I miss diet products that they took off the shelves that worked for me. Haven't seen Abba Zabba candy in years. Some old things you can find mail order from Vermont Country store. Miss the old time milk man, laundry man, Fuller brush man with free samples. LA used to have a good thing, Helms bakery that brought fresh baked goods to your door.
I remember a couple types of bubble gum they don't make. One was called Bubbs Daddys. was maybe a foot long. Another one was called Mouthfulls. That one was about the size and thickness of a deck of cards.

I miss Cher's "UNINHIBITED" perfume, it was launched in 1988 & was only on the market for 2 years and was discontinued. I wish they'd bring it back, it was the best scent ever, and theres not another perfume that smells even close to it. Vintage bottles fetch BIG bucks on eBay. Yes, National Arrowroot Biscuits (cookies) have been made for more than 100 years! Nabisco took over the original company and has made them for at least 40 years. They changed the original recipe in Jan. of '07. They were a softer cookie so they'd dissolve in a baby's mouth to prevent choking, but the new formula doesn't allow that to happen. Choking hazard! Not good, since they're marketed to babies. And I loved them (sniff!).
When I was little (I'm only 17 now) KFC used to carry Chicken Littles--they were just like two bites and they were gone, they were so good.... "Chicken Snackers" have nothing on them!

What about "Jiffy Pop, Jiffy Pop, the magic treat, as much fun to make as it is to eat." Y'know -- those foil popcorn pans you used to pop (i.e. scorch) on the stove and they blew up into a mushroom-cloud shape...? Can you find those in the store anymore?
I found Jiffy Pop in the dollar bins at Target, maybe in the fall of last year. (I remember seeing them there the previous year too.) But I don't know if you can get them all the time in grocery stores. I did buy one for old times sake, and boy that old-fashioned oily popcorn tasted good! :-)

Jolene, I use to love the scent of a cleaning product called "Cinch". It was an all purpose cleaner that cleaned..well damn, near everything...my window, counter tops...I use to think of things to clean so that my whole trailer would not have that misty smell! So, what happened to it?
SpicAndSpan still makes it, they just put more of their company name overtop the Cinch name...From their website, it says you can call them to order it..

I miss how the hair sprays used to work in the 80's and early 90's...they are not as good nowadays...as a hairstylist...I am not pleased by the supposed "environmentally safe" ones I am a bit sceptical that they just are not as good, cheaper quality, and HUGE prices! I sound a bit bitter, sorry about that!
Another pain is how they mess up good products by trying to make them "healthyer" I guess. They substitute sugar with chemicals altering the flavour. They pump more chemicals into food replacing natural ingridients claiming it is healthyer, I wonder why cancer is on the rise.
another thing about glass bottles, In Canada (Toronto mainly) you can sometimes come by Coca Cola in glass bottles, ofcourse a 6-pack costs 4 times more than tins but I will say this again the taste can not be compared
I have to agree with you about the shampoo...it was the BEST. When I was young there were two cereals that came out at the same time. Quisp and Quake. I find Quisp now and then but never Quake, and of course that was my favorite. YUM!

.33 Liter glass bottles in Germany (and overseas)are made...but they have the twist style cap like on the plastic bottles in the states. I'm saving the bottle I got and taking it as a souvenier.
hey im studying in Grenada and they do have soda in the half liter glass bottles. and I do agree its a pain to get them out of the machine. I dont know if its just me but it tastes soooooo much better out of glass compared to the tins or plastic bottles.
The glass bottles keep the fizz better then the cans or the plastic bottles. They perfected bottled soda (remember before people would go to a soda shop and the soda jerk would pour in carbinated water and pump shots of syrup into it) to last and taste it's best in a glass bottle. Jones cola makes pure cane cola but I can't tell the difference between, I am only 26 :) But I do remember in the 80's when they used to have glass bottles still.
I agree with you about pop going flat faster in plastic ... that's why I only buy cans of pop now. At least the cans are not porous like the plastic bottles.
I miss Frosty O's ... they were like Cheerios with a frosty white sugar coating. Another product I miss is Coke with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.
If you ever get the chance when you are traveling abroad, keep an eye out for pop made with sugar ... it tastes SO MUCH better!

Boy, isn't it the truuuth??! .. I remember the commercial when they came out with the first "NEW" Crest.. MINT flavour paste.. Two little twin boys crooning to the mommie, "I WANT MINT!".. in the late sixties there was a potato snack called chipsters... loved them! i can still taste them if i think about it... and at the same time there was an instant pudding called Shake A Puddin that came in a cup with a lid and a lil plastic spoon and you just added cold milk and shook it and let it sit in fridge for 5 mins and it was ready. I miss Coke in the 16 oz. GLASS bottles. Ooh, and don't get me started on AVON! They have discontinued my favorite fragrance, Perceive, and every favorite lipstick I had! They discontinue lipsticks and fragrances on a regular basis for some odd reason.

