I never see Robinson move like that before in the last round... He was making the other guy look like they were in different times ! lol... He carried that man ! Robinson was better than Roy Jones. This fight proved he could be elusive like hell if he wanted to.
got damn sugr ray robinson one of the most amazeing things about him was how he could throw such short punches that do so much damage. Also such and amazeing chin never ever knocked speed, power, timeing at its best

@Steam0116 They have footage of him in his prime against Docusen, Fusari, Angott, Beckett, and Riccio. Maybe there's some other stuff out there hidden as well. Greatest fighter I've ever seen.
There is little welterweight footage of him but you can see that he was quicker in those days. He may have still been the welterweight champ here as you can see by how fast he is still.
ahh finally. ive seen plenty of ray robinson fights but most in the late 50's.the only real difference is his footwork has more bounce and he seems to enjoy it more. whenever people say ali fought like him i used to think yeah quite a bit, but in this i can really see y they say that, hes bouncing around alot more at this period of his career and they are really similar.robinson had fought alot of his fights closer to the midlleweight limit even during his welterweight years,he was a big welter
You can see his legs are faster and he has more bounce. The knockdown or the part where he staggered Dykes and he slumped into the ropes was beautiful. He was gliding backward giving ground and still had the power to hurt the man.
Robinson was still in the welterweight division but was having difficulty making weight and this was a over the weight limit fight before jumping to middleweight.
He was still the Welterweight champion but was looking for the middleweight crown. Ray had been fighting over the weight fights and won the Pa Middleweight crown that same year.
This is probably the tail end of his prime boxing years.
You're right, alpha. Ray was 157 for this fight and had already been fighting above welter prior to this. As well, he never dropped back down to 147 at any time after this bout, so this should be considered the middleweight version of Robinson.

great footage, a real shame that he was not recorded in his prime, to see him at his very best. he was a great fighter.

This is not welterweight robinson. He weighed 157 for this fight and had already started fighting as a middleweight.
Still, its great rare footage
