In a way you are right but when it's comes to Advent Children he's not scared of being like Zack he was envious of Zack, He wanted to be the hero too but he was just a lowly infantryman (a copy). He doesn't purposely forget Zack he just did (partially cause of the Mako addiction). He's depressed because he let all these people so close to his heart down and he inadvertently stole Zacks life Zacks past and he cant remember the whole truth. In a way he's lost himself. And I do see it and like it.

When Cloud gets in trouble during the battle against Sephiroth, Zack Shows up and talks to him, after that Cloud feels strong enough to kill Seph ;)

At 2:08 you reflected the image so that Sephiroth is right-handed instead of left-handed, and that he pierced Clouds left (less dominant) shoulder. Seph's handedness is reverted back to normal at 2:15 and 2:21 (clips from the same scene).

Is that an aesthetic choice or unintentional?

it wasn't unintentional, otherwise i wouldn't have done it, i still can't remember the reason, but usually i do things with a reason. usually :S

the switch back was so it would look like seph pointed the sword at cloud, just like kadaj has in the next clip, so it would look like a resemblance with zack who also has seph's sword right on top of him.

and at 2:21 there was apparently no reason to switch back ;)
