i hate to break it to you but the first people who lived in Japan were chinese who escaped the empire some time before Sun Jian and Cao Cao were born.
@vampigoth1155 Actually, the archeological evidence points to the Yamato tribe being from Korea while the Emishi and Ainu were Russian. I believe the Ryukyuans might have originated in China, but I'm not sure. Also, I don't understand what Sun Jian and Cao Cao have to do with it, as Japan was settled around 30,000 BC, far before even the Han dynasty was established in China.
@Xezlec I'm also annoyed that many westerners don't know much about asia and thinking china and japan as the same is totally weird, but there are always people who don't know about things. Many westerners are interested in asia and knows these things, don't worry '^ .^
Why does this matter who is greater than who? Just as the British and America have influenced other countries, China has influenced other countries in the past. Every country has its own distinct culture whether or not it had foreign influence. Chinese writing was the root of Japanese writing. Latin was a root of most western writing, so hush now. It does not matter. You cannot know Chinese and write Japanese, and you cannot know Japanese and write Chinese, therefore they are different.
i hope one day after i gradute and a year before i go to college i'll be able to go to travel japan china korea and the european country areas so i can be able to post info on my new website that i hope you can go to online the site is undergoing creation so i'll post the site's name on my channel so visit sometimes
What rubbish from Xezlec. The two culture are very much interwined. It has become popular for some people to say things like "China and Japan are COMPLETELY different" when the truth is that most, and I make no generalisation when I say this, cultural aspects of Japan have their roots in, or have been massively influenced by China e.g. ceramics, poetry, painting, tea, literature, ethics etc . . . The list goes on and on. Myself being Chinese, I knew the meaning of the video title straight away.
@Bloodlovefreak That was stated like a true Chinese. I can read the Kanji, therefore I know everything there is to the Japanese. China is superior and the Japanese suck! Trust me, I lived in Japan for eight years and there are a lot of things wrong with Japan. But to infer that Japan is not uniquely Japan is pure ignorance and a whole lot of jingoistic nonsense. Which, by the way, the Chinese are quite good at. Jingoism, that is.
@cleamatra Well, I've never said anythig to the effect that "Japan is not uniquely" if that is what you are implying. I was merely lambasting the reactionary attitude of Xezec who thinks that China and Japan are as different as America and Mexico. This is typical of a Westerner who lacks any understanding of Chinese characters (kanji) or how great a role Chinese writers, philosophers and poets have played in shaping Japanese ethics and aesthetics.
@Bloodlovefreak I think that Xezlec is right. Although the number of chinese influences is considerable (the kanji, the sadou, and the whole Hei-An stuff) many of those things took different turn than in China, including music. When you compare cuultures of USA and Mexico (or for example Britain and France) you find that their mutual influence and difference is about the same as between Japan and China.
@TheoEvian So you think Japan and China are as different as the USA and Mexico (since you think Xezlec is correct)? That is just objectively wrong and I have given many reasons why before. I could give more but it will be more useful for you to read up Japan a bit more. I am not asserting that one culture is superior to another, but I am getting tired of Westerners, who have minimal understanding of both cultures, spouting nonsense and getting thumbs up.
I can't understand the lyrics but hell I don't thin I need to, coz I already know how she feels while singing this. That is what makes a song good, if you can feel it no matter what! ^_^
Japan borrowed the ideas from China and pioneered their own. Why invent inventions that are already invented when you can improve that invention beyond it's capabilities.
yeaaa! so true <3 there's so much feeling in traditional japanese music ! It's also really calming ^^ and it reminds me of being surrounded by nature ~ and just lay on a field full with sakura , and a deep blue sky!

