First movie I saw as a small boy was, "The Day the Earth stood still." I was at a very young & impressible age & frame of mind. That night of seeing the movie, those infamous three words, 'Klato, Baradda, Nicto,' echoed me into a peaceful sleep. Yes, I agree that this movie, "Stranger from Venus," is very much likened to the former down to the leading lady, Patricia Neal, although the 'message' from both visitors were similar; this one holds its on in emotion. Which one came 1st? No matter. C 2.
British films, like the British people, are so much more reserved, so low-key, not feeling the need for monsters, hideous make-up, elaborate special effects, and so forth. And yet their point is perfectly made thru superb acting, an intelligent script, wonderful direction, simple, effective art direction, and all those things that we Americans seem to assign secondary importance. With us, it's loud, disjointed action, exploitation of the senses, whilst the brain is deprived of nourishment.
That was one of the most ridiculous movies I've ever seen. The script made no sense, and the acting was like a bad high school play. The only redeeming factor was that it was so bad, it was entertaining.
This movie is basically the same story and even stars the same female lead (Patricia Neal) of the 1951 remake retitled "The Day The Earth Stood Still", again remade in 2008 starring Keanu Reeves!
Great film. They dont make `em like that any more !. Did the Aliens come and paint the planet Earth ?.. as I noticed we lived in a black and white world at one time.
It was made in the British MGM studios. Lots of media people blacklisted by McCarthy worked in the UK in the 50s, not sure if the people who made this were victims of the US communist witch hunt.
The script is pretty lame, the actors are simply unconvincing and the dialogue is from out of this world ... but what a photography ... one of the best and well balanced black and white cinematographies I've ever seen ... that really came as a very pleasant surprise ...
great!!. movies on youtube.. any old star trek movies? or classics like, scrooge, wizard of oz, Oliver, etc etc ?? will you post v good ones?? thank you.
by that distortion you mostly only need to load again (new) this adress. repeat the load instruction once. then it runs - i know this shit. sometimes there is the attempt to hold us away by unknown sometimes to many viewers log on and the server is overloaded and you get this message "error - try later".
Proof that great Sci Fi doesn't need color or even much in the way of special effects. Great writing, acting, casting and direction plus imagination go pretty far. The only gaf is that Venus is not millions of light years away!
So much like The Day The Earth Stood Still, but in many ways better. Certainly more touching and less ominous. Proof that great Sci Fi doesn't have to have expensive or even sophisticated special effects. Wonderful acting and casting.
Three years after The Day The Earth Stood Still, Visitor was made. The Plot points match, but with little of the spectacle of the original. this film even borrows one of the stars. Quieter in tone, this film gets points for the thoughtful approach to aliens. slow moving, with few outdoor shots, the story manages to hold interest.
ahhahahahaahha 2:15 aahahaha omfg!!! ahahahhah i just laughed my ass off!!! ahhaah that was so cheap lmfao!!!! I can make a better video with my phone lmfao. It's funny how this is a horror film its more like a comidy
