I live in Seattle, USA and visited Manila and Cebu in August 2009. When I was in Manila, I had friends in Sampaloc and spent alot of time there. I enjoyed my visit and met many friendly Filipino people. I didn't want to leave.

While I was there, if there was a heavy rain, even if it didn't last long, Sampaloc was flooded. Better street drainage is needed! When I heard about Ondoy, I thought alot about the many friendly people I met. I hope they are ok. Godspeed to all FIlipinos!

my wife is in Cebu, and I need to fly through Manilla stop over to get there, good thing I did not plan for this weekend to go, I have October 10th ticket, I hope this is not a high death toll there from this, they already have enough problems as it is. Sadly, I'm in the U.S. and I'm unable to get there. I just wish that I was beside her though. I tried calling her through my cellphone, but it didn't go through because the evacuation center she and her family are staying at has no reception. So, I'm praying that she's not one of those 46 people who have perished.
