I can hear Bon Scott must have been influenced by ZZ Top. I've seen others mention "The Jack" but also, listen to "Ride On" by AC/DC and you'll hear it too.
@unahaklosp why complicate life. seemed to work over there 30 years plus selling millions. We're an un-complicate breed here in the west, where u from.? greece.
ride on is slightly slower in tempo than this, but either are great tunes and stand on their own. if you like the blues you loves either song... just saying
I love this song, and riff, so I'm not disagreeing with anyone who's saying that AC/DC copied Ride On....however, this is a pretty classic blues riff. ZZTop got it from Muddy Waters, who got it from some other guy etc.etc.etc. It's the nature of the blues. What makes it great is how each artist puts their own spin on it. ZZTop rock the shit out of this song, and AC/DC do just as well with Ride On. Both great songs, so don't worry about comparing or saying who stole what from who...just enjoy :)
I was born in 1978 and man.. I remember my father's good friend from years before i was born(they still ride their harleys all over the country together. talk about a great friendship! :D) listening to this album when i was a youngster. Been hooked ever since. +1 for uploading
I always dug Billy Gibbon's vocals. Different and so earthy, if you know what I mean. Unique in his vocals, his guitar playing...hell, everything. Whole damn band is great if you ask me.
Pre-Deguello TOP is THE TOP. Sadly, this band have been nothing but a comedy act since 1980....not the band Hendrix said 'had the best guitarist in America'....Dusty, Billy, Frank...YOU'RE TEXANS, BY GOD....you have a commitment based on your lineage to DO IT HEAVY....TO THE UTMOST...better COME HOME, boys. AGAIN, I beseech you, as a NATIVE SON- GET HEAVY AGAIN...It's in ya and it's got to come out!
@Ledzep69Man Maybe he wasnt talking about which song was made first but that Ride On pretty much has the same chird patterns, both great songs in my opinion
@Ledzep69Man I think he was just drawing a connection, and I think both are more or less just odes to the blues tunes of yesterday. No need to get all mad about a YouTube comment. Both songs are good.
@vicecitylocal Actually, one could view anything after the midway point of something as as "late". So really, saying late 70's isn't that inaccurate. Since '76 was in the later part of the decade.
@Ledzep69Man Oh come on now. Neither of them copied each other, they were both just using a classic blues form. Their a hundreds of songs with this feel.