@YouLoveWaffles Japan uses 4 different writing systems, each for a different thing. Kanji (Chinese characters) are used to write most words. Hiragana are symbols that represent sounds, not words. but tat's wat i read n tats wat i found interestin bout these two culture! ^__^
Well I learned in history class that the Chinese and etc...came to Japan through a landbrudge back like 10 000 years ago. And they were also joined by Koreans and etc and than these different people somehow after centuries created the Japanese people. Than after that some Japanese took the task of travelling to China to see how their culture/government and lifestyle is like and they come home share with everyone. of course not everything, but they took some ideas from the Chinese culture.
her voice is the most calming, beautiful voice in the world. it makes feel something completely different than any other. it knocks me off my feet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where can I find this music? I'm a huge fan of J-pop, like Hikari Utada, and equally a fan of Japanese traditional instruments, like 12 Girls Band. If I give you my email, will you hook a girl up with a fix? XD
Maybe I can't, or maybe it was an accident. You just made an ass of yourself by pointing it out. The point is I love music, especially when it incorporates elements of old and new, east and west, rock or pop. You are not the judge of how big a fan I am just because I called her Hikari instead of Hikaru. She's not even my favorite, just a famous name that I know, like Hamasaki Ayumi, Akeboshi, and Yokko Kanno. Thanks, your critism has been accepted and returned.
I don't mind if foreigner can spell or sound Japanese name correctly. So do us Japanese!
This unit "Rin' " unfortunatedly disbanded in this February. Their "Inland Sea" album is available from 《DOMO Records》 in americas. And for other titles, please check their Japanese HP.They were lable mate of popular singers you know;Ayumi Hamasaki, Kumi Koda.
By the way, You missed the spell Yoko Kanno...lol Oh,never mind! Nobody cares!
Ok.. enough with this pointless thread - people who overly criticize others over insignificant spelling mistakes irritate me to no end.
If the message was legible enough to get the meaning across then there is no need to attempt to show off by correcting it and, quite often, attempting to boost your ego in the process.
yeah, i agree. of course 月 has two meanings, but in here, if you read the lyrics, it's talking about the moon; and also if you really listen to what they are singing, it's Kagami no Tsuki
Japanese language is so so beautiful!! Oh my God!! I really really love it!! Whit this language you can express your feelings already whan you change tone of your voice.. This light music can carry you in other places.. I´am enrapt!!

The waxing and waning of the moon even seems clear and bright
The moon inside the round bamboo blind only disappears
Ah, this feast also vanishes to forever
Ah, the fire in our hearts seems to have disappeared
The birth of this brand new moon gracefully sets in the sky
Like the transient world we live in light's the cycle of the mirror of the moon

In the sky the sixteen-day-old moon gracefully watches the changes in our lives
And from this ancient world of ours, a cloudless mirror of the moon is cast
The shapes of all these things are transient
The shapeless spirits ride only on the boat of time
Ah, if only life was a one night dream
Now let's plant these endless thoughts in our heads
Before long like the waning moon our thoughts and bodies will narrow
With thousands of tears and grief we will embrace the goddess in our arms

@Xezlec If you ask me, it doesn't really matter where the roots are, they're both beautiful cultures worth exploring, learning about and admiring :D

Where can I find this music? I'm a huge fan of J-pop, like Hikari Utada, and equally a fan of Japanese traditional instruments, like 12 Girls Band. If I give you my email, will you hook a girl up with a fix? XD

you can't be that big of a fan because you can't even spell Utada HIKARU's name right...
TotchiChanLuv 3 years ago
Maybe I can't, or maybe it was an accident. You just made an ass of yourself by pointing it out. The point is I love music, especially when it incorporates elements of old and new, east and west, rock or pop. You are not the judge of how big a fan I am just because I called her Hikari instead of Hikaru. She's not even my favorite, just a famous name that I know, like Hamasaki Ayumi, Akeboshi, and Yokko Kanno. Thanks, your critism has been accepted and returned.

Oh, please don't just argue that makes no-sence.

Enough already, thanks.

Ok I've had my fair share of messages saying that the title of this song is wrong.. when infact Kagami Gatsu (鏡月) is actually correct.
Yes I know that 月 = moon but it is also used as the word 'month' ie; Ichi-Gatsu (First Month - January)
So in actuality the name of this song is Mirror Month and not Moon :-)
Ponpokoi 3 years ago
What you say is true, 月 can be used as month, but based on the lyric, Mirror Moon seems to be more appropriate
prettybabycatty1109 3 years ago 11
yeah, i agree. of course 月 has two meanings, but in here, if you read the lyrics, it's talking about the moon; and also if you really listen to what they are singing, it's Kagami no Tsuki
SurrealnoRakuen 3 years ago 3
title: Kagami-tsuki 鏡月 (mirror moon)
=D
CloudStrifeXP 3 years ago 2
yeah, from what they sing, i think this is the correct one :)
