I actually grew quite fond of flying with British Airways, and it's funny, because the pilots' announcements really sounded kind of like that...seeing BA with different eyes from now on :)
What Alan should have added is that often when the cabin crew asks if anyone ordered the vegetarian meal, non-veggies will stick their hands up because they like the look of it! Often I've been told 'sorry, they're all gone' when we specifically ordered them!
Pity he's not as great standup as his other comedy ventures. A funny bloke but this act seems a bit immature, just the material is weak I suppose. Gay pilots, good for a one liner, or maybe comedy has moved on since then.
I don't find Alan's stand-up funny. Which is really really annoying, because I love him as a person. So I watch them anyway and try really hard to like them.
The bit about vegetarian meals is so completely accurate... I used to fly around a lot for work, and I've been a vegetarian since I was twelve. I've had stewards/stewardesses bitch and whine about the meatless meals before >.<
Yep you always feel so awkward sitting there with your meal, and everyone stares at you because you got yours before everyone else, and whoever you're traveling with is all "Oh what have you got!" and the reply is almost always "Vegetarian lasagna" or "Casserole".
Whereas I was on a flight that was 2/3 Muslim passengers coming back from Paris not long ago, so the Halal meals came out first and those of us getting standard airline fare were massively un-special.
its the same with: Kosher meals, Vegetarian meals, Lactose intolerance meals, Children's meals, Vegan meals, Low Carb meals, and any other "special dietary needs" meals.
I love him sooo much...he is a comfort in my darkest hours, laughing is such wonderful therapy and his sense of humour is very gentle..thank you Sir a true star. x
Ooooh! "Special Fooooooooooood!!" As I've been a vegetarian for most of my life (Well soon, I just have to be a LITTLE bit older, but you don't know that), I can vouch for that the "Special Food"-bit is true.. Then they look at you like a lost puppy, a lost ANGRY puppy when you don't finish everything. "I stayed up late cooking this JUST FOR YOU all night, with all the right ingrediences, just so you could leave half the quorn-fillet. That's just great. I spat in it, just so you know."
I don't know, he doesn't look drunk. Possibly stoned, but I think he would be the first person to realize that if you're stoned you can't do a show. To me he just looks really tired.
LOL! The whole "pilot-sex" bit reminds me of a weird commercial I once saw, of two men being "intimate" with each other on a plane, then they get dressed and you realize they're the pilots, but they're locked in the bathroom. I still can't recall what the commercial was advertising...
probably banned it but it sounds cool..mile high club..lol!I love some ad's for the artistry, i never remember what the commercials are except if they are beer..lol! I wouldn't mind I don't drink that much.:) x
I've got this whole show on DVD and it is quite possibly my favourite standup sketch of all time!!! Fair play to you for putting it online!!! Absolutely hilarious!!! Him and Rowan Atkinson are my all time heroes!!!
Yeah, I think it's what got me interested in standup in the first place, I remember watching it on the tellybox back in 1998 or something. It's probably my favourite alongside Bill Bailey's Part Troll. :]
I think my favorite part of this whole special might be when Alan has a sidebar with the overly amused woman. "You're doing jokes of your own in your head, arent you?"

He's not vegetarian actually - he eats fish. Maybe when he did that bit he was an actual vegetarian - but he sure as hell isn't one now. Go vegan!
