He's probably using mod-wheel for expression and a pedal for vibrato, I can't see if that's a controller with mod-wheel and pitch bend on 2 axes like Edirol-pcr 300-500-800, that way you can control bending notes too...

It's too bad they discontinued this direction... look at the monitors. This clip is from 2004-05 .. truly, years ahead of it's time..Both the Stradavari and the Gofriller cello were just astounding. I'm lucky enough to have original copies of both. Irreplaceable now....

@theiammike123 I'm curious as to how this is done as well, but I'm guessing it's a 4-way modulation knob.

@theiammike123 The modulation wheel is used for vibrato. He's using an expression pedal to control the dynamics and he's doing the portamento using velocity (while playing legato). The softer he plays the keys, the slower it is (longer portamento time).
