  • When Shakespeare meets Zeffirelli and Rota! Thanks to mgpoliveira for downloading:)

  • I have only one thing to say: She SMOKES cigarettes! Juliet...you're OUTTA HERE!

  • Thank you You tube for enabling me to relive my past with movie and music clips from the 60s, when I was 15, i took my first date, Randi Misoznick, to see this film version of Romeo and Juliet, in the Bronx, alas, Randi has pass on, but the thoughts I have of her, of the innocense of being on a date, will always remind me and cherished in this movie version of Romeo and Juliet

  • my teacher had us read this and watch this version of the movie. he retired last year, miss u mr. lynch!

  • She doth teach the stars to shine bright.

I never saw true beauty 'til this night.

  • Érettségi idején a legszebb filmem volt,de az is maradt sohasem felejtem.

  • where is the rest???? only 3 parts?/ solo 3 partes?

  • he is really HOT and she´s truly beautiful!

  • Rainbowcful

    Of course I accept it.

It is always great to have an original and creative touch from someone to such a great masterpiece.

    Greetings from Brazil.

  • @jfbecks17 Grazie capitan ovvio! Infatti ho detto medievalistica, non medievale.

  • I watched this in English but I missed out on the bit after the wedding

  • ih dang i'm watching a movie from 1968 in english class wow

  • @krxterm1 lol me 2

  • I watched in English as well..this one kills the modern one with Leo

  • Ayyyy

  • She is the Most beautiful people in the world!

  • We watched this in English too

  • zac effron!!!

  • A beautiful couple then. Whiting is kind of bald now. Aging is an irresistible process.

  • wow, this new soundtrack somehow really adds to the scene

  • i like more gnomeo and juliet

  • @megapatricklover You are epic! xD

  • Juliet has the most natural beauty I have seen! :)

  • oooooooh romeos hot.

  • a truly beautiful film

  • boooooooooooooooooooooring

  • everyones commenting on the guy - but the girl in this movie is absolutely beautiful! not in today's 'have sex with ME' kind of way, but its so natural and graceful, shes gorgeous! and zack efron looks like HIM, not the other way around! just had to stand up for the awesomeness of this movie

  • Beautiful music. I love their outfits. Too bad people don't still wear these style of clothes anymore as a normal thing.

  • I love the movie~ And the music is great. And People say he looks like Zac Efron, Maybe but it should be said like Zac Efron looks like Him isn't he older than Zac Efron anyway?

  • Romeo is fucking hot! we're reading this in English and I melted when i say his picture!!

  • @bunzieee123 Ah . . . you must be the little popsy I threw out of my class. Whiting does not look like Efron -- Efron's mother wasn't even born yet when this film was made.

  • gosh where can I watch this version ?

youtube took it down i think .

  • its really nice one !!....

  • i was watching this in english and you see this girls tits lol

  • @Cramp213 all the boys in my class freaked out, and the girls were disgusted. my english teacher told the boys to stop being such horndogs. lol.

  • I am watching this version in class

  • no offence i like the 1996 version much better.....its soo sad though at the end ..'='(

  • Comment removed

  • @VALMARIESASK

At least you did not comment that Leonard Whiting looks like a Zac Efron.

  • @mgpoliveira oh my gosh i know! I f i see another comment saying he looks like Zac Efron I am going to go banana sandwhich on someone....

  • @mgpoliveira DIDN'T NOTICE THAT, HE LOOKS LIKE ZAC EFRON

  • @Scantraxia Or Zac Elfron looks like him. haha..

  • @mgpoliveira or maybe Zac Efron looks like Leonard Whiting

  • @ramalamabangbang09

I will not say that this Efron is a reincarnation of Whiting because they are both still alive.

Perhaps two identical emanations of a same being.

    Who knows?

  • @mgpoliveira i did he does realy

  • Perfection!

  • I was using 'orthodox' in its secular sense to describe the music as following strict compositional rules/tropes characteristic of the Renaissance period; I was in no way making reference to the art, music, liturgy, ritual etc. of the Eastern Church.

  • IT WOULD BE A DREAM TO LIVE IN THAT PERIOD,NOT GOING INTO YOUR HOUSE AND GETTING CLIPPED BY A DRIVE-BY...OR NO BURNED DOWN HOUSES THAT ARE UNSAFE FOR KIDS THAT WALK BY GOING TO SCHOOL AND NO OIL SPILLS AND WAR ETC.ETC.ETC

  • he looks like zac efron

  • This Juliet chick is just way too fucking hot, I cant stand it...

  • Although I prefer the Original Score for this scene, I cannot deny that what you have put together with your music preference is actually quite good! Very nice, indeed!

