Does Einstein know any swear words (even mild ones), and if so, does she use them in context? I had a Mitred Conure who had learned some before we had him and he and pulled them out when he was upset.
@doggletts No, she doesn't even know mild ones. However, we have a friend who inherited a Grey who drops the "F" Bomb whenever the owner gets upset or is not pleased by something. The owner doesn't even have to say anything, the bird senses the displeasure and vocalizes appropriately!
hey, einstein is amazing, i would love to get a parrot but my father says they get sick easily, is it true? and if it is is there an easy solution to it?
do you let her out all night? im thinking you probabbly put her in a cage at night. i love einstein! i have 3 conures. i love how you give einstein the freedom to walk around! i wish i could do that with mine..but they poop everywhere! lol.@4zebird
That's the spookiest, most wonderful thing I've seen in ages. Wow. Interesting how the voices change as she imitates a woman and then a man. And knowing the names of all the foods that are handed to her! Drink a water.... see ya later!
That noise she makes at 2:13, is that the sound of you guys giving her kisses or what? It's almost creepy how smart she is or seems, at least. She dances when she says "dance birdy" and there's a very distinct difference when she imitating you or Jeff, and she seems to love congraulating herself! XD She's just a very intellagent creature from what I've seen.
@4zebird does einstein sleep in the cage or you let him free outside? and another question. I have a parrot like yours, I let it outside too, but when I come to put it in the cage, it starts yelling and biting me. do you have any solution for that pls? By the way, Love your vids. don't ever stop!! :P
@jean4777 Yes, she sleeps in a cage at night. And she goes to her cage when we are not at home. Read and learn everything you can about positive reinforcement training. It takes time and patience, but it WORKS! Search on Google for GoodBird, Inc. All the information is there. The training DVD's are wonderful! I own all of them. Einstein was raised using this training.
@4zebird Actually a parrot like the Congo could majorly hurt your finger and possibly take a chunk off it, but not remove it. In other cases a Cockatoo sized parrot could take your finger off or seriously, seriously damage your finger. For both the Congo and Cockatoo would need a perfect bite to remove a chunk or a finger for that matter. My parrot, Jojo has done some serious bite. (11 bites, I've counted.)
@kalvin208 Yes! Search & Check out Good Bird Inc. Lots of good info about positive reinforcement training and behavior modification for companion parrots.
@BlazingDragons7 African Greys are known to be good mimics. She simply heard the sound of a drain or pouring something in a glass and started repeating the sound. Search "how do parrots mimic sound" for more information.
Will she be quiet if you tell her too? Like if you're watching TV or trying to go to sleep or something? You know, it's2:30am and I can't quit watching Einstein videos!
@hnh1384 No, parrots talk when they want and there is nothing you can do to keep them quiet. I tried taking a nap the other day and she talked for 1 1/2 hours! No nap for me! When in her cage, at night with a cover over her cage she is quiet until the sun comes up. Then she wants out and is a chatty bird!
as an african grey owner myself i sometimes take it for granted how smart these birds are but this one is by far the best ive ever seen lots of love to the owner & god bless you for your your time &effort
How old is she? Einsteins is so cool. Interesting they all make similar sounds when 'not talking' ours does the gurgling water thing also. But . . . when I come in with a camera or recorder he suddenly gets silent. Do you use a motion recorder to capture everything? Aren't they wonderful pets!
@lauralee07011 She will be 14 on June 15th. We do not use a motion recorder. We set a camera on a tripod and just let it record. She is very used to the camera because started using it when she was very young.
Dont you ever get an headache listening to Einstein like that all the time as he's probably sitting there in the living room while you're watching television - "...David..! ..David Letterman!" etc. :P

