No the CIA trained the Mujaheddin to fight the Soviets, after the war ended the Mujaheddin broke up into many different sects. The Taliban and Al-Qaeda were formed after the break up. The other Mujaheddin founded the Northern Alliance to fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and the Northern Alliance still fights against the Taliban on the U.S. side today. By the Way, Afghanistan is not in the Middle East, you might need to break out that history and geography book.
