decent with springs and Race Tech cartridge emulators in the front end, and a stock GSX-R shock of the 96-99 vintage (I think those are the years). They're a little undersprung, but they're years better than the stock P.O.S. the SV comes with.

  • @citybikemike

Im really looking into getting an 08ish slightly used SV650. What can you tell me about it? Goods vs Bads. Ive looked up the basic facts and such, & compared to the ninja 650R. Does it have an air intake in the front and can I get GSX-R gauges retrofitted because I dont like the stock one. Thx

  • the sv can take a mean turn and did you know that suzuki originally made the sv to fu(k up the ducati's? and the sv did it and is still doing it

  • I'd think they would have given it better stock suspension bits if that was its job. I poured a sh*t ton of cash into it to make it handle.

  • that*** my B

  • hp is not the only thing that makes accel torque plays a huge part...the torque on the sv650 = torque on a gsxr600. my favorite bike is a yamaha R6 but i have an sv and ive yet to find SS 600 bike they I couldnt stay with or pass in turns.

  • the sv is definitely not a bike to underestimate. The engine is more forgiving so that means u can push harder and closer to the limits a lot easier than a SS bike.

  • in the right hands sv's can do damage !

  • what is that whistling sound?

  • Intake whistle.

  • I make myself laugh:) "what type of rubber did he use?" The r1 rider must have been using Trojans. "was he a professional?" he was a track virgin and got raped by a sv 650. Shut up!

  • woot for the sv! I love my svs as long and you can hold the better line in turns you've got it. But on the straights I know I get my ____ kicked

  • To me it did not look like the guy on th r1 was even trying. Oh by the way a gsxr 600 will kick sv's but on and of the track if you know how to launch and keep your rpm's up in corners. Get some risers for the gixer and you got a much better bike on the street as well.

    Done and done!

Now shut up about the sv your embarrassing your selves.

  • He was trying so hard the he flew off the track!

  • You mean left the track on his own accord :)

  • I'm just messin.

P.S. Rossi is not superman he can not make a 125 go faster than a 600 if it was just a circle I would beat him, so there you go Rossi fans, weep and realize that you have been owned :P

  • Teimur1 - you completely miss the point of riding an SV. Guess you'll never experience the satisfaction we SV owners get from chasing down AND passing bigger bikes. Shame you dont have any videos huh... paper round dont pay too well does it, ah well carry on saving Im sure you will be able to afford a scooter soon :D

  • You mean chasing down and passing bigger bikes on the turns? right? Cause a 600 gsxr can pass a 1000 gsxr in the corner but its still inferior to a 1000. By the way my gixer 600 will always beat you in acceleration and cornering go and take a long relaxing country trip  thats all you sv is good for :p

  • Yet again you completely miss the point. That being it is FUN to rundown sportsbikes with the SV! Its not the machine that wins races, its the big fleshy thing sat on it. AS THIS VID PROVES.

Give vale Rossi an RS125 and he would lap you and your GSXR on any given track lol. BTW I own not only an SV, but also an R1, kawi Z1000, RGV250 and a ZX14. All have thier own perks, they are all fun bikes that keep a smile on my face.

If bikes were rated on smiles per £ the SV would be king.

  • And yeah maybe the sv 650 is a great bike, if you like underpowered outdated(same for 12 years or something) pieces of crap, then by all means get one for the same price you can have a better bike (slightly used).

You can get a brand new 600 of any major brand for only 8000 at any dealership if you barter long enough. DUMP the SV in the river and go get yourself a 600.

  • sniff... sniff... can you guys smell that? OH Teimur1 is speaking his mind again!!

You completely, absolutely refuse to take in the point weve been making dontya lol

The SV is a fun bike... and since when was 80bhp underpowered? lmao ya chimp.

Why follow the sheep and buy a SS 600 when you can have as much/more fun on an SV. use it for touring commuting or scratching. Its a great little bike that can do any of the above.

  • Comment removed

  • Awh. Monkey boy hurt my feelings .."sniff... sniff..." can you guys smell that?" Personal attacks mean that I won. "You completely, absolutely refuse to take in the point we been making dont ya lol" YES

80bph...... yawn.... are we there yet?

  • ah well.... your loss I suppose. You'll never get the same satisfaction I do racing a smaller capacity bike. Shame that and I really mean it. Theres more to enjoying a ride than balls out speed. But if thats what gets you going, fair do's.

try not to dismiss smaller bikes so easily. One day youll be out and a smaller machine will fly past you mid corner and really catch you by surprise :D

Wether theyre on an SV or RGV250, thatll be when it opens your eyes to the potential of smaller machines

  • I ride a 600! Had a 250 ninja and 600 katana. But hey to each his own and if you can beat people on a sv then I gues its cool. I still dont like the bike though. :P

  • Comment removed

  • Just think, the guy on the R1 thought exactly the same as you... go out buy the biggest fastest bike I can afford and I will destroy everyone else out there... look what happened to him... nuff said.