I know I so appreciate them.....keep up the great vids. :)
My two boys and my wife and I all love Einstein! We are all stuck on the "Sweetie, you know what? Here's some grapes!" I think we are the parrots as we mimic her lines a little too much! LOL "Got to go to work!" Another favorite of ours! WE LOVE Einstein!! Now eat your corn darn it!
@rodmauldin That's so funny! We also find ourselves imitating her! We were at a football game once and it started raining, my nephew started saying, "Look at choo!, you're all wet!!!" I wonder how many people, have started using Einstein's sayings as part of their "new" vernacular? :)
@BigDLuis She's quiet some of the day. also when eating and napping. Learning time varies. Sometime right away. with in a few days, sometimes months, sometimes never. She decides when to talk and what she will say.
@4zebird Also, don't birds talk when they are ready, but when they "get it exactly right?" I had a senegal and she wouldn't say anything, then wamooo....she would come up with some things that sounded just like she was taught. Amazing! I love your Einstein and am getting another senegal in about 3 weeks when she is weaned..so excited! I love animals......they are the so innocent, trusting and give nothing but total love back.
I LOVE how you can tell when she is imitating Marcia or Jeff. Her voice changes tones and mirrors theirs. That is so amazing. Einsten is so smart. You guys are truly dedicated and wonderful owners. This is how birds should be taken care of. So many people buy them because they want a talking bird, then the bird doesn't talk and they neglect and forget about them. You should be proud of yourselves! GOOD OWNERS! Does Einstein have a cage or just roam? I've never seen her in one!
@summer817 Thanks! You are so right! Many people don't realize the commitment it takes to raise a parrot. I like to say that it is very much like raising a child. It takes time, patience, money, more patience, nurturing, and lots of love!!! Einstein is not allowed to roam. We take her to various perches in the house. She does have a cage. She is only in it at night or when we humans must leave the house. You may want to visit her website. Link is in the comments section.
I have two Greys. One talks the other squawks. :) The one who talks loves to go "walking" to the computer & she loves to watch Einstein. Later, I will hear her repeat a lot of what Einstein says. It's amazing. My Greys get along ok... but I am thinking it's time to separate them. They are eight yrs old in human years now. But I can tell they need their own spaces. This species is particularly amazing. they are a major commitment. I wouldn't get one if you're not willing to commit.
I just love her!!! She is so smart and beautiful. I'm thinking of buying a parott and was told to check out Einstein. I know they live a very long time and would plan on having the parott written into my will. I would make sure it was always taken care of.
You are so lucky to have found such a wonderful African Grey.
@mortonsalt18 Thank you! They are a very big commitment. Before you buy a parrot do some reading and research. They are like having a 2 year old child for the rest of your life. Best part.. Companionship. However, you MUST spend time with them. Make them part of the family.
what kind of parrot is she? and did you teach her to talk or did she start on her own? im planning to ask my parents for a bird like her, because she is just georgeous! <3
@GwyndorPokemon13 She is an African Grey Parrot. Before you buy a parrot do some reading and research. They are like having a 2 year old child for the rest of your life. Best part.. Companionship. However, you MUST spend time with them. Make them part of the family. There is NO guarantee that they will talk. They are messy. They poop and drop food everywhere. I clean about 3 times a day.
@4zebird okay. ill have to wait until i get out of college then. i have.......how many years...??? um, 8 or 9 years until that happens. appilachian state, ill be trying to get into you early!!!
If you picture a human saying this, picture the human in a padded room with a straitjacket on, you have yourself the typical Insane human. Super beastly bird though.
I love your bird she is so smart. I love African Greys they are just amazing birds and beautiful birds. I had one a few years ago and I still wish I had him but when I moved I had to get rid of him cause I couldnt have him in the new place. It broke my heart to sell him. I will have one again someday when my husband and I buy a house.
@A340Rox yes he would or some1 would have spent loads of time chatting to it or they pick up noises from tv or radio if you get one it easier to learn to chat to a baby parrot i learnt a budgie to talk once
@SailorBalance Good Question! I don't know. Birds like to make noise. Whether it's chirps or words. I think she is just vocalizing what come naturally - what she has learned.
She is potty trained. Einstein is more fastidious than most other parrots. We don’t really know why. We did train her to poop on command when she was about 4 months old. The command is “bombs away”. (She will also poop at will, without the command.) She will not poop in her favorite kitchen drawer or cabinet. We are home when she is in those areas and we take her often to relieve herself.
I have a parakeet and he is nothing compared to an African grey. all he says is his friends name.... boo....

GwyndorPokemon13 1 year ago
@GwyndorPokemon13 She is an African Grey Parrot. Before you buy a parrot do some reading and research. They are like having a 2 year old child for the rest of your life. Best part.. Companionship. However, you MUST spend time with them. Make them part of the family. There is NO guarantee that they will talk. They are messy. They poop and drop food everywhere. I clean about 3 times a day.

When Einstien talks to herself, does she know she's talking to herself or does she think she's talking to someone?
SailorBalance 1 year ago
@SailorBalance Good Question! I don't know. Birds like to make noise. Whether it's chirps or words. I think she is just vocalizing what come naturally - what she has learned.

Is Einstein potty trained?? Or does she say a certain word when she wants to potty??
unexxxxpected 1 year ago
She is potty trained. Einstein is more fastidious than most other parrots. We don’t really know why. We did train her to poop on command when she was about 4 months old. The command is “bombs away”. (She will also poop at will, without the command.) She will not poop in her favorite kitchen drawer or cabinet. We are home when she is in those areas and we take her often to relieve herself.
