  • Very interested to see some more updates of your layout as you go. Doing a very nice job..

  • Cheerrs, you got me a good idea on my next track cheeeeeeers and yes im young thankx and i wouldn't take that mine down it looks good as it is.... you are a LEGEND!!

  • I see you have alot of tyco and athearn products. Im 13 and im just starting a layout and it amazes me how much tyco products are around. Have good luck with the layout!

  • What method did you use to fasten the track through the foam to the wood underneath?

  • @MayhemN2012

Thanks for the response, I didnt fasten the track to the plywood, the foam is glued and then i lay the track, outline the track and then lay the roadbed with glue and set for 12 hours, then just tack the track to the road bed. When I'm sure that its the way I want the layout I will glue the track to the roadbed so it doesnt move. Right now I can run trains and there is no problem of track coming loose.

  • You should add a few more sidings in the yard area

  • @casshey

Thanks, once I'm done with the way things are set-up in the yard I'm looking at adding 2 more. Right now I have taken out the Mining area and adding the yard there and going to connect the container yard to it.

  • Great video, keep them coming!

  • Train backing up somewhere nearby @ 3:24 Nice layout!

  • @GP9railfan

I live close to the north and south bound trains coming and going with containers out of commerce,ca.

  • @rjiii88 OK That explains it then. Thanks. I wish my layout was as big as yours is. Any new videos of your layout?

  • Just to double check... I would run a Double Stack and an Auto Rack through your "hidden trackage... just to be sure they fit.

    Jon

  • Do you know the angle of the slope? I must build in the spare bedroom which mean a 4x8 sheet. And I want to add a 2nd level! I've been told by one person don't go beyond 3 degrees! FYI, I'm new to MRR'ing! Thanks Roger Oesch

  • @rojoeable

Thanks for the ?. I have takin the slope out and now working on a different set-up. I will post a video asap and would like to see yours. good luck and have fun.

  • Lookin great, man! I've built several layouts over the years, and since you asked for suggestions, I went through and read what others have already said, and heres what I would say: First, add roads/streets. There are several products available, and I think you would do well with the "Roll-On" streets, which come in a roll, and you simply peel the back off and stick the road to your layout like duct tape! Then definetely add grass and trees..Trust me, that REALLY brings a layout to life!

  • You have the same Pennsylvania maintenance caboose with the searchlight on it. You also have the same Santa Fe crane. Awesome :)

  • looks good but no room trees and shrubs. I like your container yard.

  • im a beginner at model railroading . do u have any tips for a layout that is small

  • i cant wait to see more

  • what you could do with the top section...is make it into a coaling area...trucks on top..dumping into the hopper on the top to trains loading out bound on bottom.????

  • you should get some trees

  • I can only dream of having a model railroad like that

  • If you got that much stuff, I wouldn't be taking down that mining area. You're going to need all of the storage space you can get.

  • ok i know your not done yet but you should add grass to the white parts. Maybe take some of the trains out so that it isnt so messy. But your doing good and i like it

  • you should try and get grass and plants and more colour and get

    different levels

  • Ron, the layout is looking pretty good. I watched all 3 videos before commenting to save on any repeat comments or questions. I can't help but wonder why so many in this hobby feel the need to have every industry in one layout, especially when the layout can be viewed all in one glance? Meaning, if you had dividers or other rooms that the layout would extend into, you could then have these different industries without the layout looking like everything was jammed in one area. Just saying?

  • Ron, looking good man, just have one suggestion, you may want to change them risers out for woodland scenics foam risers, they will give you somewhere to put your ballast when you go to ballast your tracks. Just a suggestion man, the layout is really coming along and looking good!!

  • Looks good Ron, making some nice progress. May want to think about a Y coming out of the lumber mill area to give more options for operations ;)

  • looking good

  • thanks all n have fun im doing some changes now and when i have a chance i will post asap.