  • What type of rubber did he use? Was the r1 rider profecional? Was the sv modified? was the sv rider more familiar with the course?

  • What do you need so many bikes for???!!! You have your favorite sv 650, just use that for all your needs and leave the other bikes to us. lol

  • why not? Like I say each bike has its own character. Each has its own little way of slapping a massive grin on my face whenever I ride them.

  • hardcorevibes!

  • Nice video! It s hard to follow a good rider on a sv! ssee my vids!

  • Ok lets be honest, everyone would rather have an R1 than an sv, but for price, insurance cost etc. I have owned a 99 sv since new, if you know what your doing it will let you get away with murder, & yes I have beaten people on much more powerful bikes

many times. However, I also own a 2003 R1. I'd be lying if I said it didn't make the sv feel sloppy & VERY slow. The dif is like night and day. This is just the way it is. I'm sure many will argue, but how many of them actually own both bikes...

  • what could you buy in parts with the difference in MSRP between the SV and any of the I4s ? Its somewhere around 3K. race heads, power commander, slip on, and maybe an inverted fork kit ? I dono, I dont have a car, all I have is my 05 SV with 41Kmiles on it so I gota be good.

  • hard core MFer.. mad props. u must never go to cold areas

  • looks like R1 rider is noob

  • Nah if he wanted to bail...He probably would...unless Citybikemike is pro...in that case he needs to show me how to be that fast :)

  • I had my AMA Pro Racing License when I filmed this, so I guess you could say that :)

  • then when do i start classes?? rofl

  • Poor quality of video, the SV sounds good though!

  • That right there, is why my first bike was an 01 Sv650, Second bike a 05 GSXR 600, now Third bike, 06 Sv650. I just had to go back.

  • That makes me feel better then, I just worked all summer and spent my earnings on a custon '06 Suzuki SV650. I haven't been able to ride it yet, but my dad sure loves it lol

  • now look i love all sport bikes and would rather push one than ride a cruiser but i have to say that on a tight course an sv is a much better bike simply because of its insane torque and smooth operation. you can barrel into a turn loose most of your rpms and still scream out of it with a throttle twist. but top speed is in no way shape or form an sv's strong point and is easily overtaken. in defense of this sv an r1 is so big so lets match up a r6 with the sv and watch the sv dominate.

  • Shall we dabble with reality for a moment... The R6 is arguably the best handling bike out there, with riders of the same level it will laugh in the face of an sv.

  • All I'm going to say is that a race in won by 70% rider 30% bike...

  • @360jeepboy more like 90% rider 10% bike. if it were 30% then a lot of the yamahas and suzukis would always win. Before anyone tries to come at me, im sorry honda fans but its just not as track worthy as the other bikes out there.

  • It's a sad day. Another SV embarrasses another victim on a "faster" bike. Makes it looks so easy.

  • I just got back from testing a gsx-r 1100 bandit 1200 and an sv650. The bandit had the most balls over all, the gixxer would undoubtably be the best at speed but I am quiter sure that most of us would be faster on the sv. Also, a new fuel map and exhaust pushes those babies from 79 to 125ish hp. A modded sv will fly. I'm picking up my sv tomorrow. Oh, and my last bike had 120 ponies and the sv still impressed me.

  • 125hp, really?

you can get 45 hp out of an SV650 with just an exhaust and fuel map? That seems very unlikely to me

  • First, a stock SV doesn't have 79hp. Suzuki rates second gen SVs at 72hp. Second, look at the dynos for aftermarket exhausts. I can almost guarantee that those are done remapped. You'll get a nice boost, but a nice boost is about 5hp. I ride and love the SV, but you will never get it to match a GSX-R, R1, or any of the like in terms of high speed, straight line performance.

  • this is in response to the 125hp claim from an earlier poster...

  • yeah, I'm not sure where he got that from. It's a pretty ridiculous claim. If he is expecting to bring an SV650 home, put new exhaust and do a power commander and get a 125hp bike, then he's going to be sourly disappointed.

  • I just bought an '06 custom SV650 over the summer. The previous owner worked at a racing performance company (cars only). He has a ridiculous number of modifications on the bike. He shaved 38lbs of the bike, and did some small things (exhaust) to boost the horse power w/out really touching the engine to much. I asked how much hp the bike had and he said around 80-90..I can't remember the exact number. Does that sound right? He was very knowledgeable and seemed to be a really honest guy.