  • HE LOOKS LIKE ZAC EFRON' GRAND DADDY >:o

  • we just had our filmviewing of this movie

    this morning in our school.

and romeo really look like zac efron.

  • OMG Zack Efron!!!!!!!!!??????????

  • Oh, I'm so jealous of how beautiful Olivia Hussey was in this movie. She is the epitome of classic beauty. If I could look anyone, I wish I could look like Olivia did as Juliet.

  • this is the best love story........

  • @BballNintendo I was gonna post the same thing!

  • 0:25 he looks like zac efron maybe it's zac's ancestor!!! =O

  • doez some1 kw where i can actually c da movie? or the title to c it n youtube?....PLEASE awnser this!

  • @90julissa You can get the DVD off e bay pretty inexpensively, sometimes find it in stores. The whole movie was here on You Tube-done in pieces. Don't know if it is still on or not. Try putting in Franco Zefferelli's "Romeo and Juliet" (1968). It is very good!

  • Romeo looks like zac efron!!!=)

  • this is real italy

  • @Kempesis

Your short comment is the best of all.

    .

This is it, this is real Italy, not as it is in its present appearence, but in its spiritual essence.

    .

    Thank you and best wishes

  • @mgpoliveira The film was made on location in Italy. The site of the balcony scene is the rather old Villa Borghese, in or near actual Verona.

  • Im watching this in my english class and the guy looks alot like zac efron

  • I swear Romeo looks exactly like Zack Effron. lol

  • Whats the name of the song that guy sings when romeo grabs her hand and kisses her?

  • he is so hot

  • im watching this in my english class and we all agree that romeo looks like zac efron

  • @ladybuggs12 wow everyone seems 2 b watching this novel... so am i dud!! haha lolz itz pretty kool nd D guy iz zo hott

  • @ladybuggs12 Hahaha, that's what my English teacher said! She's like, "And there's lover boy, who looks just like Zac Efron."

  • what type of dance was this called?

  • @JonasBrothers813

The dance you see in the video is a Basse danse or Bassa Danza, a court dance, popular in the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries.

However, the music I used is as Pavane, also popular in those times. Well, nobody is perfect.

For more information, search on Google:

    Basse Dance and Pavane

  • @mgpoliveira thank you so much! i really appreciate it.

  • wheres the one from moonraker (james bond)?

  • lol romeo look just lik zac efron no joke

  • I'm not sure why this is labelled "a more appropriate" soundtrack...musicologically, historically, perhaps, but part of the charming genius of Rota's original score was his uncanny (and oh, so Italian) ability to blend Renaissance tropes with "Romantic" cinematic gestures. To the non-academic ear, his work seems so perfectly "Renaissance" precisely because it is suggestive rather than orthodox.

  • @Autostade67

I agree with you in some respects my friend and I like Nino Rota´s original soundtrack.

Enjoy both the original and the one I made. In other words, just use your imagination.

    Best wishes

  • @Autostade67 IS THERE A DIFFERNCE IF IT WAS ORTHODOX??I THINK OF ORTODOX AS THE ENDING OF BRAM STOKERS (DRACULA) IT IS VERY RICH IN THE TONES AND BEAUTIFUL TO HEAR!!! MY FATHERS FROM RUSSIA AND HIS OLD ORTHODOX MUSIC IS CALMING AND VERY NICE TO THE EAR!!!THANK YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN IF YOU EVER GET THIS!!!CYNTHIA.

  • As a fellow Renaissance music fan, I love this idea-just for the feast and dancing scenes anyway. The BBC version has an actual Renaissance ensemble in the gallery playing during one of the scenes. Perfect selection BTW for this clip. Thank you for putting it together.!

  • Romeo is so hot;D! Or was

  • hey this romeo is hot too

  • in this scene. Romeo=Pedobear

  • i kno he look really simialar to Zac

  • ~U guyz r wrong were stufin shakespheres play romeo and juliet now and shakesphere never cast anyone young for young roles they were adults that looked young theyre actually in there 20's or at least 19, he didnt really cast youth unfortunately sorri 2 burst ya bubble~

  • @DIZgUrLiZdABoMb Sorry to burst your bubble, but Olivia Hussey was 15 years old when she was cast as Juliet; Leonard Whiting was 17 years old when cast as Romeo. The Truth be told!

  • ROMEO LOOKS LIKE ZAC EFRON!!!!!!

  • Romeo looks like Frodo

  • zac efron

  • hahhahahaaaa

    ur right

  • Comment removed

  • how is this more appropriate? lute music was not often for dancing it was played for nobles as entertainment. the music in the movie is fine

  • she was 15 and he was 17 when they were cast...she wasn't allowed to attend her own premiere because she was nude in the film! :)

  • @WICKEDrocksHL26 That was one of the funniest film anecdotes I ever heard. She wasn't allowed to see herself nude!

