GTR dosn't have an engine...it has a bomb. I've owned both Vette and recent GTR. I'd take the GTR mostly but would be happy with a Z06. Both cars are really great. However the GTR has more technology than NASA and its as cheap as chips too

@macdaddy1600 Awd is only useful on traction limited surfaces, such as dirt and snow. On the track awd becomes a burden. Not only because of the extra weight and additional parasitic drivetrain power loss. But the extra strain on additional moving parts. That is why nissan would void your warranty on the gtr the FIRST time you put it in "launch mode". Nissan wouldnt even back their own drivetrain in a 100k car.
@macdaddy1600 Sorry but its not. The gtr is slower in every category of racing. The gtr lost to the zr1 and z06 vettes on the nurburgring, which is the standard by which every car is measured. The zr1(which is the same price) was 5 seconds faster, which is an ass kicking at that level of performance. Funny part is the zo6 (which is cheaper) also beat the gtr on the ring bu 2 seconds. The gtr is also the slowest of the three in the 1/4 mile.
Even though the Z06 guy had a horrible launch, with all things better he wouldn't have touched the GTR. He may have been able to squeeze out a 10.* time slip, but it wouldn't have bested the GTR. The track is pretty much the only place that a Z06 is going to match or beat the GTR.

Guess I should have read the description, before posting anyway. That Vette has very minor mods and stock tires, I've trapped @ 126 in mine and all I have are Corsa's.

@deadbeat86 Your an idiot, that 3.8 with twin turbos has an effective higher displacement then that n/a 7.0. For example if your turbo is producing 14.7 PSI of boost on a 2.0L engine, it is effectively increasing the engine to 4.0L of displacement.

O and its 15k more then the zo6 haha. Gtr = fail.

I just dont think the gtr performs up to the hype. Who the hell wants to dump 130k into a 100k car to make it run?

GTR, Porsche 911 Gallardo, Audi, EVO and Subaru.

Description says both cars were modded. GTR is easier to launch of the line with all the "driver assists" like launch control, etc. And its AWD gives it a better advantage to lesser drivers. Meaning anyone can find launching a GTR easier then launching a Corvette RWD.
Funny thing, they haven't been able to pull a 10.44 in a stock GT-R anywhere else in the world, but low and behold they manage it in a podunk little town. The 2012 GT-R is the fastest version of the car yet and it doesn't 11 flat. So what gives in this little video? A stock Z06 against a tuned GT-R with mods? What do you expect?
@doomvi I think it is pretty obvious the GTR is modded and tuned. did you see that trap speed. 135mph. Stock GTR's go 121. The 2012's run 125mph. This GTR is far from stock.

Step on the gas & set the launch control, then use the paddle shifters to change gears. The vette requires much more skill to drive being that it's a manual transmission. Get a grip people.

If you pay attention to the video the Z06 driver had a shitty 60' and missed shifts yet still trapped 128mph. Despite belief, trap speeds depends on traction just like the ET does. If a driver is missing shifts and has a shitty 8th mile he is not going to gain all of his trap speed on the back half.
@TorqueMachine 700hp GT-Rs are trapping in the 137range and doing 9's. Also if you get a shitty launch you can lose MPH. A Z06 doing a 12 due to a shitty launch isn't going to get his full 128mph trap speed. Perfect traction in a bone stock Z06 will net that. I would say the Z06 has bolt ons and had a 2.0+ 60' and the GT-R is full bolt ons making about 600whp.

With Shitty traction you are not getting enough power down to put down to get up to speed. Look up any video of a shitty run of a Z06 in the 12s or 13s and you'll see this.