  • you dont know what your talking about, the sv is not a stunt bike. the bike is a tvin and stunting will kill the motor.

  • @7mile7 why will stuntint the sv kill the motor ?

  • @salchipapa8000 the front cylinder has issues with oil starvation due to prolonged wheelies (stunting) I have no idea how long said wheelie has to be before you completely starve the cylinder... but the traditional idea is SV + wheelie = BOOM.

  • yeah haaaaa great vid. Is that the new HD cam from dollar world. hahahahhah i kill me

  • Nice one that just made my week, Thanks

    I was thinking 1960's 8mm camcorder LOL

  • Yea. All the "R1's will kill an SV" have never driven an SV...or likely an R1 for that matter. Off the light, or on the exit of a turn, it's pretty hard to hold onto a Vtwin. My 02SV has a nice shock on it, and some pretty potent forks, and i'll show tail-lights to anyone with an R1 on a twisty road.

  • @YYZdank Or they've never ridden a 1st gen R1 at speed. The word is that they were super flexy at speed - in order to make them handle, racers had to brace / gusset the shit out of their frames.

  • i`ve run my SV650 against R1`s, Fireblades and Gixxers on the straights i`m left for dead it only does 140MPH top wack, but anyone can ride fast in a straight line, in the twistees im in front with BRIDGESTONE 010`s front and rear

  • Of the two on that track (or anywhere really) I'd way prefer the SV, especially the one in this video because it goes and sounds so good, and for a normal guy, ie not Troy Bayliss type person, the SV would be much easier to ride fast. Whatever you can be confident and relaxed on will be fast. My son has an SV and its really nice, another son just bought a new Aprilia RSV1000, which is pretty awsome, its got nice drive also, way better to ride than the 4cyl he had before.

  • helsfury..RGS... LMFAO what does this vid show? a dragstrip?? public roads with speed limits?? get off the liter highhorse already

sad, just with the attitude you'll probably never have half the talents of this SVrider.

    nice vid

  • yea, my 05 is awesome.. but ill be racing t-hill the first weekend of july. i can't wate that track is too fun!!

  • that looks like thunderhill on a carbed sv:)

  • Correct - gotta love the whistle of the flatslides :) I can't believe how sloppy I used to ride...

  • Sv is a great bike, but no way could take an R1, except maybe in the corners because it is so light weight and has AWESOME torque.

  • The sv650 is a great bike for handling. the corners and tight turns are the sv's specialties. In a staright run the R1 would crush the sv but hey the sv is still a great bike

  • All that power means nothing if the bike doesn't handle well.

  • if the R1 driver sucks, i dont see why not =) but, in general a R1 should easily be able to over-take an SV 650. Its like comparing a FZR600 with a gsxr1000. no shite. SV is still a great bike though.

  • No way, an SV can eat an R1 on any turn. Straight line that R1 should smear the sv though, specially the 650

  • When why in the world championships we don't see the pros going out with a SV650.. let alone wining??? I commend your passion for the bike, but lets be reasonable here.. Suzuki is not STUPID to sell the "SUPERIOR" SV650 for lesser than their GSX or INCOMPETENT to incorporate the SV650 technology into their GSX if it indeed is better.

  • theres a huge group of sv racers... the cost is less cause a r6 cbr1000 ect. are basically street legal race bikes look at the specs... sv has a more timid engine but a leaner profile and strong torque but it doesnt have high horsepower... thats why you dont see them in world championships it has crazy handling but low top end..

  • I don't understand how an FZR600 is analogous to an SV650S. An R1 to a Gsxr1k is a fair comparison, but a SV to a FZR? Besides displacement, I don't see how they're even remotely related.

  • sport-touring, thats what they both are

  • If you're going to respond to a comment it's best to know what you're talking about. An FZR is not a sport-touring bike, an FJR is a sport-touring bike, as is the Honda ST. FZR, GSXR, CBR, these are all super sport class. And the guy above is right, V-twins and I-4's don't merit a comparison.

  • my bad he didnt put the Y in front and thought he was talking about the Fazer 600! my bad, clearly its not.

  • The SV's handle like a champ. Of all the bikes I have ridden it handles better then any other sports bike out there

  • sure it is the rider! R1's one of the greatest bikes ever built for race tracks, no chance for a sv - but sv good bike anyway..

  • it IS the bike, SV is great for cornering

  • great video!proof that its not the bike its the rider!

  • Clearly the guy on the R1 can't ride for shit or is going very easy.

  • pretty good match up. the sv650 v-twin is light weight with great torque, perfect for corners