Jolene, I use to love the scent of a cleaning product called "Cinch". It was an all purpose cleaner that cleaned..well damn, near everything...my window, counter tops...I use to think of things to clean so that my whole trailer would not have that misty smell! So, what happened to it?

I needed at least 50 more new episodes to get me happily through puberty. I think that's when my angst in puberty started--when Magnum PI was canceled. *sigh* Maybe that's why I'm so grumpy as an adult. Hmmmm

I miss how the hair sprays used to work in the 80's and early 90's...they are not as good nowadays...as a hairstylist...I am not pleased by the supposed "environmentally safe" ones I am a bit sceptical that they just are not as good, cheaper quality, and HUGE prices! I sound a bit bitter, sorry about that!

Another pain is how they mess up good products by trying to make them "healthyer" I guess. They substitute sugar with chemicals altering the flavour. They pump more chemicals into food replacing natural ingridients claiming it is healthyer, I wonder why cancer is on the rise.

another thing about glass bottles, In Canada (Toronto mainly) you can sometimes come by Coca Cola in glass bottles, ofcourse a 6-pack costs 4 times more than tins but I will say this again the taste can not be compared

I have to agree with you about the shampoo...it was the BEST. When I was young there were two cereals that came out at the same time. Quisp and Quake. I find Quisp now and then but never Quake, and of course that was my favorite. YUM!

i just remember my mama spraying it on me after every bath...i thought i was a princess, although im so old now i cant remember the smell of it no more.

Soda in the 12 oz. bottles!
Mechanic shop I hung out at as a kid had a soda machine with the glass bottle sodas and it took a good hard yank to pull that soda bottle out!!

.33 Liter glass bottles in Germany (and overseas)are made...but they have the twist style cap like on the plastic bottles in the states. I'm saving the bottle I got and taking it as a souvenier.

hey im studying in Grenada and they do have soda in the half liter glass bottles. and I do agree its a pain to get them out of the machine. I dont know if its just me but it tastes soooooo much better out of glass compared to the tins or plastic bottles.

Check the ingredients to see if they are made with sugar or high fructose corn syrup. That may be part of the reason it tastes so much better.
I like the glass containers because the drink stays cold longer.

The glass bottles keep the fizz better then the cans or the plastic bottles. They perfected bottled soda (remember before people would go to a soda shop and the soda jerk would pour in carbinated water and pump shots of syrup into it) to last and taste it's best in a glass bottle. Jones cola makes pure cane cola but I can't tell the difference between, I am only 26 :) But I do remember in the 80's when they used to have glass bottles still.

I agree with you about pop going flat faster in plastic ... that's why I only buy cans of pop now. At least the cans are not porous like the plastic bottles.

I miss Frosty O's ... they were like Cheerios with a frosty white sugar coating. Another product I miss is Coke with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.
If you ever get the chance when you are traveling abroad, keep an eye out for pop made with sugar ... it tastes SO MUCH better!

2/fizzies...flavored little tablets about the size of alka seltzer that when you dropped them in cold water made a refreshing carbonated fruit drink..my fav was grape

Jolene...I used to have a butterfly hair pin like that when I was a little girl. It was something my Mom bought me. Can't think of anything at the moment. I just hate when they change things and say New and Improved. Nothing wrong with the product, just decreased the size and upped the price.

Revlon discontinued my eyeliner. I LOVED that stuff. I have about 3 more and don't know what I'll do after they are gone.
Rimmell discontinued my eyeshadow color. I want to physically hurt them. I may have one more and then they are gone.
These both happened within months of each other. My eyes are having a hard time dealing with it. :(

I miss plain ol' Crest toothpaste. I've used it since I was a kid, and you used to walk in, pick the size you wanted, and walk out. Now you walk up to a ten foot long display of 47 different "kinds" of Crest, gels, pastes, flavors, this control, that control... Yak!! Where did simplicity go?

in the late sixties there was a potato snack called chipsters... loved them! i can still taste them if i think about it... and at the same time there was an instant pudding called Shake A Puddin that came in a cup with a lid and a lil plastic spoon and you just added cold milk and shook it and let it sit in fridge for 5 mins and it was ready. Given my love for the 60s and 70s, i probably have a humongous list of things i miss.