The GTR is only faster from 0-60 mph because of the GTR's better traction. After 60 mph the ZO6 destroys the GTR. If you look at almost any comparison of the two cars, the GTR is always faster to 60 mph, but 60-120 mph the ZO6 is almost always faster. Also if you look at the trap speeds of both cars in the 1/4 mile, the ZO6 is almost always faster. And most PROFESSIONAL drag racers will tell you if you want to know how fast a car is look at the mph not the e.t.
@gurjotsehmbi32 The ZR1 has gone 10's at over 130mph bone stock on stock tires. I don't think the GTR has come anywhere close to that. And I have personally seen a bone stock ZO6 on stock tires run 11.5 at 125mph. I have seen bone stock GTR's on stock tires run 11.5, but I've never seen a GTR trap at 125mph.

The larger engine in the gtr doesnt help it beat the z06 or zr1 on the ring or in the 1/4 on similar tires with "good" drivers. Its 3 seconds slower on the ring and a full second slower in the 1/4. O and its 15k more then the zo6 haha. Gtr = fail.

Any muscle car or rwd car in general with own that with what 60-80k. My brothers duster runs about a second faster then that gtr and hes got like 80k into it. I just dont think the gtr performs up to the hype. Who the hell wants to dump 130k into a 100k car to make it run?

What is comes down to is how a car performs on the street and a race track. Drag proves 1/4 Mile speed and that's it, it doesn't even prove top end because the Z has 7 gears and only uses 3 in the 1/4 Mile. 0-20, 0-35, 0-45, 0-50, 0-55 0-60 or 0-70 & the race is over. GTR, Porsche 911 Gallardo, Audi, EVO and Subaru.

I love how these arm-chair racers say that the vette driver "can't drive" etc. When they themselves have most likely never made a pass down the 1/4 mile. Anyone who has wouldn't make such ignorant statements. Both cars are great. The GT-R is almost an error free drivers experience. Step on the gas & set the launch control, then use the paddle shifters to change gears. The vette requires much more skill to drive being that it's a manual transmission. Get a grip people.

Granted these guys are racing at Sea level I doubt the Z06 is stock because it took ranger a perfect launch and 60' to accomplish a 128mph trap speed. If you pay attention to the video the Z06 driver had a shitty 60' and missed shifts yet still trapped 128mph. Despite belief, trap speeds depends on traction just like the ET does. If a driver is missing shifts and has a shitty 8th mile he is not going to gain all of his trap speed on the back half.

@TorqueMachine 700hp GT-Rs are trapping in the 137range and doing 9's. Also if you get a shitty launch you can lose MPH. A Z06 doing a 12 due to a shitty launch isn't going to get his full 128mph trap speed. Perfect traction in a bone stock Z06 will net that. I would say the Z06 has bolt ons and had a 2.0+ 60' and the GT-R is full bolt ons making about 600whp.

If you look at the Z06 guy's run he had a shitty 60' and it looked as if he missed gears in there. Trap speed is and Horspower and traction. With Shitty traction you are not getting enough power down to put down to get up to speed. Look up any video of a shitty run of a Z06 in the 12s or 13s and you'll see this.

The GTR is only faster from 0-60 mph because of the GTR's better traction. After 60 mph the ZO6 destroys the GTR. If you look at almost any comparison of the two cars, the GTR is always faster to 60 mph, but 60-120 mph the ZO6 is almost always faster. Also if you look at the trap speeds of both cars in the 1/4 mile, the ZO6 is almost always faster. And most PROFESSIONAL drag racers will tell you if you want to know how fast a car is look at the mph not the e.t.

@galacticcentralpoint the gtr was only 0.1 seconds behind the zr1 on the 1/4. im sure the gtr would beat the z06

@gurjotsehmbi32 The ZR1 has gone 10's at over 130mph bone stock on stock tires. I don't think the GTR has come anywhere close to that. And I have personally seen a bone stock ZO6 on stock tires run 11.5 at 125mph. I have seen bone stock GTR's on stock tires run 11.5, but I've never seen a GTR trap at 125mph.

I could hear the GTR´s transmission cracking at launch. It´s got one more launch to go before it needs a repair. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