  • you know she is only 16

  • she is so beautiful and he is so cute

  • this is as close to the original theme song as possible. the original score has never been found

  • @GlassOfMilk45 what no the original theme song is on itunes the city of prague philharmonic

  • Leonard Whiting is the greatest Romeo of all time. This is too beautiful for words. Thank you.~

  • even though Leonardo looks like Zac Efron, Leonardo is a much better actor than Zac.

  • Believe it or not, Beatle Paul McCartney was offered the lead role as Romeo for this movie when it was made.

  • it's most beautiful movie i ever watched!!!! music, actors are beautiful!!!!!!

  • iis it posible to find this on itunes>?

  • Ugh, Romeo's so cute!! He looks like Zac Efron :)

  • Wow , Zac Efron is some messed up demon who can remain youthful...

    Evidence?

He looked young in this film ;)

    Hahahhahaha.

  • I KNOW!!! when we watched this in english all the kids were screaming at the screen "OMG it's Zac Efron??!!!"

  • lol!! that happened to my class too!

  • This scene is like watching the genesis of the White mans' suckage at dancing...

  • ROFL

  • lolol

  • lol

  • Very nice work. I like it.

  • I watched this last year in english, I prefer the 1996 version, but this one was also very good!

  • I prefer the 1968 one. Leonard Whiting was so cute in that movie. It is classic.

  • The 1968 version cannot be outdone! And I think Whiting and Zac Efron share a striking resemblance!!

  • thats what i was thinking

  • @biowa22 Except that Whiting is a 10x better actor

  • im watching this movie in grade 9 english class! we arn't done yet(:

  • I saw this movie in 9th grade english class!

  • the real beauty which comes from the soul... in which kind of world we live today, o my god??????

  • who is zac efron?

  • Barb-- he's the main character on High School Musical

  • oh! whos a hotter Romeo....him or Leo?

  • @barb7124 Incidentally, they're both called Leo...

  • HE does look LIKE ZAC EFFRON OMG LOLL

  • omg romeo looks like zac efron and i love this one juliet is pretty and romeo is hot

  • thank you so much for the music...one more question...do you know what dance this is and where I could find the step patterns?

  • Could you tell me where to find this song? i'm choreographing the ballroom scene for this play at school, and this is a pretty piece of music. Thank you so much

  • The music I used in the video is neither original from the movie nor original Shakespaere used in the play...

barb7124 I sent an answer to you in your mailbox.

  • I love this movie! No re-make could ever top the original;)

  • That's what I think ,too. The movie is great xD

  • i hate to sayit, but doesnt the romeo i this movie resemblr zac efron?

  • I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • its insane! I watched it in school and I was like "WHAAAAAAAAT?!"

  • Doesn't Juliet resemble Mona Lisa, although a much prettier Mona Lisa.

  • Yes both Romeo and Juliet are beautiful.

  • O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!/ It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night /Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear/ Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear!

  • I like how their love seems to break the rituals and transcend them. It is very beautiful.

  • thanks

  • please tell me what's the song name and who sing.

    it's very important.

    thanks

  • The music you hear on the video is not from the original soundtrack by Nino Rota. I replaced it with the following.

    Pietro Paolo Borrono (fl. 1530-40)

    Pavana la Gombertina

From the CD Early Italian Renaissance Music - Harmonia Mundi

    Paul O´Dette - Lute

Read the introduction text for more information.

  • I am so surprised that no other but Romeo recognized her beauty--or maybe they were just reserved for each other.

  • She was just barely presented in society that night or allowed to stay late.before she was considered a child, and so the nanny/ama and mother were considering her marriage age upgrading, quite early on those days (and until World War I)

  • HAHAHAHA pushing an invisible car at 1:26

  • I liked your comment.

You are a very imaginative person.

  • i remember watching this movie in school. :)

  • We watched it in school, too. All my friends and I wanted to look like Olivia Hussey SO BADLY!

  • Actually, he wrote a thesis in the '30s on Renaissance composer Gioseffo Zarlino. He was a big devotee of historical musical culture.

There is a documentary by the great Italian director Mario Monicelli titled "Un Amico magico: il maestro Nino Rota". There is a bit of footage where Franco Zeffirelli says that they intended to create a fictional renaissance soundtrack, rather than one based on fact.

I am no expert on Renaissance music, though. [cross eyes] I enjoyed the video.

  • Thank you for your comment.

I changed my presentation text because after reading it better I realized it was too pretensious of me to correct a Nino Rota´s "Mistake".
